항공기 복합 재료의 비파괴 검사(NDI)를 위한 가변 창 필터를 이용한 초음파 영상 개선 (Enhancement of the Ultrasonic Image Using the Adaptive Window Log Filter for NDI of Aircraft Composite Materials)

  • In this paper, we propose an enhancement of the ultrasonic image for non-destructive inspection of aircraft composite materials. The ultrasonic images are corrupted by a speckle noise which has the characteristic of granular pattern noise and is in all types of coherent imaging systems, the signal independent and multiplicative noise. In this paper, we derive a filter, called the AWLF(Adaptive Window Log Filter), from the nature of the speckle. The filter is made of the MEAN Filter in the edge region and Log Filter in the flat or noise region. To make a distinction between edge and flat region, we calculate the inclination around the local window instead of computing the local statistics of pixels such as local mean ${\bar{M}}$ and standard deviation ${\sigma}_s$. According to the obtained region, edge region is performed by the mean filter and flat region by the Log filter. Performance of the proposed filter is evaluated by the Enhanced Factor$(F_e)$ and the Speckle Index(SI).

  • This paper has analyzed the performance against a single tone jamming for the CPM DS-SS system with a Binary FSK Modulation. The CPM DS-SS system designed with the different phase shift of the same pseude-noise code has the advantage of reducing the jamming and interference effects on multi-users communication environment. Analytical results show that the system preformance improves by increasing parrallel users in the presence of the coherent single-tone, which is the worst interference since the jamming signal has the same frequency as a carrier.

  • Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is a three-dimensional (3D) imaging technique that uses the phase information of coherent light. In the reconstruction process of DHM, a narrow region around the positive or negative sideband from the Fourier domain is windowed to avoid noise due to the DC spectrum of the hologram spectrum. However, the limited size of the window also degrades the high-frequency information of the 3D object profile. Although a large window can have more detailed information of the 3D object shape, the noise is increased. To solve this trade-off, we propose phase difference averaging (PDA). The proposed method yields high-frequency information of the specimen while reducing the DC noise. In this paper, we explain the reconstruction algorithm for this method and compare it to various conventional filtering methods including Gaussian, Wiener, average, median, and bilateral filtering methods.

광대역 신호 처리에서의 도래각 추정 : Rotation of Signal Subspaces 방법 (Direction-of-Arrival Estimation in Broadband Signal Processing : Rotation of Signal Subspace Approach)

  • 본 논문은 rotation of subspaces 개념을 이용한 도래각 추정 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 여러 응용분야에서 대두되는 부공간들(subspaces)의 각도 및 거리와 밀접한 관련이 있다. 먼저 최소 자승을 이용하여 한 부공간을 다른 부공간으로 변환 시켜주는 최적 변환 행렬을 구하기 위한 효율적인 방법을 유도하고 이를 이용하여 다중 광대역 신호들 (인코히어런트, 부분적인 코히어런트와 완전한 코히어런트의 혼합신호들)의 도래각을 추정한다. 대표적인 응용으로, 잡음의 배열 스펙트럼 밀도 행렬이 변하지 않는 액티브 시스템(e. g. sonar system) 경우에 성능을 높이기 위하여 효율적인 ROSS (rotation of signal subspaces) 알고리듬을 제안한다. ROSS 알고리듬은 Wang-Kaveh's CSS-focusing 방법에서 사용하는 예비처리와 공간 필터링을 필요로 하지 않는 장점이 있으며 일반적인 모든 배열 안테나에도 적용될 수 있다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 제안된 새로운 알고리듬이 CSS-focusing 방법 및 Forward-Backward Spatial Smoothed MUSIC 보다 높은 성능을 가짐을 알 수 있었다.

헤테로다인/코히어런트 광 BFSK 수신기의 성능평가 (Performance of Heterodyne/Coherent Optical BFSK Receiver)

  • 헤테로다인/코히어런트 광 BFSK 수신기의 시스템 모델을 제시하고 그 성능을 평가하였다. 수신기의 성능은 산탄잡음과 레이저 위상잡음에 의해 저하되므로 PLL 루프 고유주파수를 최적으로 선택하여 잡음의 영향을 최소화 하였다. 위상 에러의 의한 여러 값이 power penalty에 대해 $BER=10^{-9}$을 얻기위해 요구되는 위상 에러 분산, 비트당 광자수, 정규화 루프 파워, 그리고 전송비에 대한 레이저 선폭비를 얻었다. 예로써, 0.5dB의 power penalty에 대해 위상에러 분산은 0.035(${rad^2}$), 비트당 광자수는 20.2 정규화 루프 파워는 $3.8{\times}10^{-3}$(electron/s per herz), 전송비에 따른 허용 레이저 선폭비는 $5.24{\times}10^{-3}$이 얻어졌다.

