  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the impact of aggressiveness of patients and a sense of coherence on posttraumatic stress in psychiatric nurses. Methods: After collecting data from 162 psychiatric nurses, we carried out a t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0. Results: The mean score of posttraumatic stress was $20.75{\pm}16.59$ points. Verbal aggression, aggressiveness about property, aggression toward oneself, and aggression toward others had a positive correlation with posttraumatic stress, while a sense of coherence had a negative correlation with post-traumatic stress. It was concluded that the significant predictors of posttraumatic stress in psychiatric nurses were aggression toward oneself, a sense of coherence, and aggression toward others, all of which accounted for 38.9% of the variability. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the factors influencing posttraumatic stress in psychiatric nurses were aggression toward oneself, aggression toward others, and a sense of coherence. Therefore, education programs should be developed in consideration of the fact that aggressive behavior against the patient himself and against others intensify the posttraumatic stress of the psychiatric nurse, but the integration force mitigates it.

  • Token coherence protocol has many good reasons against snooping/directory-based protocol in terms of latency, bandwidth, and complexity. Token counting easily maintains correctness of the protocol without global ordering of request which is basis of other dominant cache coherence protocols. But this lack of global ordering causes starvation which is not happening in snooping/directory-based protocols. Token coherence protocol solves this problem by providing an emergency mechanism called persistent request. It enforces other processors in the competition (or accessing same shared memory block, to give up their tokens to feed a starving processor. However, as the number of processors grows in a system, the frequency of starvation occurrence increases. In other words, the situation where persistent request occurs becomes too frequent to be emergent. As the frequency of persistent requests increases, not only the cost of each persistent matters since it is based on broadcasting to all processors, but also the increased traffic of persistent requests will saturate the bandwidth of multiprocessor interconnection network. This paper proposes a new request mechanism that defines order of requests to reduce occurrence of persistent requests. This ordering mechanism has been designed to be decentralized since centralized mechanism in both snooping-based protocol and directory-based protocol is one of primary reasons why token coherence protocol has advantage in terms of latency and bandwidth against these two dominant Protocols.

  • The realization of partially coherent Gaussian Schell-model beams with isotropic cross section and anisotropic degree of coherence function is investigated theoretically. An optical system is devised to transform diffused light generated by passing the Gaussian beam of the He-Ne laser thorough a rotating holographic diffuser to the partially coherent Gaussian Schell-model beam with isotropic cross section and anisotropic degree of coherence function. Analytic design equations are formulated and design examples are presented.

  • This paper presents applications of proper orthogonal decomposition in both the time and frequency domains based on both cross spectral matrix and covariance matrix branches to analyze multi-variate unsteady pressure fields on prisms and to study spanwise and chordwise pressure distribution. Furthermore, modification of proper orthogonal decomposition is applied to a rectangular spanwise coherence matrix in order to investigate the spanwise correlation and coherence of the unsteady pressure fields. The unsteady pressure fields have been directly measured in wind tunnel tests on some typical prisms with slenderness ratios B/D=1, B/D=1 with a splitter plate in the wake, and B/D=5. Significance and contribution of the first covariance mode associated with the first principal coordinates as well as those of the first spectral eigenvalue and associated spectral mode are clarified by synthesis of the unsteady pressure fields and identification of intrinsic events inside the unsteady pressure fields. Spanwise coherence of the unsteady pressure fields has been mapped the first time ever for better understanding of their intrinsic characteristics.

  • A phase delay spectrum model towards the representation of spatial coherence of stochastic wind fields is proposed. Different from the classical coherence functions used in the spectral representation methods, the model is derived from the comprehensive description of coherence of fluctuating wind speeds and from the thorough analysis of physical accounts of random factors affecting phase delay, building up a consistent mapping between the simulated fluctuating wind speeds and the basic random variables. It thus includes complete probabilistic information of spatial stochastic wind fields. This treatment prompts a ready and succinct scheme for the simulation of fluctuating wind speeds, and provides a new perspective to the accurate assessment of dynamic reliability of wind-induced structures. Numerical investigations and comparative studies indicate that the developed model is of rationality and of applicability which matches well with the measured data at spatial points of wind fields, whereby the phase spectra at defined datum mark and objective point are feasibly obtained using the numerical scheme associated with the starting-time of phase evolution. In conjunction with the stochastic Fourier amplitude spectrum that we developed previously, the time history of fluctuating wind speeds at any spatial points of wind fields can be readily simulated.

  • Document clustering is an important method for document analysis and is used in many different information retrieval applications. This paper proposes a new document clustering model using the clustering method based NMF(non-negative matrix factorization) and refinement of documents in cluster by using coherence of cluster. The proposed method can improve the quality of document clustering because the re-assigned documents in cluster by using coherence of cluster based similarity between documents, the semantic feature matrix and the semantic variable matrix, which is used in document clustering, can represent an inherent structure of document set more well. The experimental results demonstrate appling the proposed method to document clustering methods achieves better performance than documents clustering methods.

  • In this paper, the swept source optical coherence tomography system has realized using a free-space interferometer based on a beam splitter. Personal computer has completed the control for tunable wavelength laser digitally and the B-scan motor as well. From each experiment for an onion and a salmon egg, we confirmed that the in vivo epidermal cross-sectional images for them can be obtained appropriately.

  • Stochastic phenomena induce us to construct a probability model and structure our thinking; corresponding models help us to understand and interpret the reality. They in turn equip us with tools to recognize, reconstruct and solve problems. Therefore, various implications in terms of methodology as well as epistemology naturally flow from different adoptions of models for probability. Right from the basic scenarios of different perspectives to explore reality, students are occasionally exposed to misunderstanding and misinterpretations. With realistic examples a multi-faceted image of probability and different interpretation will be considered in mathematical modelling activities. As an exploratory investigation, mathematical modelling activity for probability learning was elaborated through semiotic analysis. Especially, the coherence structure in mathematical modelling discourse was reviewed form a semiotic perspective. The discourses sampled from group activities were analyzed on the basis of semiotic perspectives taxonomical coherence relations.

  • Among the various sources of vehicle interior noise, this paper concerns the road induced noise ; the identification of its transfer path by using experimental method. Multiple input and single output model is taken as a noise generation model. Because it is impossible to measure the road imput forces directly, the acceleration signals are measured on four axle;three directions for each point. By considering the cross correlations of input signals, four uncorrelated source groups are taken. Multiple coherence function is employed to investigate the contribution of each group. In addtion, to identify the detailed path through the suspension systems, the contributions of all possible paths are ranked by using the coherence functions between interior noise and the relative accelerations of connections such as bushings and mountings. Measurements are performed with passenger vehicle traveling on concrete and asphalt roads at 60㎞/h.

  • Dual-wavelength holography has a better axial range than single-wavelength holography, allowing unambiguous phase imaging. Partial coherence sources reduce coherent noise, resulting in improved reconstructed images. We measured a ball-grid array using dual-wavelength holography with partial coherence sources. This holography method is useful for measurement samples that exhibit coherence noise and have a step height larger than the single wavelength used in holography.
