This study explores fire prevention measures for single-person households on the phenomenon of an increase in single-person households due to changes in the family structure due to low birthrate and aging population, full marriage, non-marriage, separation, bereavement, and returning to farming villages, and increased flexibility in the labor market. The factor that affects the fire of single-person households is the residential environment problem at the structural level. In terms of behavior, there is an increase in fire occurrence due to the rearing of companion animals. In order to prevent fires in single-person households, safety regulations without exceptions are needed to improve the residential environment at the structural level. At the behavioral level, it is necessary to expand the prevention and safety guidance of related organizations. In addition, as a measure to prevent fire caused by companion animals, manufacturers of electric ranges should develop safety devices to prevent fires caused by companion animals, such as an automatic power-off device or power supply using a timer. It can also be an important means to create and distribute promotional videos of measures necessary to safely raise companion animals, or to develop and distribute disaster preparedness programs implemented in virtual reality.
The purpose of this study is, for the first time in Korea, to examine the effects of companion animal online shopping motivation factors on customer satisfaction. In addition, we analyzed the moderating effect of the number of companion animals raised. The factor analysis of survey data yields the following five dimensions: convenience, economic, hedonistic, product characteristics, and information-knowledge shopping motivation. Multiple regression analysis shows that both convenience shopping motivation and information-knowledge shopping motivation have significant positive (+) effects on customer satisfaction. As a result of hierarchical regression analysis, it was found that there is a moderating effect of the number of companion animals raised on the relationship between information-knowledge and customer satisfaction.

Currently, as the number of families living with companion animals increases, the demand for information about the health status of companion animals has increased. As the demand for this increases, there is a need for a method to measure respiration and pulse in companion animals. Considering the characteristics of hairy companion animals, we want to measure respiration and pulse signals using BCG, which is different from adsorption ECG. Since this BCG method is made by mixing respiration and pulse signals into one signal, it is necessary to separate the respiration signal waveform and the pulse signal waveform from one signal waveform. In this paper, a wearable device for BCG measurement was implemented to measure the signal, and a method of separating the signal input from the BCG wearable device into a respiration signal and a pulse signal was proposed.

This study sought to develop clothing for a companion animal that can provide stable ECG measurements. A pattern for the smart clothing of a companion dog was manufactured using the replica method to select a location and method that best suited the stable measurement of ECG and improved the clothing's fitness. The smart clothing was developed as the following three types: strap type, top type, and combined top and vest type with a detachable wireless ECG monitor. The detection abilities of these were observed using the PQRST rate taken after ECG measurements while the three companion dogs were tested while resting and moving. The results revealed that apart from using an electrode, applying a gel pad is the most effective way to achieve stable ECG measurements, and the central chest region is more reliable than the left armpit for providing steady readings. The combined top and vest type showed the highest average ECG PQRST detection number, meaning that the ECG signal measurement was steady. These results may contribute to the measurement of ECG in smartwear for U-Healthcare to measure other biometric data of a companion dog.
Majority of the respiratory infectious diseases that are generally prevalent in Korea from autumn to winter are caused by viruses such as respiratory syncytial virus and influenza A virus. Therefore, there is rapidly rising interest in determining the antiviral effects of probiotics against respiratory viruses and elucidating the probable mechanism behind it. Various human clinical trials as well as animal experiments have shown that some probiotics potentially have antiviral activity based on their immunomodulatory effect. Hence, this review describes in detail the various possibilities of using probiotics as antiviral agents against respiratory viruses and their potential effects. Also, it provides basic data regarding the availability of different probiotics relevant for their production by dairy and food industries.

