  • Nowadays, the public as well as science educators pays much attention to the fourth industrial revolution and wonders what will happen to the societies in the future. Thus, this study aimed at predicting the education environment which will be brought from the fourth industrial revolution, and suggesting the solutions or tasks to be investigated in science education. Through the literature review, this study categorized the major changes of future society into a wild fluctuation of job market, the shift from possession-based economy to sharing economy, post-urbanized and distributed system, and the crisis of dehumanization. According to the four major changes, this study predicted the future environment that will occur to the educational system. First, the students should the competences necessary for the future and the school curriculum will be changed in terms of width and depth. Second, sharing economy may bring about the open platform similar to MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) or TED. Third, the manifestation of artificial intelligence in education will enable the individual and paced learning, and thanks to the change, the concept of distributed cognition will be more focused in education research. Fourth, the collaborative learning and character education should be more stressed to resist the dehumanization. This study suggests relevant tasks and issues that should be tackled for the successful change in primary and secondary schools.

  • Quality Assurance of Deep Mixing to fulfill the requirements of geotechnical design cannot be achieved only by the process control During production conducted by the deep mixing contractor but it should involve relevant activities that are carried out prior to, during and after the construction by all the parties involved in a deep mixing project. The requirement is different for different application, and hence, QA/QC method/procedure and verification technique may be different for different application. In order to maintain the high quality of deep mixing work in the global market, it is necessary to conduct a research project, such as investigation of illustrations, the variety of existing QA/QC methods/procedures, the correlation between the outcomes of different QA/QC methods. In these reason, it has been held the international meeting to discuss them, in that kind of activities in 2009 it will be held Symposium. Also Collaborative study for QA/QC is on goin, and conduction by all participated members. The subject for collaborative study are, task 1 : investigation of laboratory tests procedures, task 2 : comparing of different laboratory tests procedures, task 3 : QA/QC method/procedures, task 4 : integrated Task1 ~task 3. The discussion of the results in all task will be held in the Symposium separately. In this paper, it was presented four tasks. Also the results in task 1 and 2 conducting domestically until now, such as investigation of laboratory test procedures, effect on the unconfined compressive strength by aging temperature and by delayed time.

  • Students' engagement in lessons not only determines the direction and result of the lessons, but also affects academic achievement and continuity of follow-up learning. In order to provide implications related to teaching strategies for encouraging students' engagement in elementary mathematics lessons, this study implemented lessons for middle-low achieving fifth graders using open-ended tasks and analyzed characteristics of students' engagement in the light of the framework descripors developed based on previous research. As a result of the analysis, the students showed behavioral engagement in voluntarily answering teacher's questions or enduring difficulties and performing tasks until the end, emotional engagement in actively expressing their pleasure by clapping, standing up and the feelings with regard to the topics of lessons and the tasks, cognitive engagement in using real-life examples or their prior knowledge to solve the tasks, and social engagement in helping friends, telling their ideas to others and asking for friends' opinions to create collaborative ideas. This result suggested that lessons using open-ended tasks could encourage elementary students' engagement. In addition, this research presented the potential significance of teacher's support and positive feedback to students' responses, teaching methods of group activities and discussions, strategies of presenting tasks such as the board game while implementing the lessons using open-ended tasks.

  • Aims: This study aimed to analyze the tasks of Korean Medicine (KM) nurses. Methods: The definition and job description of KM nurses were developed through a "developing a curriculum" (DACUM) workshop. DACUM committee consisted of nine nurses from eleven Korean medicine hospitals, two DACUM facilitators and four DACUM coordinators. Twenty five nurses from nine Korean medicine hospitals validated job description established through the workshop. 235 KM nurses from 9 traditional Korean medicine hospitals participated in evaluating frequency, importance and difficulty of the duties and tasks. Questionnaires were sent to those nurses and 225 responses were included for final analysis due to missing data. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The jobs of a KM nurse were analyzed into 11 duties and 86 tasks on the DACUM chart. The 11 duties were KM nursing assessment, KM nursing intervention, fundamental nursing intervention, KM therapy management, support for KM therapy, KM nursing education, nursing administration, material management, environment management, professional development, and collaborative role between Korean medicine and Western medicine. Conclusion: We identified various roles of KM nurses and developed a DACUM chart based on their duties and tasks. Phased education programs for KM nurses should be developed by considering frequency, importance and difficulty. In addition, it is necessary to promote unique KM nursing interventions for expanding the roles of KM nurses in the future.
