  • Recommender system is a kind of web intelligence techniques to make a daily information filtering for people. Researchers have developed collaborative recommenders (social recommenders), content-based recommenders, and some hybrid systems. In this paper, we introduce a new hybrid recommender method - ICHM where clustering techniques have been applied to the item-based collaborative filtering framework. It provides a way to integrate the content information into the collaborative filtering, which contributes to not only reducing the sparsity of data set but also solving the cold start problem. Extensive experiments have been conducted on MovieLense data to analyze the characteristics of our technique. The results show that our approach contributes to the improvement of prediction quality of the item-based collaborative filtering, especially for the cold start problem.

  • Recommendation systems are a prominent approach for users to make informed automated judgments. In terms of movie recommendation systems, there are two methods used; Collaborative filtering, which is based on user similarities; and Content-based filtering which takes into account specific user's activity. However, there are still issues with these two existing methods, and to address those, a combination of collaborative and content-based filtering is employed to produce a more effective system. In addition, various similarity methodologies are used to identify parallels among users. This paper focuses on a survey of the various tactics and methods to find solutions based on the problems of the current recommendation system.

  • Automated collaborative filtering is on the verge of becoming a popular technique to reduce overloaded information as well as to solve the problems that content-based information filtering systems cannot handle. In this paper, we describe three different algorithms that perform collaborative filtering: GroupLens that is th traditional technique; Best N, the modified one; and an algorithm that uses clustering. Based on the exeprimental results using real data, the algorithm using clustering is compared with the existing representative collaborative filtering agent algorithms such as GroupLens and Best N. The experimental results indicate that the algorithms using clustering is similar to Best N and better than GroupLens for prediction accuracy. The results also demonstrate that the algorithm using clustering produces the best performance according to the standard deviation of error rate. This means that the algorithm using clustering gives the most stable and the best uniform recommendation. In addition, the algorithm using clustering reduces the time of recommendation.

  • Web 2.0 has features produced the content through the user of the participation and share. The content production activities have became active since social network service appear. The social bookmark, one of social network service, is service that lets users to store useful content and share bookmarked contents between personal users. Unlike Internet search engines such as Google and Naver, the content stored on social bookmark is searched based on tag keyword information and unnecessary information can be excluded. Social bookmark can make users access to selected content. However, quick access to content that users want is difficult job because of the user of the participation and share. Our paper suggests a method recommending search word to be able to access quickly to content. A method is suggested by using Collaborative Filtering and Jaccard similarity coefficient. The performance of suggested system is verified with experiments that compare by 'Delicious' and "Feeltering' with our system.

  • Even in a single day, an enormous amount of content including digital videos, posts, photographs, and wikis are generated on the web. It's getting more difficult to recommend to a user what he/she prefers among these contents because of the difficulty of automatically grasping of content's meanings. CF (Collaborative Filtering) is one of useful methods to recommend proper content to a user under these situations because the filtering process is only based on historical information about whether or not a target user has preferred an item before. Collaborative Tagging is the process that allows many users to annotate content with descriptive tags. Recommendation using tags can partially improve, such as the limitations of CF, the sparsity and cold-start problem. In this research, a CF method with user-created tags is proposed. Collaborative tagging is employed to grasp and filter users' preferences for items. Empirical demonstrations using real dataset from del.icio.us show that our algorithm obtains improved performance, compared with existing works.

  • In this paper, a new program recommendation system is proposed to recommend user preferred VOD program in IPTV environment. A proposed system is implemented with hybrid filtering method that can cooperatively complements the shortcomings of the content-based filtering and collaborative filtering. For a user program preference, a single-scaled measure is designed so that the recommendation performance between content-based filtering and collaborative filtering is easily compared and reflected to final hybrid filtering procedure. In order to provide more accurate program recommendation, we use not only the user watching history, but also the user program preference and sub-genre program preference updated every week as a user preference profile. System performance is evaluated with modified IPTV data from real 24-weeks cable TV watching data provided by Nilson Research Corp. and it shows quite comparative quality of recommendation.

  • Reputation systems aggregate users' feedback after the completion of a transaction and compute the "reputation" of products, services, or providers, which can assist other users in decision-making in the future. With the rapid growth of online e-Learning content providing services, a suitable reputation system for more credible e-Learning content delivery has become important and is essential if educational content providers are to remain competitive. Most existing reputation systems focus on generating ratings only for user reputation; they fail to consider the reputations of products or services(item reputation). However, it is essential for B2C e-Learning services to have a reliable reputation rating mechanism for items since they offer guidance for decision-making by presenting the ranks or ratings of e-Learning content items. To overcome this problem, we propose a novel collaborative filtering based reputation rating method. Collaborative filtering, one of the most successful recommendation methods, can be used to improve a reputation system. In this method, dual information sources are formed with groups of co-oriented users and expert users and to adapt it to the reputation rating mechanism. We have evaluated its performance experimentally by comparing various reputation systems.

  • With the advance of internet technology and fast growing of data volume, it become very hard to find a demanding information from the huge amount of data. Recommender system can solve the delema by helping a user to find required information. This paper proposes a reinforcement learning based hybrid recommendation system to predict user's preference. The hybrid recommendation system combines the content based filtering and collaborate filtering, and the system was tested using 2000 images. We used mean abstract error(MAE) to compare the performance of the collaborative filtering, the content based filtering, the naive hybrid filtering, and the reinforcement learning algorithm based hybrid filtering methods. The experiment result shows that the performance of the proposed hybrid filtering performance based on reinforcement learning is superior to other methods.

  • This study analyzes the trends of recommendation services for customized fashion styles in relation to artificial intelligence. To achieve this goal, the study examined filtering technologies of collaborative, content based, and deep-learning as well as analyzed the characteristics of recommendation services in the users' purchasing process. The results of this study showed that the most universal recommendation technology is collaborative filtering. Collaborative filtering was shown to allow intuitive searching of similar fashion styles in the cognition of need stage, and appeared to be useful in comparing prices but not suitable for innovative customers who pursue early trends. Second, content based filtering was shown to utilize body shape as a key personal profile item in order to reduce the possibility of failure when selecting sizes online, which has limits to being able to wear the product beforehand. Third, fashion style recommendations applied with deep-learning intervene with all user processes of buying products online that was also confirmed to penetrate into the creative area of image tag services, virtual reality services, clothes wearing fit evaluation services, and individually customized design services.

  • Collaborative filtering has been popular in commercial recommender systems, as it successfully implements social behavior of customers by suggesting items that might fit to the interests of a user. So far, most common method to find proper items for recommendation is by searching for similar users and consulting their ratings. This paper suggests a new similarity measure for movie recommendation that is based on genre interest, instead of differences between ratings made by two users as in previous similarity measures. From extensive experiments, the proposed measure is proved to perform significantly better than classic similarity measures in terms of both prediction and recommendation qualities.
