We study the collective behaviors of two second-order nonlinear consensus models with a bonding force, namely the Kuramoto model and the Cucker-Smale model with inter-particle bonding force. The proposed models contain feedback control terms which induce collision avoidance and emergent consensus dynamics in a suitable framework. Through the cooperative interplays between feedback controls, initial state configuration tends to an ordered configuration asymptotically under suitable frameworks which are formulated in terms of system parameters and initial configurations. For a two-particle system on the real line, we show that the relative state tends to the preassigned value asymptotically, and we also provide several numerical examples to analyze the possible nonlinear dynamics of the proposed models, and compare them with analytical results.

The wireless transmission medium inherently broadcasts a signal to all neighbor nodes in the transmission range. Existing asynchronous MAC protocols do not provide a concrete solution for reliable broadcast in link layer. This mainly comes from that an omnidirectional broadcasting causes to reduce the network performance due to the explosive collisions and contentions. This paper proposes a directional broadcast protocol by using neighborhood information in the link layer based o,1 directional antennas, named MNDB (MAC protocol with Neighborhood for reliable Directional Broadcast). This protocol makes use of neighborhood information and DMACA (Directional Multiple Access and Collision Avoidance) scheme through 4-way handshake to support a reliable directional broadcast. To analyze its performance, MNDB protocol si compared with $RMDB^{[1]}$, the protocol 2 of reference [3], and IEEE 802.11 $protocol^{[9]}$, in terms of the number of collisions, the number of dropped packets, the number of redundant packets, and broadcast delay.
Multihop is the main communication style for wireless sensor networks composed of tiny sensor nodes. Until now, most applications have treated the periodic small sized sensing data. Recently, the burst traffic with the transient and continuous nature is increasingly introduced due to the advent of wireless multimedia sensor networks. Therefore, the efficient communication protocol to support this trend is required. In this paper, we propose a novel PIGAB(Packet Interval Gap based on Adaptive Backoff) protocol to efficiently transmit the burst data in multihop wireless sensor networks. The contention-based PIGAB protocol consists of the PIG(Packet Interval Gap) control algorithm in the source node and the MF(MAC-level Forwarding) algorithm in the relay node. The PIGAB is on basis of the newly proposed AB(Adaptive Backoff), CAB(Collision Avoidance Backoff), and UB(Uniform Backoff). These innovative algorithms and schemes can achieve the performance of network by adjusting the gap of every packet interval, recognizing the packet transmission of the hidden node. Through the simulations and experiments, we identify that the proposed PIGAB protocol considerably has the stable throughput and low latency in transmitting the burst data in multihop wireless sensor networks.

In this paper, we consider a WDM based metro ring connecting broadband access networks by using FT-TR (Fixed Transmitter-Tunable Receiver) type access nodes and a new MAC protocol for fair transmission is proposed. The basic channel access scheme is CSMA/CA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance) and the transferred optical slot is changed to be empty slot by SS(Source-Stripping) which drops a packet from ring-rotated slot. This empty slot can be either used to send head-of-line packet in buffer or transmitted to next access node. In former cases, there is the improvement of network throughput, but latter case leads unfairness problem of transmission. Thus the proposed MAC protocol exploits the advantages form tow cases. It gives downstream access nodes chance to use empty slots and limits the unconditional usage of empty slots at upstream access nodes with probability as called p-Persistent MAC protocol. We use a numerical analysis to evaluate bandwidth efficiency and maximum node throughput and compares simulation results in terms of node throughput, fairness factor, transfer delay depending on probability. Under two different FT-TR type architectures for metro ring network the proposed MAC protocol is evaluated and compared.

In this paper, we propose Low Energy Service Discovery (LESD) protocol for common discovery mode of IEEE 802.15.8 Peer Aware Communications (PAC). In order to minimize power consumption, Basic Repetition Block (BRB) is defined. Device is able to select operating mode and synchronize other devices through it. Proposed MAC procedure is Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) based on overhearing technique. Even if device has not been received response signal since transmitted request signal, it is able to discover other devices of same group through the overhearing technique. IEEE 802.15.8 PAC has required that performances of common discovery mode are presented about discovered devices during the simulation time, discovery latency and average power consumption. By considering the number of devices per group and channel environment, two scenarios are evaluated through system level simulation and the simulation results of proposed scheme are compared with CSMA/CA in same simulation conditions. As a result, proposed scheme is able to get high energy efficiency of devices as well as increase the number of discovered devices during simulation time when the longer the number of devices is distributed over a limited area.

