It is easier to view flow visualization by using a water tunnel rather than a smoke wind tunnel because of low speed at same Reynolds number. Using a water tunnel also produces more definite flow visualization by the use of various color dyes. The flow uniformity in test section is very significant for accuracy of the test because most flow experiments elicit results through the installation of a model in uniform flow. The purpose of small-size desktop-type water tunnel is not to produce quantitative measurements, but rather to give a visualization of the fluid flow phenomenon. However, uniformity in the test section affects the accuracy of the results. Accordingly, this research estimates uniformity in a water tunnel test section by using the commercially available CFD code FLUENT. Results of the CFD analysis show that the flow uniformity of the test section is good.

In this paper, using ranks of co-occurrence frequency about indices in pairs of neighboring pixels, we introduce a new re-indexing algorithm for efficiency of index color image lossless compression. The proposed algorithm is suitable for arithmetic coding because it has concentrated distributions of small variance. Experimental results proved that the proposed algorithm reduces the bit rates than other coding schemes, more specifically $15\%$, $54\%$ and $12\%$ for LZW algorithm of GIF, the plain arithmetic coding method and Zeng's scheme, respectively.

Recent trend changes a criterion for evaluation of burner that environmental problem is raised as global issue. For efficient driving problem, the higher thermal efficiency and the lower oxygen in exhaust gas, burner is evaluated the better. For environmental problem, burner must satisfy $NO_{X}$ limit and CO limit. Consequently, 'good burner' means on whose thermal efficiency is high under the constraint of $NO_{X}$ and CO consistency. To make existing burner satisfy recent criterion, it is highly recommended to develop feedback control scheme whose output is the consistency of $NO_{X}$ and CO. This paper describes development of real time flame diagnosis technique that evaluate and diagnose combustion state such as consistency of components in exhaust gas, stability of flame in quantitative sense. This study focuses on wave length of luminescence from chemical reaction measurement of the luminescence via optical measuring apparatus and derive correlation with consistency of components in exhaust gas by image processing technique.

추상 이미지를 자동 생성하는 기법으로 유전자 알고리즘을 이용하는 방법은 다양한 형태의 이미지를 자동 생성할 수 있는 기법으로 유용하게 쓰일 수 있다. 그러나 다수의 자동 생성된 이미지를 보관하고 검색하는 과정에서 적절한 분류 방법이 제공되지 않아 관리의 어려움이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 아핀 추상 이미지를 효과적으로 분류하기 위한 체계로 형태요소, 감성요소, 색채요소를 이용한 분류 방법을 제안하고 이를 검색할 수 있는 데이터베이스를 설계한다.

The purpose of this study is to pointed artistic representation design on fashion through observation, integrating of the formative arts. Above all, designing principle should be considered with trend, styling ,coloring. This paper presents the proposal and hardware design of JPEG baseline encoder. The JPEG encoder system consists of line buffer, 2-D DCT, quantization, entropy encoding, and packer. A fully pipelined scheme for JPEG encoder is adopted to speed-up an image compression. The proposed architecture was described in VHDL and synthesized in Xilinx ISE 7.1i and simulated by modelsim 6.1i. The results showed that the performance of the designed JPEG baseline encoder is higher than that demanded by real-time applications for $1024{\times}768$ image size. The designed JPEG encoder IP can be easily integrated into various application systems, such as scanner, PC camera, color FAX, and network camera, etc.

This paper proposes an effective lane detection algorithm using hugh transform and lane model. The proposed lane detection algorithm includes two major components, i.e., lane marks segmentation and an exact lane extraction using a novel postprocessing technique. The first step is to segment lane marks from background images using HSV color model. Then, a novel postprocessing is used to detect an exact lane using Hugh transform and lane models(linear and curved lane models). The postprocessing consists of three parts, i.e, thinning process, Hugh Transform and filtering process. We divide input image into three regions of interests(ROIs). Based on lane curve function(LCF), we can detect an exact lane from various extracted lane lines. The lane models(linear and curved lane mode]) are used in order to judge whether each lane segment is fit or not in each ROIs. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme is very effective in lane detection.

A numerical method for simulating two-phase flows including surface force is presented. The method is based on fractional step method of finite volume formulation and the interface is tracked with PLIC VOF method. In the CSF model, as color function, f, representing the location of interface varies steeply in the interface region, we need to use smoothed function f to get accurate unit normal and the curvature. Peskin kernel is used to get smoothed function f. A spherical drop in static equilibrium and three-dimensional merging of gas bubble are tested, resulting in the validation of this method

Sapphire fiber has been used to provide an optical path for the total radiation pyrometry. In measuring the temperature, we use the two-color detector, which consists of a high-performance Silicon detector mounted in a "sandwich" configuration over a Germanium detector. Sapphire fiber can withstand high temperature in the molten steel for two and a half hours. The maximum value of the error is the $\pm$2.5$^{\circ}C$ in the range of 152$0^{\circ}C$~1$600^{\circ}C$. This paper presents the simple scheme for measuring the molten steel temperature in the blast furnace of the iron ＆ steel making process.g process.

Active shape model is widely used in the field of image processing especially on arbitrary meaningful shape extraction from single gray level image. Cootes et. al. showed efficient detection of variable shape from image by using covariance and mean shape from learning. There are two stages of learning and testing. Hahn applied enhanced shape alignment method rather than using Cootes's rotation and scale scheme. Hahn did not modified the profile itself. In this paper, the method using directional one dimensional profile is proposed to enhance Cootes's one dimensional profile and the shape alignment algorithm of Hahn is combined. The performance of the proposed method was superior to Cootes's and Hahn's. Average landmark estimation error for each image was 27.72 pixels and 39.46 for Cootes's and 33.73 for Hahn's each.
