Design and Implementation of Visible Light Communication Circuit with a Built-in Distance Compensation Function (거리 보상 기능이 내장된 가시광 통신 회로 설계와 구현)

  • In the visible light (VL) communication based on the conventional LED lights, depending on the increase of the communication range, the signal received at the photodiode of the VL receiver has usually the random distorted and decreased amplitude due to the path loss and fading effects of the VL channel. In order to overcome this problem, we propose, design, and implement the visible light communication circuit based on the comparator threshold voltage, where has a built-in distance compensation function. In addition, the performance of the proposed technique is evaluated and analyzed depending on the distance and communication speed through comparing the proposed VLC system based on the threshold voltage with the conventional one.

  • In this paper, we propose the controllability function and service design to efficiently implement the control of the disaster communication network, using Internet of Things(IoT) Technology. In accordance with the spread of Information Communication Technology(ICT), the era for building a disaster communications system without exclusion over the entire areas has emerged. National wireless mesh networks for public safety and disaster relief have been evolving to strengthen the pre-disaster response system using the latest technologies through the convergence of various technologies and services from the viewpoint of the command and control between disaster response agencies. In line with such a technological paradigm shift, the controllability of the objects in the IoT has been emerging as a key quality requirement of a disaster communications system. In this study, the objects are classified by the subject of control according to the IoT component, such as data, network resources and services in order to effectively implement their controllability. In addition, based on the destination of this controllability, technologies and services have been designed that can reduce the damage caused by disasters. Technologies and services that were derived from this study must be implemented in the current disaster safety network systems together with the establishment of an infrastructure for the networks in order that all persons are able to effectively utilize the disaster communications system for their safety.

  • This study presents a method for generating IEC 61850 Sampled Values(SV) traffic by combining the emulation function of network simulator ns-3 with the actual communication equipment. For the SV traffic generation and reception, the emulation function of the network simulator ns-3 is used, while as a communication network, the actual communication equipment, switches are used. In addition, the SV traffic frames generated are analyzed, using Wireshark, and it is confirmed that the SV traffic frames are generated accurately. The method for the SV traffic generation proposed in the present study will be very useful when various SV traffics are generated under the environment of an actual substation.

  • High speed railway system is progressed to SRN(Smart Railway Network) having entirely automation function beyond each componet automations. It is necessity to use mobile communication technology of LTE-R(Long Term Evolution - Railway) and 5G-R(5th Generation - Railway) and information technology of convergence based on AI, Big Data, Deep Learning to construct this smart railway networks. In this paper, a communication structure is suggested for SRN. This suggested communication structure for SRN is composed to include safety operation of high speed train, railway system management and customer services, and also have complexing function of these each functions. Results of this study can be used for SRN construction and opeation, and development of railway communication standards.

  • Chaos communication systems have the characteristics such as non-periodic, wide-band, non-predictability of signals and easy implementation. There have been many studies about chaos communication systems because of these advantages. But, chaos communication systems have low BER(Bit Error Rate) compare to general digital communication system. Existing researches on chaos communication systems only analyze BER performance according to various chaos maps. There are no studies on analysis of BER performance according to PDF(Probability Density Function) of chaos maps. In this paper, we analyze the BER performance according to changing parameter, equation, and initial values of chaos map's PDF. In addition, we propose new chaos map to improve BER performance. Simulation results show that BER performance of CDSK(Correlation Delay Shift Keying) is changed when PDF of chaos map changed. And the proposed chaos map has a better BER performance compare to previous chaos maps such as Tent map, Logistic map, and Henon map.

  • This paper addresses the design of trTCM (Two Rate Three Color Marker) described in RFC2698. It has proposed for trTCM to be used in Differentiated Service network that provides AF PHB (Assured Forwarding Per Hop Behavior). trTCM is the marker with the metering function, and consists of the token updating function and the marking function. The token updating function uses the dual token bucket. The marking function compares the token values with the length of input packet and then marks the result into IP QoS field (ToS field). In this paper, we design trTCM function and then addresses the scheme to implement it using FPGA technology.

  • Recently, Zhang proposed a scheme to hide information in encrypted images using synchronous stream ciphers. After the receiver decrypts the encrypted image and extracts data by calculating the spatial correlation property value using the fluctuation function which is designed to calculate spacial correlation between adjacent pixels in a decrypted image. Then, Hong improved the Zhang's data hiding scheme by introducing the side match technique. In this paper, a novel fluctuation function is proposed to reduce the recovery errors which arise during extracting hidden data. Then, we also demonstrated that the proposed fluctuation function outperforms the previous functions through computer simulations for sample images.
