  • New sensing and writing schemes for a magneto-resistive random access memory (MRAM) with a twin cell structure are proposed. In order to enhance the cell reliability, a scheme of the low voltage precharge is employed to keep the magneto resistance (MR) ratio constant. Moreover, a common gate amplifier is utilized to provide sufficient voltage signal to the bit line sense amplifiers under the small MR ratio structures. To enhance the writing reliability, a current mode technique with tri-state current drivers is adopted. During write operations, the bit and /bit lines are connected. And 'HIGH' or 'LOW' data is determined in terms of the current direction flowing through the MTJ cell. With the viewpoint of the improved reliability of the cell behavior and sensing margin, HSPICE simulations proved the validity of the proposed schemes.

  • This paper describes the measurement and location method of partial discharges in high voltage CV cables. Coupling capacitors were used to detect partial discharge signal. Impedance characteristic of the coupling circuit and an amplifier with a high Common Mode Rejection Ratio(CMRR) were studied to improve sensitivity of the circuit. From the calibration experiment, the sensitivity of the partial discharge detection circuit was about 100pC. Also, we confirmed that the location of partial discharges in cables can be estimated by calculation of time difference between the first pulse and the second one reflected from the other end of the cable.

  • Since the most of malfunctions in the industrial equipment controlled by processors is consist of the electrical fast transient (EFT)$^{[1],[2]}$TEX>, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) prepared the dummy signal to test the immunity level of the equipments. To work out a countermeasure for the malfunction, We designed a new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filter for high power supply, which is consisted of a feed-through capacitor and ferrite materials with high permeability. The ferrite material is surrounded with a power cable or is inserted on the cable’s second layer in order to increase common-mode inductance. We have obtained a excellent insertion loss characteristics over the frequency band from 150 kHz to 30 MHz. The developed new EMC filter satisfy IEC 61000-4-4 and is suitable for industrial, militaly, and medical equipments with reduced malfuntions.

  • This paper presents a definition of sync phenomenon occurring in power systems, and describes the characteristics of sync in basic electric circuits. In addition, sync observed in basic circuits was extended to the analysis of dynamic characteristics in power systems. This paper, moreover, describes the sync occurring among system outputs from time domain simulation for two-area systems. In power systems, sync is a common phenomenon that is always observed among generator powers or bus voltages. Thus, we can use sync to obtain the characteristics of power systems without being bound to a specific operating point. Sync can be useful information in power system operation and planning.

  • In this work, the frequency response of gate-all-around (GAA) Ge/GaAs heterojunction tunneling field-effect transistor (TFET) with hetero-gate-dielectric (HGD) and pnpn channel doping profile has been analysed by technology computer-aided design (TCAD) device-circuit mixed-mode simulations, with comparison studies among ppn, pnpn, and HGD pnpn TFET devices. By recursive tracing of voltage transfer curves (VTCs) of a common-source (CS) amplifier based on the HGD pnpn TFET, the operation point (Q-point) was obtained at $V_{DS}=1V$, where the maximum available output swing was acquired without waveform distortion. The slope of VTC of the amplifier was 9.21 V/V (19.4 dB), which mainly resulted from the ponderable direct-current (DC) characteristics of HGD pnpn TFET. Along with the DC performances, frequency response with a small-signal voltage of 10 mV has been closely investigated in terms of voltage gain ($A_v$), unit-gain frequency ($f_{unity}$), and cut-off frequency ($f_T$). The Ge/GaAs HGD pnpn TFET demonstrated $A_v=19.4dB$, $f_{unity}=10THz$, $f_T=0.487$ THz and $f_{max}=18THz$.

  • The proposed EMC filter composed with feed-through capacitors and ferrite beads of high permeability was prepared which satisfy the EMC standard for a wide-band noise signal in the frequence of 10 MHz to 1.5 GHz in power supply line. The optimum structure of ferrite bead was found by calculating the load effect of ferrite beads. As a result, the filter showed excellent differential- and common-mode noises filtering characteristics above 30dB in the frequency band from 10 MHz to 1.5 GHz. The immunity characteristics are improved more than 10 to 30 dB over the frequency band from DC to 1.8GHz.

  • Cuff electrodes have a benefit for chronic electroneurogram(ENG) recording while minimizing nerve damage. However, the ENG signals are usually contaminated by electromyogram(EMG) activity from the surrounding muscle, the thermal noise generated within the source resistance, and the electric noise generated primarily at the first stage of the amplifier. This paper proposes a new cuff electrode to reduce the interference of EMG signals. An additional middle electrode was placed at the center of cuff electrode. As a result, the proposed cuff electrode achieved a higher signal-to-interference ratio compared to the conventional tripolar cuff. The cuff electrode was then assembled together with closure, headstage, and hermetic case including electronic circuits. This paper also presents a lownoise amplifier system to improve signal-to-noise ratio. The circuit was designed based on the noise analysis to minimize the electronic noise. The result shows that the total noise of the amplifier was below $1{\mu}V_{rms}$ for a cuff impedance of $1\;k{\Omega}$ and the common-mode rejection ratio was 115 dB at 1 kHz. In the current study, the performance of nerve cuff electrode system was evaluated by monitoring afferent nerve signals under mechanical stimuli in a rat animal model.

  • We have designed the system that measure one channel ECG by two electrode and extract real-time EDR with more related resipiration and comportable to subject by using conductive textile. On the assumption that relation between RL electrode and potential measurement electrode is coupled with RC connected model, we designed RL drive output to feedback two electrode for reduction of common mode signal. The conductive textile which was used for two ECG electrode was offered more comfort during night sleep in bed than any other method using attachments. In the method of single-lead EDR, R wave point or QRS interval area could be used for EDR estimation in traditional method, it is, so to speak, the amplitude modulation(AM) method for EDR. Alternatively, R-R interval could be used for frequency modulation(FM) method based on Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia(RSA). For evaluation of performance on AM EDR and FM EDR from 14 subject, ECG lead III was measured. Each EDR was compared with both temperature around nose(direct measurement of respiration) and respiration signal from thoracic belt(indirect measurement of respiration) on mean squared error(MSE), cross correlation(Xcorr), and Coherence. The upsampling interpolation technique of multirate signal processing is applied to interpolating data instead of cubic spline interpolation. As a result, we showed the real-time EDR extraction processing to be implemented at micro-controller.
