Indoor seed treatments to elevate seedling emergence should be of value. The study was done to model the presown treatments of Platycodon grandiflorum seeds by evaluating the treatment effects of priming,$GA_3$, drying and water imbibition after drying on their germination and then their successive seed treatments on the basis of its seedling emergence. after priming using $Ca(NO_3)_2\;and\;GA_3$ treatment under their different concentrations and light quality illuminated for 12 hours a day were done separately and their two best results were compared to determine the better one, drying of imbibed seeds using the above best result and water imbibition of the dried seeds were successively done to check the rates of germination and emergence. In each treatment of priming and $GA_3$, the former best germination occurred at $Ca(NO_3)_2$ 150 mM done under 2 day darkness but the latter one did at 0.01 mM done under 12 hour a day red light forced for 3 days. Of the two best results from priming and $GA_3$ treatments, the latter result was shown higher germination rate. $GA_3$ treated seeds were best desiccated under $35^{\circ}C$ and 4 hour red light illumination. The germination rate of seeds dried after $GA_3$ treatment was enhanced as imibibed 2 days immediately before sowing. Seedling emergence of all 3 successive treatments, $GA_3$, drying and water imbibition before sowing was the greatest than the two others, only $GA_3$ treatment and the combination of $GA_3$ and drying, in which indicated that its presown seed treatment must follow the successive procedure of the above 3 ones.

This study was examined for investigating the quality changes of spring kimchi cabbage under various treatments (pre-drying/pre-cooling, packaging types, and stacking and loading in container and pallete in the storage room) during cold storage. The results showed that control (upward stacking without pre-drying/pre-cooling and HDPE or PVC film cover) was increased significantly in weight loss and trimming loss, compared to other treatments such as DPDH (downard stacking + pre-drying + HDPE), DPDP (downard stacking + pre-drying + PVC), DPCH (downnard stacking + pre-cooling + HDPE), and UPCH (upward stacking + pre-cooling +HDPE) during storage for three months. In Sensory evaluation, judging from marketable properties, the desirable appearance of spring kimchi cabbage with the modified pallet-unit MA packed, PE, and PVC film wrapping could be maintained until 9 weeks after pre-drying/pre-cooling. Meanwhile, the control without any treatments after 6 weeks, the sensory score was declined, significantly. In general, the low temperature (10℃ and 2℃) of pre-treatment with combination of plastic film packaging in spring kimchi cabbage storage could inhibit the physiological activity and reduce the direct exposure of environmental cold air in the storage. Therefore, these two variables were the key points for extending the shelf-life of spring kimchi cabbage.
With growing concerns of environment and due to strengthening the government regulations on volatile organic compounds(VOC) the coatings industries are developing new technologies to reduce the amount of VOC released from coatings. In this study. a water soluble curing agent of amino-epoxy adduct was synthesized and its structure was identified by FT-IR, GPC and TG/DTA. The mechanical properties of the new curing agent in combination of KER-828 and KER-500 were investigated respectively. As an experimental result, the drying time of KER-828 was faster than that of KER-500 but the adhesion and impact strength of KER-500 was better than that of KER-828.

PURPOSES : This study focuses on the evaluation of interface performance with varying surface texture and tack coat application in an asphalt overlay. METHODS : The evaluation is carried out in two phases: tracking test and interface bond strength test. Using an image processing tool, tracking test is conducted to evaluate the susceptibility of the tack coat material to produce excessive tracking during application. Using the pull-off test method, the bond strength test is performed to determine the ability of the interface layer to resist failure. RESULTS : Results show that the underseal application yields less tracking compared to other applications. However, the bond strength is barely within the minimum acceptable value. On the other hand, RSC-4 produces higher bond strength for all surface types, but the drying time is long, which produces excessive tracking. CONCLUSIONS : While underseal application may be suitable for a trackless condition, the bond strength is less appealing compared to the rest of the tack applications available. RSC-4 demonstrated a high and consistent bond strength performance, but more time is required for drying to avoid excessive tracking. Tack coat application and surface type combination produce varying results. Therefore, these should be considered when selecting suitable future tack coat application options.
Foam concrete can be considered as environmental friendly material due to its low weight, its minimal cost and a possibility to add waste materials in its production. This paper investigates the possibility of producing foam concrete with waste glass as powder and aggregate. Then, the effect of using waste glass on strength and drying shrinkage of foam concrete was examined. Also, the effect of incorporating polypropylene fibers (12 mm length and proportion of 0.5% of a mix volume) on distribution of waste glass as coarse particles within 1200 kg/m3 foam concrete mixes was evaluated. Waste glass was used as powder (20% of cement weight), as coarse particles (25%, 50% and 100% instead of sand volume) and as fine particles (25% instead of sand volume). From the results, the problem of non-uniform distribution of coarse glass particles was successfully solved by adding polypropylene fibers. It was found that using of waste glass as coarse aggregate led to reduce the strength of foam concrete mixes. However, using it with polypropylene fibers in combination helped in increasing the strength by about 29- 50% for compressive and 55- 71% for splitting tensile and reducing the drying shrinkage by about (31- 40%). In general, not only the fibers role but also the uniformly distributed coarse glass particles helped in improving and enhancing the strength and shrinkage of the investigated foam concrete mixes.

