The Effectiveness of Streaming Video with Web Based Text in Online Course: Comparative Study on Three Types of Online Instruction for Korean College Students

  • This study is to identify whether three types of online instruction (text-based, video-based, and video-based instruction without text) and age category have a different influence on students' comprehension and motivation. Online students were randomly assigned to one of six groups, and they attended two-week online lectures via Course Management System. The comprehension test and the short form of IMMS were implemented when 114 participants accomplished two-week online lectures. The results revealed that using instructional video in online instruction is more effective instructional medium than text only in order to promote learner's motivation. Besides, older adults aged 41-60 are significantly different from younger adults (21-40 years old) in terms of students' comprehension. Furthermore, three types of online instructions are likely to be influenced by age category.

  • 이 연구는 치매안심센터 인지재활 프로그램의 현황 및 실태분석을 통한 활성화 방안과 다차원적 치료레크리에이션 프로그램에 대한 개발방향과 내용을 도출하고자 D시의 치매안심센타 인지재활 치료프로그램 참여 노인 각 50명씩(5개구)을 선정하였고, 9명을 전문가 집단 의견수렴 대상으로 선정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS ver. 18.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계와 구성요소별 중요도 및 우선순위는 계층구조분석을 시행함으로써, 첫째, 현재 제공되고 있는 인지재활 지원 프로그램은 이용자의 요구와는 달리 지원프로그램이 충분하지 않아 경험이 상당히 낮게 나타났으며, 이에 대한 개선점으로는 돌봄이나 보호시설 확대와 이용자의 요구를 충족할 다양한 프로그램 개발이 중요하다고 나타났고, 둘째, 치료레크리에이션 구성요소별 중요도와 우선순위는 대분류(6개) 운동요법, 중분류(16개) 운동요법의 행동중심 접근법, 소분류(47개) 힘뇌체조, 실버건강체조가 가장 높게 나타났다. 이는 치료레크리에이션 프로그램 개발시 각 영역의 우선순위를 고려한 다차원적 프로그램 계획이 이루어져야 함을 보여주는 결과라 할 수 있다.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Breast Cancer Patients - a Feasibility Study of an 8 Week Intervention for Tumor Associated Fatigue Treatment

  • Background: Tumor associated fatigue (TAF) or cancer related fatigue (CRF) is not a new concept. Nonetheless, no real headway has been made in the quantitative analysis of its successful treatment via cognitive behavioral therapy. Since 20 to 30% of all breast cancer patients suffer from anxiety and/or depression within the first year of their diagnosis, this issue needs to be addressed and a standard treatment protocol has to be developed. This study focused on developing a simple, reproducible and short (8 weeks) protocol for the cognitive behavioral therapy support of tumor associated fatigue patients. Materials and Methods: Between the year 2011 and 2012, 23 breast cancer patients fulfilled the diagnosis TAF requirements and were introduced into this study. Our method focused on a psycho-oncological support group using a predetermined, highly structured and reproducible, cognitive behavioral therapy treatment manual. Eight weekly, 90 minute sessions were conducted and patients were evaluated before and after this eight session block. Tumor fatigue specific questionnaires such as the multidimensional fatigue inventory (MFI) as well as the hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) were used in order to quantitatively evaluate patient TAF. Results: Of the 23 patients enrolled in the study, only 7 patients fulfilled the TAF diagnostic criteria after the psycho-oncological group treatment. This represents a 70% reduction in diagnosable tumor associated fatigue. The HADS analysis showed a 33% reduction in patient anxiety as well as a 57% reduction in patient depression levels. The MFI scores showed a significant reduction in 4 of the 5 evaluate categories. With the exception of the "mental fatigue" MFI category all results were statistically significant. Conclusions: This study showed that a highly structured, cognitive behavioral therapy group intervention will produce significant improvements in breast cancer patient tumor associated fatigue levels after only 8 weeks.

후천성 한글 난독증 환장의 어휘 처리에서 나타나는 구체성 효과 : 범주-특유적인 의미체계에 대한 증거 (The concreteness effect in lexical processing by an acquired Hangul dyslexic: Evidence for category-specific semantic system)

  • 후천성 한글 난동증 환자인 BHS를 대상으로 두 개의 과제를 이용하여 어휘 처리에 있어서의 구체성 효과(concreteness effect)를 조사하였다. 어휘판단과제를 실시한 결과 BHS는 구체어에 비해 추상어에 대해서 상대적으로 많은 오류를 나타내었다. 그러나 비단어에 대한 어휘 판단은 비교적 정확했다. 음독과제를 실시한 결과 어휘판단과제와 동일하게 구체어에 대한 음독수행은 매우 저조하였다. BHS는 구체어보다 추상어에 대한 처리의 손상 정도가 심한 것으로 판단된다. 이러한 결과는 심성어휘집에 있어서 구체어와 추상어가 독립적으로 표상되어 있을 가능성을 시사한다. 또한 BHS의 비단어에 대한 음독이 거의 불가능하였던 것은 자소-음소 변환 경로(조합경로)의 심한 손상에 기인한 것으로 생각된다.

