The possibility of Cu-Al-Ni intermetallic coating on the mild steel through the combustion synthesis has been investigated. In particular, the effect of the ball milling energy on the microstructure of the coating layer was examined to obtain the best coating condition. Experimental results show that Cu-Al-Ni powder compact was explosively synthesized and successfully coated with the steel matrix. It was revealed that the formation of $Cu_9Al_4$ intermetallic decreased with increase in the ball milling energy. This result supports that the high energy ball milling would be effective for obtaining the most suitable microstructure for Cu-Al-Ni coating layer. However, the excessive ball milling energy seems to decrease the bonding strength between the coating layer and the matrix.
The effect of Mn on the densification and the microstructural change in W heavy alley was investigated with adopting the improved Mn-adding method. In order to avoid the pore formation problems associated with Mn powder mixing to the other constituent powders, Mn was added afterwards to the sintered heavy alloy; Mn powder was spread homogeneously on the surface of the sintered heavy alloy compact, and this Mn powder contained specimen was resintered at the same sintering temperature. As expected, the resintered specimen showed the pore free microstructure because Mn was reduced separately from the other constituent elements. It was also founded that W grains grew rapidly at the initial stage of resintering treatment due to the activated reprecipitation of the excess W atoms substituted by Mn atoms, but the growth rate of W grains was slowly lowered with the prolonged sintering time, especially, compared to the Mn free heavy alloy. Such a retardation of grain growth should be attributed to the decreased W solubility in the Mn contented matrix phase. Furthermore, Mn addition resulted in the decrease of contiguity by improving the wetting between matrix phase and W grain.

This paper presents a high-speed QR decomposition architecture for the multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) receiver based on Givens rotation. Under fast-varying channel, since the inverse matrix calculation has to be performed frequently in MIMO receiver, a high performance and low latency QR decomposition module is highly required. The proposed QR decomposition architecture is composed of Sign-Select Lookahead (SSL) coordinate rotation digital computer (CORDIC). In the SSL-CORDIC, the sign bits, which are computed ahead to select which direction to rotate, are used to select one of the last iteration results, therefore, the data dependencies on the previous iterations are efficiently removed. Our proposed QR decomposition module is implemented using TSMC 0.25 ${\mu}M$ CMOS process. Experimental results show that the proposed QR architecture achieves 34.83% speed-up over the Compact CORDIC based architecture for the 4 ${\times}$ 4 matrix decomposition.
For decades, the pursuit of volume commercialization of low-power reflective displays with a paper-like look has been an unfulfilled dream. While steady technical progress was made throughout the late 1990s, there were still no volume products incorporating electronic paper displays (EPD) on the market. Now, microencapsulated electrophoretic display technology, also called electronic ink, has moved into volume production with a frontplane laminate (FPL) display component called E Ink Imaging Film™. This film is coated roll to roll on a flexible plastic substrate and integrated into a display module. Today, all-plastic segmented displays are being shipped as well as displays with electronic ink FPL being driven by glass TFT backplanes. A roadmap to active matrix flexible electrophoretic displays is being enabled by rapid technical progress on flexible TFT backplanes by a variety companies. Each of the approaches to these backplanes and flexible active matrix displays has different advantages for the various market segments being pursued including large format flexible displays for e-news and other reader applications, rollable displays for compact readers, and high resolution small format displays up to 400 ppi that can have fully integrated drive electronics to reduce size and drive down costs. Backplane approaches include Si on plastic, organic transistors on plastic, and Si transistors on flexible stainless steel substrate. Progress is also being made on next generation inks, including more reflective inks with higher contrast ratios. A full color 6 inch, 170 pixel per inch (PPI) active matrix display using a newer generation ink has been developed and this will be described and demonstrated. Large format segmented flexible displays will also be described.

In attempt to develop a drug delivery system using serum albumin microspheres, bovine serum albumin microspheres containing antitumar agent. Cytarabine, were prepared. The shape, surface characteristics, size distribution, behavior of in vivo distribution, drug release behavior, and degradation of albumin microsphers in animal liver issue homogenate and proteolytic enzyme were investigated. The shape of albumin microspheres was spherical and the surface was smooth and compact. The size distribution of the albumin microspheres was effected by dispertion forces during emulsification and albumin concentration. Distribution of albumin microspheres after imtravenous administration in rabbit was achieved immediately. In vitro, albumin microsphere matrix was so hard that it retained most of cytarabine except initial burst during the first 10 minutes, and the level of drug release during the initial burst was affected by heating temperature, drug/albumin microsphere matrix was so hard that it retained most of cytarabine except initial burst during the first 10 minutes, and the level of drug release during the initial burst was affected by heating temperature, drug/albumin concentration ratio and size distribution. After drug release test, the morphology of albumin microspheres was not changed. Albumin microsphere matrix was degraded by the animal liver issue homogenate and proteolytic enzyme. The degree of degradation was affected by heating temperature.