Porous W with spherical and directionally aligned pores was fabricated by the combination of sacrificial fugitives and a freeze-drying process. Camphene slurries with powder mixtures of $WO_3$ and spherical PMMA of 20 vol% were frozen at $-25^{\circ}C$ and dried for the sublimation of the camphene. The green bodies were heat-treated at $400^{\circ}C$ for 2 h to decompose the PMMA; then, sintering was carried out at $1200^{\circ}C$ in a hydrogen atmosphere for 2 h. TGA and XRD analysis showed that the PMMA decomposed at about $400^{\circ}C$, and $WO_3$ was reduced to metallic W at $800^{\circ}C$ without any reaction phases. The sintered bodies with $WO_3$-PMMA contents of 15 and 20 vol% showed large pores with aligned direction and small pores in the internal walls of the large pores. The pore formation was discussed in terms of the solidication behavior of liquid camphene with solid particles. Spherical pores, formed by decomposition of PMMA, were observed in the sintered specimens. Also, microstructural observation revealed that struts between the small pores consisted of very fine particles with size of about 300 nm.
This study is intended to analyze the effectiveness of expansive additive, shrinkage reducing agent and combination of the two to reduce the autogenous and drying shrinkage of high performance concrete using mineral admixture such as fly ash, blast furnace slag powder and silica fume. According to results, when expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent are mixed within an appropriate mixing ratio, fluidity and air content are not influenced, and the enhancement of compressive strength is favorable at the age of 91 and 180days. At the mixing ratio of expansive additive of 5% and 10%, the autogenous and drying shrinkage is reduced by 32∼68% and 25∼49% respectively in comparison with plain concrete. And they are reduced by 18∼34% and 16∼26% respectively at the mixing ratio of shrinkage reducing agent of 0.5% and 1.0%, compared with plain concrete. The mixture of EA-SR combined with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent is most effective for reduction of shrinkage. Therefore, it is considered that the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent is effective to reduce the shrinkage of high performance concrete using mineral admixture such as fly ash, blast slag powder and silica fume.
Adhesion of $SrZrO_3$ resistive oxide barrier on Ag sheathed Bi(2223) tapes prepared by the sol-gel and dip-coating method was evaluated with an aid of Taguchi method and Lie($2^1{\times}3^7$) orthogonal arrays to determine the optimal process combination of levels of factors that best satisfy the bigger is better quality characteristic (QC=B). For analyses of results statistical calculations such as average and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to analyze the results for improving the performance qualities of the dip-coated $SrZrO_3$ film. Experimentally, the performance of the films was evaluated in terms of bond strength by varying Sr/Zr moi ratio (A), amount of organic vehicle additives (B), drying temperature (C) and time (D), heat treatment temperature (E) and time (F), respectively. The optimal combination of levels of factors was determined to be $A_3B_2C_3D_2E_1F_3$ having a 90% confidence level.
This study presents an eco-friendly persimmon drying system to satisfy consumer preferences and provide a popular food for both the domestic and international markets. The most effective antimicrobial compounds were developed from a combination of plant extracts (18.18% clove buds, 9.90% cinnamon, 9.09% licorice, 4.55% cnidium, 4.55% seed of grapefruit, and 54.54% apple vinegar). The dried persimmons were evaluated as regards their moisture and sugar content, weight, hardness, and color value. During the drying process, the overall moisture content of the persimmons increased, along with the sugar content. The hardness was almost the same for each region and decreased on an average of 0.5~0.86 after 6 weeks. As regards the chromaticity, ${\Delta}E$ decreased during the drying process, while L-value became darker and a-value showed a dark red color over time.

Generally, the high performance concrete of drying cracking and autogenous shrinkage are tend to be increased. In the previous study, it was found that the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent was more effective than the separtely using method of that. This study is to investigated the durability of high performance concrete using expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent. Test results showed that the high performance concrete using expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent had very good not only the durability performance such as salt injury, carbonation, resistance to freezing-thawing and permeability but also the resistance to shrinkage.
