  • Complementary use of several modalities in human-to-human communication ensures high accuracy, and only few communication problem occur. Therefore, multimodal interface is considered as the next generation interface between human and computer. This paper presents the current status and research themes of speech-based multimodal interface technology, It first introduces about the concept of multimodal interface. It surveys the recognition technologies of input modalities and synthesis technologies of output modalities. After that it surveys integration technology of modality. Finally, it presents research themes of speech-based multimodal interface technology.

  • In this paper, a new method of Eye Movement Pattern Encoding (EMPE) which is based on electrooculography(EOG) was suggested for the purpose of effective communication between man and machine, instead of Point-Of-Regard-Selection (PORS) method. Also, ocular interface is designed and the typing aid, eye-pattern writer, was constructed for the test of theoretical validity and its practical aspect. Effect of eye fatigue on the performance of ocular interface was quantified through fatigue test.

  • 유비쿼터스 환경에서 사용자는 언제 어디서나 주변에 편재하는 컴퓨팅 장치나 서비스를 활용하여 자신이 필요로 하는 작업을 수행할 수 있다. 이러한 컴퓨팅 장치와 서비스를 제어하기 위한 표준으로서 UPnP(Universal Plug and Play)가 각광을 받고 있다. 하지만, 기존에 개발된 UPnP 장치의 원격 제어 프로그램은 사용자의 상황 정보, 선호도 및 접근 권한에 관계없이 동일한 사용자 인터페이스를 제공하기 때문에 사용자에게 편의를 제공하는데 있어 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위하여 개발된 개인화 및 상황 인지를 지원하는UPnP 장치 원격 제어 프로그램의 설계 및 구현에 대해 기술한다. 제안된 원격 제어 프로그램은 사용자의 상황, 선호도 및 접근 권한에 따라 사용자 인터페이스(User Interface, UI)가 동적으로 생성되고 재구성된다. 또한 이러한 UI 개발의 편의성을 위하여 UPnP 장치 기술(description)에 따라 UI를 자동으로 생성하는 방법에 대해서도 기술한다.

  • The DAta management and Communication NETworks (DACONET), Which it is designed as a subsystem for Man-Machine Interface System of Korea Advanced LIquid MEtal Reactor(KALIMER MMIS) and advanced design concept is approached, is described. The DACONET has its roles of providing the real-time data transmission and communication paths between MMIS systems, providing the quality data for protection, monitoring and control of KALIMER and logging the static and dynamic behavioral data during KALIMER operation.   • This paper deals with the network interface of research and observation instruments in the oceanographic research vessel with an establishment of related database for measured information. The system is implemented to integrated communication network system which allows to effective survey by using real time observation and GUI(Graphic User Interface). The system also consists of the LAN systems and serial interface to link chemical, physical, biological and environmental relations. And, other network service and vessel data service for data communication between vessel and earth station such as INMARSAT-B, WWW service, BBS, E-Mail etc., are needed for integrated communication network system.

  • This paper describes the communication method of an auto-startup system. The Auto-Startup system is designed to operate a nuclear power plant automatically during the startup operation . In general , the operations during startup in existing plant have only been manually controlled by the operator. The manual operation caused to the operator mistake. The Auto-Startup system consists of the Distributed Control System(DCS) and G2 (Expert System). Also, Functional Test Facility(FTF) provides the plant's real-data for an Auto-Startup system. So, it is necessary to develop the communication method between these systems. We developed two methods ; one is a network and the other is a hardwire line. To communicate between these systems (DCS-G2 and DCS-FTF) , we developed the communication program. In case of DCS-FTF, we used the TCP/IP and VXI. BUt, in case of DCS-G2 , we , what it called , developed the bridge program using the GSI(G2 Standard Interface). We test to check the function of the important parameter, in time, for analysis of the developed communication method. The results are a good performance when we check the communication time of important parameter. We conclude that Auto-startup system could save heat-up time about at least 5 hours and reduced the change of the reactor operation and trip.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel motion recognition platform using smart-phone tracking and color communication. The interface requires only a camera and a personal smart-phone to provide a motion control interface rather than expensive equipment. The platform recognizes the user's gestures by the tracking 3D distance and the rotation angle of the smart-phone, which acts essentially as a motion controller in the user's hand. Also, a color coded communication method using RGB color combinations is included within the interface. Users can conveniently send or receive any text data through this function, and the data can be transferred continuously even while the user is performing gestures. We present the result that implementation of viable contents based on the proposed motion recognition platform.