Matrix converters have been studied for eliminating dc link of conventional converter-inverter system, and various undulation strategy have been proposed. Therefore, matrix converter have no energy storage component except for small ac later for the elimination of switching ripple, and can be made compact and highly reliable compare with the do link inverter system. Matrix converter, however, directly connected the input and the output terminals by bidirectional static switch. As a result if the input voltage are asymmetrical, and contain harmonics, the influence of the distortions directly appear on the output terminal. This problem is a major obstacle to the matrix converter. A new control method using average comparison strategy have been proposed in this paper. This control method realizes sinusoidal input and output current unity input displacement factor regardless of load power factor. Moreover, compensation of the asymmetrical and/or harmonic containing input voltage is automatically realized, and calculation time of control function is reduced.
In order to see the possible effect of the functional load-bearing after osseointegration of the titanium root form implant in dog a histologic study was conducted. One side of lower jaw was surgically prepared edentulousness and titanium implants were inserted. Some implants were functionally loaded through fixed detachable prosthesis and some are isolated and unloaded. The dog was sacrificed four months later and bone sections with implants were processed for histologic evaluation and the results were as follows ; (1) The bone to implant interface after four months of load bearing presented no mobility and no marginal bone loss radiographically and histologically. (2) The interface zone between compact bone and implant revealed a direct bone to implant contact and in some areas marrow tissue contacts were examined at the light microscopic level. (3) At the ultrastructural level the interface of surrounding compact bone matrix and implant, three types of superficial layers were found ; one with moderate electron dense amorphous granular substance layer, other with high electron dense fine granular substance layer, and another type of amorphous granular substance covered with high electron dense line of minute granules. (4) The osteoblasts in the marrow tissue neighboring implants and osteocytes in compact bone showed typical normal characteristics and in the marrow tissues some of lymphocytes and mast cells were observed. (5) The abscence of abnormal tissue reactions at a cellular level indicates a high degree of biocompatibility for the experimental titanium implant and basically no difference was found between functionally loaded and unloaded implants.
In attempt to improve the chemotherapeutic activity of adriamycin, adriamycin-entrapped HSA microspheres were prepared and investigated by the various in vitro experiments. The shape, surface characteristics and size distribution of HSA microspheres are observed by scanning electron microscopy. The in vitro drug release, albumin matrix degradation by protease of HSA microspheres were studied. The shape of HSA microspheres were spherical and the surface was smooth and compact. The size of HSA microspheres ranged from 0.4 to $2.5\;{\mu}m$ and have average diameters of 0.5 to $0.7\;{\mu}m$. The size distribution of HSA microspheres prepared by ultrasonication was mainly affected by albumin concentration and heating time in the process of hardening. In in vitro, almost all adriamycin was released from HSA microspheres for 8 hr. Analysis of the resulting adriamycin release profiles demonstrated that adriamycin is released from the microspheres in two distinct steps, a fast phase (until 30 min) followed by a much slower sustained release phase. Drug release, which is due to diffusion, was depended on the rate of matrix hydration. Drug release was largely affected by albumin concentration and heating temperature during the process of hardening. Albumin matrix degradation of HSA microspheres was affected by heating temperature and albumin concentration. Higher temperature and longer times generally produce harder, less porous, and slowly degradable microspheres.

In this paper, we describe the synthesis of robust and non-fragile Kalman filter design for a class of uncertain linear system with polytopic uncertainties and filter gain variations. The sufficient condition of filter existence, the design method of robust non-fragile filter, and the measure of non-fragility in filter are presented via LMIs(Linear Matrix Inequality) technique. And the obtained sufficient condition can be represented as PLMIs(parameterized linear matrix inequalities) that is, coefficients of LMIs are functions of a parameter confined to a compact set. Since PLMIs generate infinite LMIs, we use relaxation technique, find the finite solution for robust non-fragile filter, and show that the resulting filter guarantees the asymptotic stability with parameter uncertainties and filter fragility. Finally, a numerical example will be shown.
In recent years, significant research has been conducted to enhance the performance of existing membranes for efficient CO2 capture, aiming to expand their application in carbon capture processes. Membrane technology has emerged as a promising carbon capture approach to addressing the net-zero challenge due to its cost and energy efficiency, continuous operation, and compact process size. Among the various types of membranes studied, mixed-matrix membranes (MMMs) have been proposed as an alternative to conventional membranes to enhance the efficiency of gas separation processes. Various common 2D nanomaterials, characterized by their ease of modification, functionalization, and compatibility with other materials, have been used to create efficient MMMs for gas separation. This article comprehensively reviews the recent developments in MMMs using 2D nanomaterials. It also discusses the current challenges and prospects of 2D nanomaterial-based membranes for CO2 separation and capture.
