  • A Capacitor Commutated Converter (CCC) has less difficulty of commutation failure in comparison to the conventional line commutated converter. This paper proposes the Ar1R control of the CCC in the inverter operation, which deserves as the Ar1R of the conventional converter. The CCC can be operated in high power factor area by using the proposing Ar1R control. The voltage stability at an AC bus connected the CCC inverter is investigated and estimated its ability of preventing the AC voltage collapse. To estimate the voltage stability, this paper developed the simplified converter mathematical model and led the VSF index. The results shows that the AC voltage stability is guaranteed and enables the interconnection to an weak AC system, when compensation factor of the compensation capacitor is higher than 200%.

  • BLDCM(Brushless D.C. Motor) is widely used for industrial application because of high efficiency and high power density Especially, in servo system and home appliance, BLBCM is very useful due to high control performance and low acoustic noise. In this paper, 2.5HP rated BLDCM controller and drive was developed for tread mill application. The prototype BLDCM has 4 poles rotor and 24 slots stator. Ferrite was used as a rotor magnet due to the cost and temperature characteristic. For the stable operation of tread mill, over current and high temperature can be detected by the DSP controller. For the commutation signal, switching patterns from the sensorless circuit and hall sensor signal are used in the DSP controller.

  • A new soft switched active snubber circuit is proposed to achieve zero voltage and zero current switching for all the switching devices in PWM DC-DC converters. The unique location of the snubber capacitor and inductor ensures low current/voltage stresses and commutation losses. With a saturable reactor, the conduction loss of the auxiliary switch could be further minimized. A boost converter adopting this technique is presented as an example, to illuminate its operation principles and derive the design procedures. Simulation and hardware implementation have been made to validate its performance. Some other basic PWM DC-DC topologies using the proposed snubber have also been given.

  • This paper proposes a unity power factor ZVT PWM single-phase rectifier. The ZVT soft switching are achieved by using a simple ZVT circuit, and the reduced conduction losses are achieved by employing a single-stage converter, instead of a typical double-stage converter composed of front end diode rectifier and cascaded boost rectifier. Furthermore, thanks to good features such as simple PWM control at constant frequency, low switch stress and low VAR rating of commutation circuits, it is suitable for high power applications. The principle of operation is explained in detail, and simulation results of the new converter are also included.

  • This paper presents a soft switching converter to achieve the functions of zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on for the power switches and dc voltage step-up. Two circuit modules are connected in parallel in order to achieve load current sharing and to reduce the size of the transformer core. An active snubber is connected between two transformers in order to absorb the energy stored in the leakage and magnetizing inductances and to limit the voltage stresses across the switches. During the commutation stage of the two complementary switches, the output capacitance of the two switches and the leakage inductance of the transformers are resonant. Thus, the power switches can be turned on under ZVS. No output filter inductor is used in the proposed converter and the voltage stresses of the output diodes is clamped to the output voltage. The circuit configuration, the operation principles and the design considerations are presented. Finally, laboratory experiments with a 340W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

  • This paper proposes the power conversion mechanism of a bailer-charge-transfer zero-current-switching (CT-ZCS) circuit. The operation modes are analyzed and researched using state trajectory equations. The topology of CT-ZCS based on soft-switching inverters offers some merits such as: tracking the input reference signal dynamically, bearing load shock and short circuit, multiplying inverter N+1 redundancy parallel, coordinating power balance for easy control, and soft-switching commutation for high efficiency and large capacity. These advantages are distinctive from conventional inverter topologies and are especially demanded in AC drives: new energy generation and grid, distributed generation systems, switching power amplifier, active power filter, and reactive power compensation and so on. Prototype is manufactured and experiment results show the feasibility and dynamic voltage-tracking characteristics of the topology.

  • Combination the several type of single phase power conversion utilized simply topology are proposed in this paper. Totally four kind of converter are investigated, they are Boost AC/AC Converter, Buck AC/AC Converter, Boost AC/DC Converter, and Buck DC/AC Converter. Two types action mode are presented to determine the functional of circuit. First is AC chopper action mode, representation of the AC/AC converter. AC chopper action mode offered the sinusoidal current waveform, better power factor, faster dynamics, and smaller input/output filter. They present high robustness, offer safe commutation and have high efficiency. The second is full bridge action mode, determined the transformation AC to DC power and otherwise. Four switching devices and one magnetic contactor will establish the mode operation of circuit and manage the flow of power proceed in proper. The correction and advance of the kind of converter are verified by simulation.

  • This paper presents a new sensorless vector control system for high performance induction motor drives fed by a matrix converter with non-linearity compensation and disturbance observer. The nonlinear voltage distortion that is caused by commutation delay and on-state voltage drop in switching device is corrected by a new matrix converter modeling. The lumped disturbances such as parameter variation and load disturbance of the system are estimated by the radial basis function network (RBFN). An adaptive observer is also employed to bring better responses at the low speed operation. Experimental results are shown to illustrate the performance of the proposed system.

  • This paper presents a boost circuit topology driving in high - frequency. It solves the problem which arised from hard-switching in high-frequency using a period of resonant circuit and operating under the principle of ZCS turn-on and ZCZVS turn-off commutation schemes. In the existing circuit, it has the high voltage stress in free-wheeling diode. But in the proposed circuit, it has voltage stress which is lower than voltage stress of existing circuit with modifing a location of free-wheeling diode. In this paper, it explained the circuit operation of each mode and the waveform of each mode. Also the experiment result compares the existing voltage stress of free-wheeling diode with the proposed voltage stress of that.
