The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality and color preference, thereby to suggest a personality profile on the basis of colors selected for children's preference. Materias used to determine the degree of color preference were 24 color papers which were developed and described in a previous research by Lee & Lee. The Instrument used ot determine children's personality was Burks' Behavior Rating Scales-Preschool and Kindergarten Edition. Subjects wee 70 3-, 4- and 5- year old children attending the Y Child Development research institute. Data were analyzed with SPSS using mainly F-test and Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Results showed that among 24 colors used, white, violet, sapphire, sky blue, blue, green yellow, pink, green, red, gold, purple, van dyke brown, blue, green, silver were found to be significantly related to persionality. Judging from this results, white and violet seemed to be most predictive colors to personality. Personality aspects significantly related to specific colors were discussed and a profile of personality based on color preference were developed.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of interior color and product volume of clothing shop on consumer's store image and preference for a clothing shop. The research methodology was a survey questionnaire and the subjects were 516 university students in Daejeon, Korea. The measuring instruments were stimuli and self-administrated questionnaire. The stimuli were 7 pictures of clothing shop including interior color and product volume variables, and the self-administrated questionnaire consisted of semantic differential scales for store image, store preference, and subject's demographic attribution. The data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, MANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, based on SPSS program The results were as follows: first, in clothing shop's interior colors affecting store image and preference for clothing shop, white color gave a casual, sophisticated, characteristic, and attractive image to the shops, and brown color gave an elegant, sophisticated image, while black color gave a sophisticated, uncomfortable image, and gray color gave a less positive image to them than other colors. Subjects preferred white, brown, and black color in the order. Second, clothing shop's products volume also affected consumers' store image and preference. Its small volume gave a more sophisticated, elegant image than other volume levels, and subjects preferred small and medium volume of clothing products to their large volume. Third, the effects of shop's interior color and clothes' product volume on store image were different depending on subject's sex. The results revealed that clothing shop's interior color and product volume are important VMD components affecting consumer's store image and preference, and consumer's sex has to be considered to understand the effects of VMD components on clothing shop image.
Depending on the launch of the emotional generation, many researches developing the automobile preference color which reflects the preference color of the consumers are advanced. This study investigate preferred colors and emotional image of the car color reflecting the product design and consuming psychology. According to surveyed ages and gender, there are eight categories (women/20 's, 30 "s, 40 's, and 50 's and men/20 's, 30 "s, 40 's, and 50 's) based on the 30 persons. Preferred color is black, white, sky blue, purple, pink, and orange order. If black, white and gray are excluded, remained in the order of blue, yellow, and purple. There are big deferences on preference color when emotional preference color of cars is showed or not. Practically, the preference color is following in sensitivity. However the car image is recognized actually with conservativeness, they hesitates selection of the bright chromatic color car.

The purpose of this study is to determine color preferences in housing spaces according to different types of personalities and color preference according to classifying dwellers various characteristics by MBTI to obtain basic information for the color plan that satisfies their desires. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, in terms of the color distribution of living spaces, for the ceiling and general walls, results showed that N (white) systems and YR of bright tones were mostly distributed. For the color of the floor, results showed that the calm tone of YR was mostly distributed. Secondly, for the favored colors of finishing materials in each space, the greatest distribution of preference color was found to be the N (white) group (series) in the case of ceilings, For general walls, the bright tone of the N (white) group was the most common in living rooms, and the bright tone of RP was used mostly in couples' rooms and girls' rooms. The bright tone of B and PB were found mostly in boys' bedrooms. In the case of the floor color, results showed the largest distribution was the calm tone of YR. For point walls, the preference was for various kinds of bright and brilliant colors. Thirdly, we could determine that extroverts (E) strongly disliked black and grey, while introverts (I) strongly disliked red as well as black and grey. Those who favored colors of closing materials were the sensible types (S) where colors were concentrated in common color groups. On the other hand, intuition types (N) preferred color groups of various kinds, not only the typically preferred colors.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the tendency of color preference for the elderly in housing. For this, a questionnaire survey was carried out with color chips and 9 photos of the living rooms which were chosen among apartment model houses in Pusan. Preference of color usage was measured by SD scale developed by advertising adjectives for the model houses. The result of this study are as follows: 1) The preferred color image was characterized as soft, warm and simple. The main factors of color image were identified and named as 'dignity factor' and 'personality factor'. 2) The elderly preferred G generally, but R for dominant color of the living room. They distinguished their attitudes about the color by the purpose of color usage. 3) For colors of architectural components of the living room, preferred colors were narrowed Y, YR and R for wall, art wall and floor. Beige was the most popular color in the living room for the elderly. This research can contribute to the basic data of color planning for the elderly housing.
