상용차 캐빈 내의 열전모듈에 의한 열유동 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on the Thermal Flow by a Thermoelectric Module within the Cabin of a Commercial Vehicle)

  • The steady three-dimensional numerical analysis on the thermal flow using standard k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model was carried out to investigate the air cooling effect of a cooler on the cabin for a commercial vehicle. Here, the heat exchanging method of this cabin cooler uses the cooling effect of a thermoelectric module. In consequence, the air system resistance of a cooler within the cabin is about 12.1 Pa as a static pressure, and then the operating point of a virtual cross-flow fan considering in this study is formed in the comparatively low flowrate region. The discharging air temperature of a cooler is about $14{\sim}15^{\circ}C$. Moreover, the air cooling temperature difference obtained under the outdoor cabin temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ shows about $7{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ in a driver resting space and about $9{\sim}14^{\circ}C$ in the front of a driver's seat including the space of a driver's foot.

  • The temperature control system for semiconductor test handler is designed. We controlled the temperature of chamber using 3-wire RTD sensor and MVME EMbedded controller. VxWorks that is a real-time operating system is used and heater is controlled by PWM. Temperature fluctuation of chamber is decreased within 0.3.deg. C, which is about one-half of that of commercial controller.

  • First commercial optical fiber communication system has been installed between Guro (Seoul) and Gansuk (Inoheon). The total route length is 35km. The system operates at $0.85\mum$. It contains 3 repeaters and the repeater spacing is about 9 km. The operating system parameters meet their design objectives.

  • The 30m, 3phase, 22.9kV HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) power cable system was produced by LS Cable Ltd. The project aims for a commercial HTS cable. The designing, the manufacturing and the initial operating of HTS cable system were completed by 2004. Then, we have performed a long term operational test since February, 2005. This paper mainly reports the result of the HTS cable cooling operation.

  • Reactivity of commercial WGS catalyst and four new catalysts(RMC-3, PC-73, PC-67SU, PC-59) manufactured with various compositions by Korea Electric Power Research Institute(KEPCO RI) were compared to select suitable WGS catalyst for SEWGS system. Steam/CO ratio, gas velocity, flow rates of syngas, and temperature were considered as operating variables. As a result, commercial catalyst showed the highest CO conversion and RMC-3 catalyst showed also high CO conversion. Therefore, commercial and RMC-3 catalysts were selected as applicable catalysts. However, PC-73 catalyst showed low CO conversion at low temperature($200^{\circ}C$) but showed good reactivity at high temperature($225{\sim}250^{\circ}C$), and therefore, PC-73 catalyst was selected as applicable catalyst for high temperature operation. Continuous operations up to 24 hours for those three catalysts(commercial, RMC-3, PC-73) were conducted to check reactivity decay of catalysts. All three catalysts maintained their original reactivity.

  • Characteristics of a commercial metal hydride (MH) hydrogen supply system have been investigated and an operating strategy was developed based on the experimental data. As a prior step, charging/discharging capacity, thermal properties such as heat capacity, heat of reaction of MH system were experimentally measured. And then P-C-T data for various operating conditions were collected and a correlation between P, C and T predicting the behavior of MH was derived. Based on the basic experimental data, an operating strategy of MH system was developed, in which the hot water temperature supplied into the water jacket of MH was controlled depending on the pressure of MH, thereby the pressure of MH could be maintained at a suitable range. By adjusting the temperature of hot water from $40^{\circ}C$ to $60^{\circ}C$, the maximum discharging capacity of hydrogen could be increased by 4.7%, and consequently more stable hydrogen supply and longer operation time of fuel cell system could be achieved.

  • For a commercial building, property managers play an important role in maximizing the benefit by reducing cost and increasing revenue in the operation and maintenance phase of the building. However, most of property managers are spending their time in monitoring facility managers who have little impact on cost reduction and maximization of operating profit. The industry practitioners have difficutlty in increasing the efficiency of thier work due to this work environment. In addition, both property managers(PMr) and facility managers(FMr) are dependent on the paper drawings and manuals, which can worsen the inefficiency and human errors are inevitable. This study aims to contribute to improvement of the current practice by developing a novel algorithm that autmatically links the facility information with 3D model, which can provide an efficient property management for commercial buildings.

EV 상용차용 히트펌프 시스템 냉방 운전 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance Characteristics of Heat Pump System on Cooling Mode for Light-duty Commercial Electric Vehicles)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 EV 경상용차에 적용되는 히트펌프 시스템에 대한 냉방 성능 특성을 실험적으로 분석하는 것이다. EV 경상용차가 운전되는 냉방 운전조건인 외기온도 35 ℃, 내기온도 25 ℃ 상황에서, 히트펌프 시스템의 냉방 특성을 분석하고자, 냉각수의 온도조건, 전동식 압축기 회전수 조건 변화에 대해서, 실험을 진행하였고, 그 결과를 분석하였다. 전동식 압축기 회전수가 증가할수록 냉방 성능이 평균 8.0 %가 증가하였고, 전동식 압축기 소비전력은 27 %가 증가하여서, 시스템 효율은 16.4 %가 감소하는 결과를 보여주고 있다. 전자장비 냉각을 위한 냉각수의 폐열을 활용하기 위하여서, 냉매랑 냉각수가 열교환 하는 칠러를 본 시스템에 적용하였다. 칠러에 적용되는 냉각수의 온도를 35 ℃에서 55℃로 변화시켰을 때, 응축 열원의 증가로 인하여서, 시스템 효율이 평균적으로 18.2 %가 떨어지는 결과를 보여주고 있다. 냉각수 유량 변화 측면에서, 운전 조건을 변화시켰지만, 냉방 성능에는 큰 변화를 보이고 있지 않았다. 향후, 냉각수 폐열을 사용하여서, 히트펌프 시스템에 대한 난방 성능 향상을 위한 연구가 필요한 상황에서, 관련 연구에 추가 할 예정이다.

  • The CANDU nuclear-electric generating system, developed in Canada beginning in about 1950, has reached full maturity with 22 units operating in other countries, and 13 units under construction, as shown in Table 1. Production and economic performance of modern CANDU units is competitive with other nuclear generating stations in the world. The safety record of these plants is excellent; their level of safety protection against severe accidents is at least equal to that of other commercial designs.

Low temperature-operating NiO-CoO butane gas sensors

  • $NiO,\;Cu_2O,\;Mn_2O_3$ and $Cr_2O_3$ as p-type semiconductors were added in CoO with 15 wt.% ethylene glycol binder and measured the butane gas sensing characteristics. The highest sensitivity is obtained for the NiO-CoO sensors. CoO-20 at.% NiO sensor with 15 wt.% ethylene glycol binder sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 24 h exhibits high sensitivity of 90 % to 5000 ppm butane gas at the sensor temperature of $250^{\circ}C$, compared to low sensitivities at the low operating temperature for commercial sensors. Response and recovery times are, respectively, within few seconds and 1min in the static flow system, indicating rapid adsorption and desorption of butane gas on sensor surface even at this low temperature.
