Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging (LITI) is a laser addressed patterning process and has unique advantages, such as high-resolution patterning with over-all position accuracy of the imaged stripes within 2.5 micrometer and scalability to large-size mother glass. This accuracy is accomplished using real-time error correction and a high -resolution stage control system that includes laser interferometers. Here the new concept of mixed hybrid system which complement the advantages of small molecular and polymeric materials for use as an OLED; our system can realize the easy processing of polymers and high luminance efficiency of recently developed small molecules. LITI process enables to pattern the stripes with excellent thickness uniformity and multi-stacking of various functional layers without using any type of fine metal shadow mask. In this study, we report a full-color hybrid OLED using the multi-layered structure of small molecular/polymeric species.

Hemangioma is the most common benign tumor of a vascular origin, and is characterized by the abnormal proliferation of blood vessels. Intramuscular hemangioma (IMH) usually involves the skeletal muscles of the trunk or limbs, but rarely occurs in the head and neck region. This case report presents a patient with IMH showing multiple phleboliths in the buccal cheek. A 13-year-old boy was referred for the evaluation and management of painful swelling of the left cheek that had gradually increased in size over a 6 year duration. The examination revealed a palpable firm mass. Reddish-blue buccal mucosa color was observed with an aciniform shape. Preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a vascular tumor in the left side adjacent to the buccinator and depressor orbicularis oris muscles. Surgical resection under general anesthesia was performed via the intraoral approach. The mass and phleboliths were extracted successfully. A histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of IMH. In conclusion, clinicians should be aware of the possibility of IMH in cases of a palpable mass with multiple nodules deep within the muscle in the buccal cheek. Among the several diagnostic tools, MRI provides essential information on the extent and surrounding anatomy of IMH.
Anatomical comparison of 8 North American species of Abies was executed to provide taxonomic information. The species of eastern (balsam and Fraser fir) and western (Pacific silver, white, grand, subalpine, California red, and noble fir) were found to be separated on the basis of crystals and color of contents in ray parenchyma cells and ray height. In eastern species, crystals in ray parenchyma cells were absent and ray parenchyma cell contents were colorless to very light. These two eastern species were further characterized by the absence of uniseriate rays exceeding 25 cells in height. In western species, only subalpine fir had colorless to very light contents but the remaining five species have dark contents in ray parenchyma cells. Crystals were absent to extremely sparse in Pacific silver fir, somewhat frequent in noble fir, frequent in grand and California red fir, and very frequent in white fir. Uniseriate rays exceeding 25 cells in height were regularly found in grand and California red fir but absent in white and noble fir.
Ventricular septal defects (VSDs) is an opening in the ventricular septum that allows blood to flow between the ventricles. Most ventricular septal defects are located in the upper ventricular septum and can be identified by auscultation. In this report, 2 dogs with heart murmur were diagnosed as VSD using radiography and echocardiography. In radiographs, bulging sign of the main pulmonary artery or the enlargement of the left ventricle was observed. The color Doppler examination showed the left-to-right shunting of blood via interventricular septal defect.
Copper composite materials have attracted wide attention for energy applications. Especially $CuInS_2$ has a desirable direct band gap of 1.5 eV, which is well matched with the solar spectrum. $CuInS_2$ nanoparticles could make it possible to develop color-tunable $CuInS_2$ nanoparticle emitter in the near-infrared region (NIR) for energy application and bio imaging sensors. In this paper, $CuInS_2$ nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by thermo-decomposition methods. Surface modification of $CuInS_2$ nanoparticles were carried out with various semiconductor materials (CdS, ZnS) for enhanced optical properties. Surface modification and silica coating of hydrophobic nanoparticles could be dispersed in polar solvent for potential applications. Their optical properties were characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). The structures of silica coated $CuInS_2$ were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
The objective of this study is to evaluate the applicability of Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) vegetation indices on a quantitative analysis. For evaluation, the vegetation indices such as RVI, NDVI and SAVI were extracted by using COMS GOCI and Terra Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) imageries. The 4,000 points using simple random sampling (SRS) method were randomly extracted from land areas except ocean to compare the vegetation indices from two images. The results of linear regression showed that the regression coefficients of RVI, NDVI, and SAVI between COMS GOCI and Terra MODIS were 0.66~0.82, 0.71~0.83, and 0.71~0.83, respectively. Especially, the regression coefficients of RVI (r=0.85), NDVI (r=0.91) and SAVI (r=0.91) were strongly related from September 2011 to January 2012. Thus, COMS GOCI can be substituted for particular periods and it needs to verify additionally.

We compiled near-infrared photometric and polarimetric catalog of sources in ~3 $9^{\prime}{\times}69^{\prime}$ size field in the eastern side of the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). This catalog lists all 1969 sources which are brighter than 14 mag and which signal to noise ratio of degree of polarization is greater than 3 in the J, H, and Ks bands. The photometric and polarimetric data were simultaneously obtained in J, H, and Ks bands using SIRPOL, an imaging polarimeter of the InfraRed Survey Facility (IRSF), in 2008 December and 2011 December. We classified the objects into several groups based on their locations on the color-magnitude diagram and compared their general properties of polarization. We measured wavelength dependence of this field to verify interstellar polarization of the LMC which occurred from the dichroic extinction. We also discuss the polarization structure in this field with the results from molecular cloud studies.

We carry out the first survey for globular clusters (GCs) of three galaxies in cosmic voids using Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Advanced Camera for Survey archival F606W and F814W images. While all sample galaxies are classified as early-type galaxies based on ground-based imaging, the high resolution HST images reveal that they are actually spiral galaxies. We identify the point sources with red colors typical for GCs as GC candidates in the color-magnitude diagrams. As a result, we find a significant number of GC candidates. The spatial and radial distribution of GCs show central concentration on each galaxy region. Their mean colors are similar to that of the Milky Way and M31 GCs. The void GCs are somewhat bluer by, and than cluster and field GCs in early-type galaxies with similar luminosity to our samples, but the discrepancy is not significant. We also estimate the specific frequencies of GCs in these galaxies and the values are consistent with those in field and cluster galaxies with similar luminosity. From these results, we suggest that the formation process of void GCs is similar to that of GCs in other environments. The further implications will be discussed.
The international cooperation project CIBER (Cosmic Infrared Background ExpeRiment) is a rocket-borne instrument, of which the scientific goal is to measure the cosmic near-infrared extra-galactic background to search for signatures of primordial galaxy formation. CIBER consists of a wide-field two-color camera, a low-resolution absolute spectrometer, and a high-resolution narrow-band imaging spectrometer. Currently, all the subsystems have been built, and the integration, testing, and calibration of the CIBER system are on process for the scheduled launch in June 2008.

A polymeric host for triplet emitters composed of N-alkylcarbazole and tetramethylbenzene units was successfully synthesized. Efficient energy transfer was observed between this polymeric host and green phosphorescent dyes. The device fabricated using 5 wt% green 1 in the polymeric host as the emitting layer showed the best performance. Thin films of this host-guest system, exhibiting clear stripe patterns could be prepared through the LITI process. The patterned films were then used to fabricate electrophosphorescent devices, which show performance characteristics similar to those of spin-coated devices. The new host material is a good candidate to be used in polymer-based full-color electrophosphorescent light-emitting displays.