Background: In modern society, the number of households raising companion animals increases, and the market for veterinary medicines is expanding even more. This study aims to investigate the perception of companion animal lovers' veterinary medicines, the necessity of specific guidance by pharmacists for veterinary medicines, the role of pharmacists at veterinary pharmacies, and ways to fulfill that role. Methods: This study evaluated veterinary medicines and medication guidance through Google online questionnaire targeting pet-lovers from December 20, 2021, until January 19, 2022. The questions consist of 1) characteristics of petlovers, 2) purchase history and drug recognition of veterinary drugs, 3) use of veterinary vaccines, 4) use of diagnostic kits, and 5) guidance of veterinary medicines by local pharmacists. Results: The respondents' experience purchasing veterinary drugs was as high as 94.4%. The most purchased drug was heartworm-preventing products, and vaccination was performed mainly at veterinary clinics (veterinarians). The respondents primarily purchased veterinary medicines for companion animals at veterinary hospitals and did not know the name of the drugs which they bought. In addition, respondents expected to receive specific information on veterinary medicines from pharmacists. Conclusion: As the number of veterinary pharmacies in the community will increase with the expansion of the companion animal market, pharmacists should play their role as experts in veterinary medicines through systematic and continuous professional education.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae is largely expected as a close binary system of a carbon/oxygen white dwarf (WD) primary and its secondary non-degenerate (single degenerate; SD) or degenerate companion (double degenerate; DD). Here we present a high-cadence monitoring observation of SN 2021hpr in a spiral galaxy, NGC 3147. SN 2021hpr shows typical characteristics as a normal type Ia supernova from its photometric (Δm15(B)=1.01±0.03, dust free MB,max=-19.45±0.02) and spectroscopic data. To investigate its progenitor system, we fit the early part of BVRI-band light curve simultaneously with a combined version of ejecta-companion and simple power-law model. As a result, we found a significant feature of an early excess possibly from a 7.63±0.52R⊙-sized companion at the optimal viewing angle while the fit is not successful at the common viewing angle. No possible red sources brighter than F555W=-7.01 AB mag is detected at the SN location in Hubble Space Telescope (HST) pre-explosion images, excluding massive stars with initial mass of >16M⊙ as companions. We suggest the progenitor system of SN 2021hpr can be a fairly large companion such as a main sequence, a low mass subgiant, and a helium giant star. In addition, a possibility of the ejecta-Disk Originated Matter (DOM) interaction for the DD scenario considering linearly-rising early flux still remains.
The progenitor of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) is mainly believed to be a close binary system of acarbon-oxygen white dwarf (CO WD) and non-degenerate companion (single degenerate) or another WD (double degenerate). However, it is unclear which system is more prevalent. Here, we present a high cadence optical/Near-IR light curve of normal but slightly faint type Ia SN 2019ein from IMSNG project. We fit the early light curve (t <+8.3 days from the first detection) with various models to find the shock-heated cooling emission from SN ejecta-companion interaction. No significant shock-heated cooling emission is found, from which we constrain the progenitor star size as the following. The upper limit (Rupper,*) of the companion size in R-band is ~0.2R⊙ when forcing the first light time (tfl) to have one value and ~0.9R⊙ when using the mean value of tfl from the fitting in each band. Assuming the source of the I-band curve is almost powered from the radioactive decay, we obtained Rupper,*~1.2R⊙. The early B-V color curve is in agreement with the model color curve of the 2M⊙ main sequence companion. These results allow us to at least rule out large stars like red giants as a companion star of the binary progenitor system of this supernova. B-R and V-R color do not show any significant signs of a red bump, which shows a thin helium shell (MHe<0.1M⊙) for the sub-Mch WD (double detonation model). In addition, we estimated the distance to NGC 5353 as 37.098±0.028Mpc.
This study assesses the palatability of regular canine diets and seven types of black soldier fly-based canine diets when fed to dogs. Sixteen dogs of two types were included in this study: 8 poodles (average weight 2.7 kg ± 0.5) and 8 bichons frises(average weight 2.0 kg ± 0.5). For intake and first choice, two-bowl tests, adhering to standards of canine palatability, were conducted every two days for a total of 14 days by comparing between the control and each treatment. Data, including total intake and total first choice were collected and accumulated for a total of 58 days. This encompassed 14 days of data on comparison between control and treatments, and 44 days of data on comparison among treatment groups (e.g., T1 vs T2) of black soldier fly-based canine diets. Significance differences in canine palatability was observed in treatments (p<0.05), except for the control and T2 results. Among the two-bowl tests, T1 and T2 exhibited the lowest intake and first choices. In particular, the palatability of canine diets ranked in the order T6 > T3 > T7 > T4 > T5 compared to each control. The total intake demonstrated in the following ranking: T6 > T3 > T7 > T5 > Control > T4 > T2 > T1. The total first choice was highest for T6, followed by T3, T7, T5, T4, Control, T2, and T1. In conclusion, insect diets with higher protein content such as T6, T3, and T7 representing as black soldier fly-based canine diets exhibit higher intake and first choice preferences in canines.
Globally, acute gastroenteritis is responsible for two million pediatric deaths. In particular, viral gastroenteritis is the most common cause of acute diarrhea, and most children aged <5 years are infected at least once. The common symptoms include profuse watery diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and fever. Viral gastroenteritis is generally caused by rotavirus, norovirus, astrovirus, and adenovirus. Recently, probiotics use has increased rapidly worldwide due to its inhibitory effect against viral gastroenteritis. In addition, probiotics are known to have anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects and enhance immunity without any side effects. Therefore, this review focuses on the anti-viral effects of probiotics on viral gastroenteritis. Furthermore, this review would provide basic data that could be used for developing new products that have improved functionality by addition of probiotics to milk and dairy food.