The methods used in this study included investigation of media facades used for landmarks in downtown areas in previous studies, visits to these areas, and recording of media facades. The changes in the colors or the size of buildings were analyzed among the recorded cases and 12 of these cases were selected for further study. The sensibility preference of the media facades was evaluated by sorting the 12 kinds of media facades, and providing them as materials to a group of 60 participants (40 undergraduate and 20 graduate students majoring in architecture and design) consisting of an equal proportion of males and females. This study addressed the following four_stage questions: 1) Five questions of recognition evaluation about media facades and the cognitive evaluation items of emotional vocabulary and color preference in each research case; 2) sensibility preference items regarding the media facade color design; and 3) design evaluation items of the media facades; 4) Video clips and still images were recorded from a middle distance at 7p.m to 11p.m. in central New York, Singapore, Seoul, and Beijing. The participants looked at the changes in colors through the video clips in each case and evaluated their preferences through 23 pairs of emotional vocabulary items using system dynamics. Construction of an emotional vocabulary followed, based on previous studies about media facades and color design. To evaluate the sensibility preference and the perceived representative colors of the media facade, this study suggests new emotional responses that depended on the color emotional vocabulary of light in the LED lighting technical evaluation methodology. A media facade with a moving change of colors, unlike a fixed landscape color design, suggests a new communication method based on architectural factors. New architectural color coordination can be presented for urban landscapes at night. Designs that factor in the pedestrians' emotional vocabulary or preference should take precedence over the use of high luminance and various colors.

These questionaire were administerd to 576 middle and high school girls in Chungbuk Province. As statistical analysis, chi-square, F-test and correlation were used. The result were; 1. The order of prefered colors were white, yellow and green, and the order of repugnated colors were gray, red and red purple. 2. Personality traits was no signifcant related to color perference and repugnance. 3. Color perference was positively related to age, residential area and type of school. Color repugnance was positively related to age, residential area, type of school and educational background of mother. 4. Yellow red, yellow and white T-shirt were prefered in spring and autumn, white and blue T-shirt were prefered in summer, and black, gray and red T-shirt were prefered in winter. White and blue slacks were prefered in spring, summer and autumn seasons, and black, gray and blue slacks were prefered in winter. 5. There was a positive relationship between color perference and T-shirt color, but was no positive relationship between color perference and slacks color.
Color is one of the most important attributes determining the purchase of food products by consumers. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify consumer color preferences for songpyun, a traditional Korean rice cake, by a consumer acceptance test and using coated Pantone color chips. Color evaluation tools for the study were developed accordingly. From the results, the songpyun sample designated as product E was given the highest color acceptability score, and was 'slightly liked' (p<0.05). The color of product E was 'very pale red-purple'. All the evaluated pink-color songpyun products were based on this red-purple hue, however, they had differences in tone. The consumer panel favored a pale tone over a bright tone. The color concept for traditional songpyun within the pink color category was identified as 'very pale red-purple', using coated Pantone color chips. This result for the conceptual color preference was consistent with that of the consumer color acceptance test. Thus, color chips could be an effective tool when applied for color standardization in traditional foods production. From the overall results, it seems consumers are perceiving color trends and are willing to adapt to such changes in food applications.
This study consists of the stimuli of a female model in her twenties with twenty-three different facial make-up and survey on the differences of them for the development of make-up color system, based on the color-sense on the Korean's skin-tone and make-up color, to enforce the efficiency of beauty education. The result of this study and the suggestion is as followed. Firstly, Familiarity, Intelligence, Fitness, Charm, Tradition and Youth were came out as the result of factor analysis of make-up color image perception. Secondly, the stimulus of bare face was evaluated as more familiar and intelligent than the one with image make-up but perceived as unhealthy and not untraditional. Thirdly, skin tone had a big impact on both in lip color that's been applied in monotonous make-up and in image make-up that had been applied in contrastive make-up. Through these results, it is confirmed that the skin tone and make-up colors were influential variables in the research on facial image perception and preference against a female model in her 20s, and also the image test and preference can be changed according to the color contrasts. This research will be used as a basic tool for the development of make-up color applying system with image perception of statics of population variables and preference research. Also it aims to suggest the alternatives to perform the present collage make-up education for more systematic and organized education.
