Pyroelectric property of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3-PbTiO_3$ ceramics for pyroelectric sensor application (초전센서 응용을 위한 $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3-PbTiO_3$ 세라믹계 초전특성)

  • Pyroelectric properties of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3$ ceramics prepared by the columbite precursor method have been investigated as a function of the sintering temperature in the range of $1000^{\circ}C$ to $1250^{\circ}C$. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3$ ceramics show typical relaxor ferroelectric behavior. The optimum condition for obtaining samples with high densities and improved pyroelectric properties occur at a sintering temperature of $1250^{\circ}C$ and sintering times of 2 hours. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}O_3-PbTiO_3$ ceramics show the possibility for pyroelectric sensors with pyrostat.

  • The dielectric properties and phase stabilities of Pb(Zn0.6Mg0.4)1/3Nb2/3O3 [PZMN]system were investigated into substitution of A-site with Ba, Sr and Ca ions. The A-site substitutions led to the complexity of components of perovskite phase and then DPT coefficient increased. The A-site substitutions of Ba or Sr ion perovskite single phase could be easily formed by columbite process due to increase of perovskite phase stability. The variation of lattice parameters in specimen obeyed Vegard's law and curie temperature and dielectric constant of specimen decreased linearly. But Ca substitution led to perovskite phae instability. The lattice parameter dielectric constant and curie temperature of specimens drasticaly decreased with formation of pyrochlore phase.

Pyroelectricity of Ni-doped PMNT Ferroelectric for Pyroelectric Detector

  • A pyroelctric properties of Ni(x)-doped PMNT systems were analyzed. Modified PMNT samples were prepared using the columbite structure method. Pyroelectric current, polarization, dielectric constant and dissipation factor of Ni-doped PMNT samples were measured as a function of temperature. By adding a small amount of NiO, pyroelectricity of PMNT is increased. Unlike the normal $ABO_3$ ferroelectric, Ni-doped PMNT showed properties for relaxor ferroelectric of causing the successive phase transition over a wide temperature. The optimum conditions for obtaining compositions with improvement ferroelectric properties are a nominal addition of 0.02 mole% Ni. Also, Ni-doped PMNT ferroelectric showed excellent pyroelectric figures of merit in the vicinity of room temperature. The pyroelectric coefficient ($0.00524C/m^2K$ at $25^{\circ}C$) and figures of merit ($F_v{\sim}0.039m^2/C$ and $F_d{\sim}0.664{\times}10^{-4}Pa^{-1/2}$) of composition PMNT with 0.02 mole% Ni are comparable to the earlier reports on lead-type pyroelectrics.

  • Dielectric properties of $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$, ceramics prepared by the columbite precursor method have been investigated as a function of the sintering temperature in the range of 1000∼$1250^{\circ}C$. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$ ceramics show typical relaxor ferroelectric behavior. As the sintering temperature increased, the dielectric constant increased and the phase transition temperature shifted to lower temperature. The TCK(temperature coefficient of dielectric constant) and VRK (variation rate of dielectric constant) increased with increasing sintering temperature. The $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-PbTiO_{3}$ compositions sintered at $1250^{\circ}C$ appear to be suitable for ferroelectric bolometer.

Effect of Pyrochlore Phase on Electric Properties for PNN-PT-PZ Piezoelectric Ceramics (PNN-PT-PZ계 압전세라믹스의 전기적 특성에 미치는 Pyrochlore 상의 영향)

  • The ceramics in the system 0.5[Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3]-0.5[0.65PbTiO3-0.35PbZrO3] were prepared by conventional solid state reaction method, double calcined method (columbite precursor method) and flux method using NaCl-KCl. Amount of pyrochlore phase for the calcined powders, sintering charateristrics, dielectric and piezoelectric properties were then investigated. Sintering temperature was 1000~120$0^{\circ}C$ and in case of flux method, the amount of flux to oxide was 1 : 1 mole ratio. The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of ceramics prepared by double calcined method and flux method were found to be better than those by conventional method. It was also possible to lower sintering temperature and reduce the amount of pyrochlore phase either by double calcined method or flux method. But with increasing sintering temperature, the difference in characteristrics due to diffrent fabrication method gradually.

