  • In search for a method of evaluating the cardiopulmonary function. 74 male and 33 female volunteers ages $18{\sim}25$ were subjected to this study The subjects walked on a treadmill at speed of 2,4,6 and 8km/hr with 0,5,10,15,20 and 25% grade of inclination, respectively, for a measurement of heart rate and oxygen-pulse. Heart rate was measured every 5 seconds at resting state and during walking by telemetric method using Heart Checker 108 System (Senoh Co., Japan). Oxygen concentration was measured by Douglas bag method collecting expired air for 5 minutes at rest, and for 2 minutes at the end of each walking exercise. Oxygen concentration in an expired air was analyzed with Orzat gas analyser and expressed in terms of STPD. Oxygen-pulse was defined as an amount of oxygen consumed at every heart at a cellular level. The followings were the results obtained from this study. 1. Mean values of oxygen-pulse at resting state was $3.1{\pm}0.11ml/beat$ in male and $2.5{\pm}0.87ml/beat$ in female, respectively. 2. Mean values of oxygen-pulse during treadmill walking were increased in proportion with the load of exercise, namely, the speed and grade of inclination, from minimum of 7.1ml/beat upto maximum of 18.2ml/beat in male and from minimum of 4.2ml/beat upto maximum of 12,7ml/beat in female. 3. Both linear and logarithmic regressional relationships between oxygen-pulse and speed of walking and grade of inclination were observed in both sexes. Predicted values of oxygen-pulse by logarithmic regressional formula on speed and on grade of inclination were better coincided with the measured values than those predicted by the linear regressional formula.

  • Laboratory scale model was constructed for open-cut riverbed infiltration experiment and four kinds of media were selected, medium sand, sand, volcanic rock, and gravel, for the experiment. Hydraulic conductivity for each medium and flow rate from the collecting pipe with functional screen were estimated from the experiment. Modified hydraulic conductivity scenarios considering turbid water (30~50 NTU) were applied in Visual MODFLOW modeling to analyze the effects of turbid water on the flow rate. Twenty-two scenarios were generated considering prticles in turbid water and applied to each medium cases in MODFLOW modeling. The minimum error was occurred when the gravel medium had 20% less hydraulic conductivities for the third layer-depth from the top and clay particles in turbid water might play a role in adsorption process to the surface of volcanic rock (2~5 mm). For medium sand case the error was also quite small when the mediumhas 5% less hydraulic conductivities for the second layer-depth from the top.

  • In recent times, development of nanofluid insulation for power transformers is a hot research topic. Many researchers reported the enhancement in dielectric characteristics of nano modified mineral oils. Considering the drawbacks of petroleum based mineral oil, it is necessary to understand the dielectric characteristics of nanofluids developed with natural ester based oils. Palm oil has better insulation characteristics comparable to mineral oil. However very few research reports is available in the area of nanofluids based on palm oil. Partial discharge (PD) is one of the major sources of insulation performance degradation of transformer oil. It is essential to understand the partial discharge(PD) characteristics by collecting huge data base of PD performance of nano modified palm oil which will increase its confidence level for power transformer application. Knowing these facts, in the present work, certain laboratory experiments have been performed on PD characteristics of nano $SiO_2$ modified palm oil at different electrode configurations. Influence of concentration of nano filler material on the PD characteristics is also studied. Partial discharge inception voltage, Phase resolved partial discharge (PRPD) pattern, PD signal time-frequency domain characteristics, PD signal equivalent timelength-bandwidth mapping, Weibull distribution statistical parameters of PRPD pattern, skewness, repetition rate and phase angle variations are evaluated at different test conditions. From the results of the experiments conducted, we came to understand that PD performance of palm oil is considerably enhanced with the addition of $nano-SiO_2$ filler at 0.01%wt and 0.05%wt concentration. Significant reduction in PD inception voltage, repetition rate, Weibull shape parameter and PD magnitude are noticed with addition of $SiO_2$ nanofillers in palm oil. These results will be useful for recommending nano modified palm oil for power transformer applications.

  • The need for remanufacturing automotive parts is required due to the depletion of resources, rising raw material prices and strengthening environmental regulations. For remanufacturing, stable supply and demand of core must be accompanied. At present, remanufacturing companies collect cores through various routes, but the recovery rate of cores from the End-of-Life Vehicles is low. If we can systematically collect cores from hundreds of thousands of ELVs that were generated each year, the recovery rate of the core for remanufacturing will be further improved. Therefore, in this paper, we tried to establish a classification system for the ELV as a method for collecting the cores from the ELV. First, we selected the elements affecting the classification and determined the scope for the evaluation. The final rating classification is established by calculating the weights among the influence elements. Finally, through the case study, the dismantling grade of the actual ELV was evaluated to derive the second grade.