  • The hutches which are installed in the beamline are largely classified into two, i.e XPP (X-ray pump probe) and CXI (Coherent X-ray image). Laser room is installed on the hutch and provides laser to XPP and CXI simultaneously. And two hutches have heavy crane to install some optics equipments. Safety and reliability of hutch structures should be taken into account for the precise operating of the laser facilities, so vibration analysis is essential to do this. The main purpose of vibration analysis is to install hutch structures with large stiffness. We have changed materials specification several times to install hutch structures having strong stiffness. Now hutch structures were installed and checked vibration status at laser room and XPP hutch. The results of laser table and robot arm satisfy vibration criteria. This paper explains about the design and vibration analysis of hutch structures.

Transmitted Reference UWB 시스템을 위한 비트오율 향상 기법 (Bit Error Rate Improvement Scheme for Transmitted Reference UWB Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 임펄스 라디오 기반의 TR-UWB (Transmitted Reference Ultra Wide Band) 시스템을 위해 효과적으로 비트오율 (Bit Error Rate; BER) 성능을 향상할 수 있는 송수신 방안을 제안한다. BER 성능은 우수하지만 매우 복잡하여 실제 구현하기에 용이하지 않은 Coherent UWB 시스템과는 달리, TR-UWB 시스템은 송신기에서 참조 신호를 데이터 신호와 함께 전송하고 수신기에서 매우 간단한 지연 처리를 한 후 이들 수신된 신호들을 상관기 (Correlator) 처리를 하여 데이터를 복조하게 되므로 복잡도는 매우 낮다. 하지만 일반적인 TR-UWB 시스템은 수신단의 상관기에서 이용되는 참조 템플릿의 신호대잡음비 (Signal-to-Noise Ratio; SNR)에 따라 BER 성능이 크게 영향을 받게 된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 참조 템플릿의 SNR을 향상시켜 시스템의 BER 성능을 효과적으로 개선할 수 있는 수신기 구조를 설계하고, 연집 오류를 피하기 위해 인터리버와 길쌈부호를 고용한다. 모의실험 결과, 제안된 기법은 일반적인 TR-UWB 시스템에 비해 매우 큰 BER 성능 향상이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Performance of M-ary PPM UWB Radio in Fading Channels

  • This paper investigates the performance of M-ary pulse position modulation (PPM) multiuser ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems in terms of symbol error rate (SER) over fading and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. Based on Gaussian approximation for the multiple access interference, an expression for the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is derived for the UWB system. This expression is used to derive exact SER expressions for coherent UWB receivers. The effect of pulse selection on the SER of multiuser UWB system is studied. In addition to rectangular pulse, the 2nd derivative Gaussian waveform and Rayleigh pulses were considered. We show that the system capacity and/or SER performance can be significantly increased by using the monocycle pulse in fading channels.

  • A multi-media binary DS/CDMA system with variable processing gain and coherent correlation receivers are considered under additive white Gaussian noise channels. Two types of information sources with different rates and transmitting powers are assumed to be transmitted simultaneously in the same channel. Average signal-to-noise ratios at the correlation receiver outputs for each type of information sources are analytically derived as functions of discrete partial cross-correlations between spreading code sequences. The analysis is expected to provide analytical tools for use in preliminary system design and spreading code selection.

New Analysis on Reception of M-ary FSK Signals over Rician Fading Channels

  • In this paper, we analyze the distribution of the envelope of the received signal over frequency-nonselective slow Rician fading channels with aadditive white Gaussian noise(AWGN). Especially, we can obtain the error rate performance of noncoherent M-ary FSK(MFSK) over slow and flat Rician fading channels and AWGN from the new probability density function(PDF) of the envelope, not PDF of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) published before, of the received signal. When coherent MFSK signals experience the Rician fading channel, the performances are derived, using the union bound.