  • $Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.07}(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})_{0.10}(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})_{0.83}O_3$ composition ceramics with high piezoelectric properties were fabricated by the columbite precursor method for ultrasonic generators, and the effects of sintering temperature on microstructure and piezoelectric properties were systematically investigated. It was found that the tetragonality of the ceramics decreased with increase in sintering temperature. Moreover, excellent physical properties such as $d_{33}=447pC/N$, ${\varepsilon}_r=1,843$, $k_p=0.641$, and $Q_m=1,207$ were obtained for an ultrasonic generator when the second calcination temperature and sintering temperature were $720^{\circ}C$ and $920^{\circ}C$, respectively.

Temperature Dependence of the Electric-field-induced Strains in PMN-based Relaxor Ferroelectrics (PMN계 완화형 강유전체에서 전왜특성의 온도 의존성)

  • 완화형 강유전체의 가장 대표적인 PMN계에서 첨가제의 종류와 함량, 측정온도, 인가 전계의형태 등의 변화에 따른 전계인가 변화특성을 광법위하게 조사하였다. Columbite precursor법에의해 분말을 준비하고 고상소결방법에 의하여 모든 시편을 제조하였다. 순수한 PMN에 첨가제로서 PbTiO3와 Pb(Zr, Ti)O3를 첨가한 경우에 완전한 perovskite 구조의 고용체가 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. T$\varepsilon$max이상에서는 변위의 이력이 크게 발생하는 강유전체의 거동을 보여주었다. 양방향으로 전계를 인가하여 변위를 이용하면 발생 strain은 실온 근방에서 온도에 대하여 안정적이지만 단방향 전계에 따른 변위는 온도에 따라 크기가 변한다는 것을 알 수 있었고 유전상수가 큰 경우가 전왜의 크기 또한 큰 것을 알 수 있었다. 0.9MN-0.1PT와 0.8PMN-0.2PZT의 경우 최대가 되는 온도는 유전율이 최대가 되는 온도보다 더 낮은 온도에서 나타났다.

  • In order to understand the electrostrictive behavior of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3(PMN-PT) solid solutions the dielectric constants and the electric-field-induced strains in (1-x)PMN-xPT (x=0.0-0.4) were investigated in the temperature range -5$0^{\circ}C$-20$0^{\circ}C$. Powder of (1-x)Pb(Mg2/3Nb2/3)O3-xPbTiO3 (x=0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.35, and 0.4) were prepared from the oxide forms of Pb, Mg, Nb and Ti via a columbite precursor method As the amount of PbTiO3 increases the temperature of maximum dielectric constant(T$\varepsilon$max) increases and the phase transition become less diffusive. The strain maximum occurs only when the diffuse phase transition occurs from rhombohedral to cubic or rhombohedral to tetragonal as in x=0.1-0.35 The strains monotonically decrease with temperature in the materials in which phase transition occurs from tetragonal to cubic as in x=0.4.

  • Dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of NiO-doped Pb($(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ ceramics were investigated. Powders, prepared by columbite precursor method, were cold pressed and sintered at temperature ranging from $1100^{\circ}C$ to $1250^{\circ}C$. Dielectric constant and piezoelectric constant increased with amount of NiO up to 1 mol% and then decreased with further addition of NiO. It seems that NiO acts as a sintering aid at the sintering temperatures of $1150^{\circ}C$. When the samples were sintered at temperature above $1200^{\circ}C$, however, both dielectric constant and electromechanical coupling factor decreased and mechanical quality coefficient increased with addition of NiO. Hardness and fracture toughness of PNN-PT-PZ increased with addition of NiO up to 1 mol%, and then decreased slightly with further addition of NiO. These results showed that dielectric properties, piezoelectric properties and mechanical properties of PNN-PT-PZ system seemed to be closely related with microstructural factors such as grain size, bulk density and the amount of second phase.

  • In this study, low temperature sintering property of the $0.6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$ ceramics with sintering adds were investigated for LTCC application which enable to cofiring with Ag electrode. $TiTe_3O_8$ mixed with $MgTiO_3$ to improve the temperature property. In the X-ray diffraction patterns, the columbite structure of $TiTe_3O_8$ phase and ilmenite structure of $MgTiO_3$ phase were coexisted in all specimens. In the case of SnO addition, the bulk density and dielectric constant were increased but quality factor was decreased with amount of SnO additions. The TCRF of the $0.6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$+xwt%SnO ceramics were shifted to negative direction. The dielectric constant, quality factor and TCRF of the $0.6TiTe_3O_8-0.4MgTiO_3$ ceramics with 2.5wt% addition of SnO sintered at $830^{\circ}C$ for 1hr were 29.86, 35,800 GHz, -0.58 ppm/$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