  • This paper assesses communication performance using a roaming simulator when roaming occurs between onboard and ground wireless communication devices for communication based train control system (CBTC). Generally, CBTC is defined as the system regularly collecting location and speed data from each train, transmitting distance information to a train, and optimizing train speed according to train performance. When a train is moving, roaming is also performed to continuously transmit and receive train control information between the ground controller and the train. To operate CBTC, packet loss rate should be less than 1%, roaming time less than 100ms during roaming. We developed a roaming simulator to check communication performance before installing ground and onboard equipments on actual wireless sections. The roaming simulator to be introduced in this paper is for roaming simulation before conducting CBTC field test, which is the project to develop Urban Rail Signaling System Standards, being conducted in KRRI. The simulation consists of one onboard wireless communication device and three ground wireless communication devices, and the roaming simulator estimate packet loss rate occurring during roaming process of the two devices. Therefore, if you use the roaming simulator before the field test, you can predict various problems to occur in actual environment and reduce time, cost and people necessary to resolve these problems.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of recombinant bovine somatotropin (bST; Boostin-S, LG Chem) treatment with FSH (Super OV) or PMSG on superovulatory response for transvaginal ultrasound-guided oocyte retrieval (TVR) in calves. Eight Korean Native Cattle(KNC) heifer calves; 150 to 240 days old; were randomly assigned to four treatment groups: 1) FSH(75 mg); 2) FSH (75 mg) + bST(500mg) 3) PMSG(1;000 IU); 4) PMSG(1, 000 IU) + bST(500 mg). Experimental calves in group 1 (n=2) and 2(n=2) were weekly superovulated for 4 consecutive weeks with daily injection of FSH for 3days and the next day subjected to TVR session. Animals in group 3 (n=2) and 4(n=2) were weekly stimulated for 4 consecutive weeks with a single dose of 1, 000 IU PMSG. TVR was performed on 72 hours after PMSG injection. Calves in group 2 and 4 was received injection of 500 mg of bST every 10 days. At each TVR session, follicle number and size were recorded; the oocytes collected and graded according to cumulus and cytoplasm investment. Collected oocyte were determined viable oocyte according to morphological quality with granulation of oocyte and number and status of cumlulus cells. IVM and IVF were performed and assessed cleavage rate on day 3 after fertilization. A Sonovet 600(Medison, Co., Ltd) realtime ultrasound scanner with a 6.5 MHz convex transducer, fixed at the tip of 500 mm estended handle equipped with a needle guide was used in collecting oocyte. Differences between groups were analysed by chi-square test. The population of large follicle ($\geq$5 nun) and aspiration rate were not significant different among the 4 groups. But, the number of small follicles (<5 mm) and aspirated oocyte in the KNC calves treated with bST were 1.3~1.6 times higher than in KNC calves treat with FSH or PMSG alone. In conclusion, the administration of bST with FSH or PMSG at superovulation for TVR in calves was increase the nurnber of small follicle which was influenced the number of aspiratable follicle.

  • As the Internet sites and users have rapidly been increased, the development for search engines has also been accelerated to satisfy users' expectations. As the result, not only the action of collecting documents through many search engines gave hosts workload, but also regular updating all the information is needed since information is newly added. With the circumstances, the necessity of the technology to collect massive information in hosts has been increased for the speed which is a basic requisite of search systems, and for more accurate collection of documents. Also, the role of search engines grows bigger for Internet users' various demands and flexible process through World Wide Web. In this paper, we design and implement a robot agent and a remote control system which doesn't give an excessive workload on a target server and makes the collection of documents done in a short period by considering an average workload rate on the target server and the rate of the workload that a robot experience in collection time, after we compare and analyze the existing Robot Agent Systems and supplement their weak points.

  • This paper suggests a new approach for providing information for driver safety at signalized intersections. Particularly dangerous situations at signalized intersections such as red-light violations, accelerating through yellow intervals, red-light running, and stopping abruptly due to the dilemma zone problem are considered in this study. This paper presents the development of a dangerous vehicle determination algorithm by collecting real-time vehicle speeds and times from multiple point detectors when the vehicles are traveling during phase-change. For an evaluation of this algorithm, VISSIM is used to perform a real-time multiple detection situation by changing the input data such as various inflow-volume, design speed change, driver perception, and response time. As a result the correct-classification rate is approximately 98.5% and the prediction rate of the algorithm is approximately 88.5%. This paper shows the sensitivity results by changing the input data. This result showed that the new approach can be used to improve safety for signalized intersections.
