This paper deals with an assembly process of the TFT glasses and the color filters in LCD manufacturing. Two specific problems are presented and solved. One is a matching problem to find the best matches between a set of TFT glasses and a set of color filters, which result in the maximum number of good LCD assemblies. A simple mathematical model is constructed for this problem and an optimal solution can be obtained using an existing algorithm. The other is a main problem that requires a determination of an economic lot size of the color filters which are going to be assembled with a given set of TFT glasses. A Bayesian dynamic forecasting model is developed to predict the defective patterns of color filters. Based on the predicted defective rate of color filters, the minimum lot size of the color filters can be determined to minimize the probability of losing good TFT glasses and color filters.

Various studies with regard to increasing the optical efficiency of plasmonic color filters have previously been conducted, such as mixing materials or applying diverse pattern shapes. Fundamentally, it is important to maximize the photonic crystal effect by finding the optimum periods of lattice as well as calculating the most efficient transmission area. In this study, we propose a technical method for optimizing the plasmonic color filters that have a high color gamut and luminance by analyzing the light spectrums based on the 1931 color coordinate system. Moreover, we suggest a calculation method in order to define the individual color purity of red and green and blue filters. Consequently, efficiency values are obtained independently from each color filter by evaluating the color purity and the luminance. The final result obtained from simulation are 27.6% of relative luminance and 25.3% of color gamut. The proposed optimization method is applicable to all plasmonic color filters having photonic crystal arrays.

Infrared (IR) filters were developed to implement integrated three-dimensional (3D) image sensors that are capable of obtaining both color image and depth information at the same time. The combination of light filters applicable to the 3D image sensor is composed of a modified IR cut filter mounted on the objective lens module and on-chip filters such as IR pass filters and color filters. The IR cut filters were fabricated by inorganic $SiO_2/TiO_2$ multilayered thin-film deposition using RF magnetron sputtering. On-chip IR pass filters were synthetized by dissolving various pigments and dyes in organic solvents and by subsequent patterning with photolithography. The fabrication process of the filters is fairly compatible with the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. Thus, the IR cut filter and IR pass filter combined with conventional color filters are considered successfully applicable to 3D image sensors.

The object color does not look same under the different light source. It depends on the surface spectral reflectance and the spectral distribution of light source. Therefore we should find the surface spectral reflectance of object color and the spectral distribution of light source for color reproduction. Using Winer estimation, we can reconstruct the spectral reflectance from low dimensional images obtained with a few filters. The kind and the number of filters have the effect on the estimation of the spectral reflectance. Therefore it is important that optimal filters are selected to minimize the error of the result. In this paper, we describe methods to select optimal filters with minimum error between measured and estimated surface spectral reflectance and to estimate surface spectral reflectance of Munsell color from six band images by using Wiener estimation.
Terretial LiDAR surveying is highly useful for maintenance of civil facilities as it can easily detect the temporal deformation of structures or topography. However, for river facilities such as levess, it is difficult to detect the deformation of the topography or structure under vegetations due to the influence of vegetation. Vegetation filters can be divided into color filters and morphological filters. In this study, combined filters with color and morphology are developed to improve the accuracy of vegetation filters. 8 color filters, 6 morphological filters, and 4 combined filters are applied to the vegetation removal on the embankment slope, and their accuracy and calculation time are compared. Color filters show a short calculation time, but the accuracy was low in the vegetation area. Morphological filters show high accuracy in the vegetation area, but low accuracy in places with severe local topographical changes such as heavy rocks. Combined filters also show a tendency similar to morphological filters, but in the case of ExGGM, the accuracy is excellent in both the vegetation and rock area. Considering the accuracy and calculation time, the combined filter ExGGM is suitable for general cases, and the shape filter GrMIn or the complex filter ExGISL is suitable for cases where the local topographical change is not severe.
A direct-lit liquid crystal display that does not use color filters is proposed. A backlight unit that employs compartmentalized RGB LED and lenticular-lens arrays is used instead of color filters to direct the RGB LED lights into the RGB subpixels. The color-filterless LED backlight design, simulation, and experiment results are presented.

We report a switchable RGB color filters for Lab on a chip. Ink color filter devices are fabricated by PDMS patterning process. The optical transmission in the ultra-violet and visible wavelengths of color filters have been investigated. The ink color filters are characterised by the slope and shape of the spectrum. The transmission of red/yellow filter consists of curves with a sharp cut-off spectrum at 600 and 500 nm. The blue output of the ink filter has 80% peak transmission and weak red-leak, while the green ink filter has 48% peak transmission and red-leak.

Color images are often corrupted by the noise due to noisy sensors or channel transmission errors. Some filters such as vector media and vector $\alpha$-trimmed mean filter have bee used for color noise removal. In this paper, We propose the fuzzy cluster filters based on the possibilistic c-means clustering, because the possibilistic c-means clustering can get robust memberships in noisy environments. Also, we propose weighted vector $\alpha$-trimmed mean filter to improve the conventional vector $\alpha$-trimmed mean filter. In this filter, the central data are more weighted than the outlying data. In this paper, we implemented the color noise generator to evaluate the performance of the proposed filters in the color noise environments. The NCD measure and visual measure by human observer are used for evaluation the performance of the proposed filters. In the experiment, proposed fuzzy cluster filters in the sense of NCD measure gave the best performance over conventional filters in the mixed noise. Simulation results showed that proposed weighted vector $\alpha$-trimmed mean filters better than the conventional vector $\alpha$-trimmed mean filter in any kinds of noise.