In this paper, we will introduce the system that can control multiple vehicles on the road through Single Board Computers and V2I (Vehicle-To-Infrastructure). Also, we will propose the group evasive maneuver decision algorithm, which plays a critical role in deciding whether the vehicles in the system have to conduct evasive maneuvers to avoid obstacles on the road. In order to test this system, we have utilized Wi-Fi and TCP/IP for establishing the communication between multiple vehicles and the relay server, and observed their driving states on the road with obstacles. During the experiments, we have discovered that our original decision algorithm possesses high failure rate when there is frequency interference in ISM (Industrial Scientific Medical) band. In order to reduce this failure rate, we have implemented the data transition detector. This paper will focus on how the use of data transition detector can affect the reliability of the system under the frequency interference of ISM band. If this technology is improved and applied in the field, we will effectively deal with such dangerous situations as multiple collision accidents through vehicle-to-vehicle communication or vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. Furthermore, this can be applied to the autonomous driving technologies. This can be used as the reference data for the development of the similar system.

In this paper, the optimum antenna placement is analyzed by considering the interference between airborne antennas mounted on the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV). The analysis is implemented by selecting the antennas that the distance and operational frequency band between airborne antennas is close to each other among the omni-directional antennas. The analyzed antennas are the control datalink, TCAS(Traffic Collision & Avoidance System), IFF(Identification Friend or Foe), GPS(Global Positioning System), and RALT(Radar ALTimeter) antennas. There are three steps for the optimum antenna placement analysis. The first step is selecting the antenna position having the optimum properties by monitoring the variation of radiation pattern and return loss by the fuselage of UAV after selecting the initial antenna position considering the antenna use, type, and radiation pattern. The second one is analyzing the interference strength between airborne antennas considering the coupling between airborne antennas, spurious of transmitting antenna, and minimum receiving level of receiving antenna. In case of generating the interference, the antenna position without interference is selected by analyzing the minimum separation distance without interference. The last one is confirming the measure to reject the frequency interference by the frequency separation analysis between airborne antennas in case that the intereference is not rejected by the additional distance separation between airborne antennas. This analysis procedure can be efficiently used to select the optimum antenna placement without interference by predicting the interference between airborne antennas in the development stage.

The remote control mobile robot is the robot accomplishing a task according to the orders giving by a user through departed communication system using a joystick. Basically, to supply a lot of information, as this type of robot uses visual information, the user can check the transmitted information by eyes and give orders to the robot. But the weak point of this type of robot is that it has a possibility to come into a collision with an obstacle not be seen to the user because of the communication delay occurring in a communication system and dead zone happening in visual information. To solve the problem, in this paper, we try to suggest a system applying a fuzzy control system to the robot to avoid collision with an obstacle by an immediate order of the user. The fuzzy control system has better performance than any other existing control methods in the change of noise and parameter. And it is more efficient than any other since it solves easy the complexity of the system analysis occurring because of the nonlinear feature of the mobile robot system. In this paper, we made experiments how the mobile robot controlled by the fuzzy control system avoids an obstacle, tracks the path and avoids the obstacle in the path, to prove the performance and to check the evaluation and the application possibility of the fuzzy control system.

This paper introduces a test bed for communication protocol schemes of underwater acoustic sensor network, and also shows experimental results obtained from the test bed. As a testing protocol, carrier sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) is evaluated on underwater acoustic channel. A sensor node is equipped with a DSP control board of ATmega2560 and a commercial underwater modem produced by Benthos. The control board not only manipulates a GPS signal to acquire the information of location and time, but also controls the underwater modem to operate according to the procedure designed for a given testing protocol. Whenever any event takes place such as exchanging control/data packets between underwater modems and acquiring location and timing information, each sensor node reports them through radio frequency (RF) air interface to a central station located on the ground. The four kinds of packets for CSMA/CA, RTS(Request To Send), CTS(Clear to Send), DATA, ACK(Acknowledgement) are designed according to the underwater communication environment and are analyzed through the lake experiment from the point of feasibility of CSMA/CA in underwater acoustic communications.