Agrammatic Comprehension of Empty Categories in English

  • This paper reports an experiment on Broca's aphasics' comprehension of a class of English constructions involving empty categories. Based on Grodzinsky's (1986) account of chance-level performance of agrammatic understanding of movement constructions and their thematic role assignments. I show that Grodzinsky's notion of invisible empty categories can be further extended to include pronomical anaphors (PRO's) in Chomsky's (1981) sense and that the asymmetry in their poor comprehension of subject- and object-control constructions can be explained by the heuristic mechanism of the default thematic role assignment rule. eventually supporting Grodzinsky's claim that empty categories are not visible In agrammatic's syntactic representation.

시소러스범주정보를 이용한 질의응답시스템 (A Question Answering System Using the Information of the Category Information of Thesaurus)

  • 정보검색시스템은 사용자의 질의를 입력받아 사용자가 원하는 정보를 검색해주는 시스템을 의미한다. 그러나, 대부분의 정보검색시스템은 단어와 연산자의 조합으로 이루어진 질의를 입력받아 문서를 검색해 주고, 사용자는 그 문서들 중에서 원하는 정보를 다시 찾아내야 한다. 본 논문에서는 영어 자여어질의를 입력 받아 사용자가 원하는 정보에 좀 더 근접한 형태의 답으로서 제한된 길이의 짧은 답을 제시하는 시스템을 구현한다. 시스템은 크게 질의분석단계, 문서검색 및 분석단계, 정보추출단계의 세 단계로 나눌 수 있다. 사용자 질의분석단계에서는 의문사 정보와 오토마타, 시소러스 범주 정보를 이용하여 질의에 대한 정답이 될 수 있는 단어의 속성을 예측하였다. 문서분서단계에서는 정답이 될 수 있는 단어의 후보를 선정하기 위해서 시소러스의 범주정보를 사용하였고, 선정된 정답후보중에서 정답을 추출하기 위해 각 후보단어의 질의단어와의 평균거리가중치, 범주간유사도, 공기질의어비율을 사용하였다. 실험을 통해 평균거리가중치만을 이용하는 것 보다 범주간유사도와 공기질의어비율을 함께 이용하는 것이 성능의 향상을 보였다.

환경교육목표 분석을 통한 학교 환경교육의 실태조사 (The Investigation of the Status of Environmental Education in Schools through Analysis of Goals for Environmental Education)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the status and the problem of environmental education in schools. For this investigation, sub-goals to the general goal for environmental education such as knowledge, awareness, attitude, skill, participation, and evaluation were classified. The contents and objects of the environment-related chapters in elementary and secondary school science texts and of the materials for environmental education were analyzed. Resultingly, the content and objects focused on the cognitive domain such as knowledge and skill category in science texts($85{\sim}92\;%$) and in the materials for environmental education($70{\sim}84\;%$). The result indicated that the objects of the cognitive domain were heavily emphasized in the present environmental education.

  • Recently, Cognitive Radio (CR) techniques for effective usage of limited spectrum band have been researched. In this paper, we introduce two criterions, namely primary-user awareness and coordination, and hence classify CR into four categories based on their combinations. For each category, we describe the functionalities which should be supported by the network, and discuss the advantage/disadvantage expected in a sample scenario.

  • The operator's performance of nuclear power plants is affected by many performance shaping factors(PSF). The objective of this study is to find out the PSFs and their effect on the nuclear power plant operations. We extracted PSFs in five category, and identified the relationships between PSFs and performance using the four survey methods; literture survey, case study, video task analysis and questionnaire survey. Finally the knowledge on PSFs and their effect was represented as rule form for cognitive simulation.

지식기반시스템에서 불확실성처리방법의 비교연구 (A Comparative Study of Uncertainty Handling Methods in Knowledge-Based System)

  • There has been considerable research recently on uncertainty handling in the fields of artificial intelligence and knowledge-based system. Various numerical and non-numerical methods have been proposed for representing and propagating uncertainty in knowledge-based system. The Bayesian method, the Dempster-Shafer's Evidence Theory, the Certainty Factor model and the Fuzzy Set Theory are most frequently appeared in the knowledge-based system. Each of these four methods views uncertainty from a different perspective and propagates it differently. There is no single method which can handle uncertainty properly in all kinds of knowledge-based systems' domain. Therefore a knowledge-based system will work more effectively when the uncertainty handling method in the system fits to the system's environment. This paper proposed a framework for selecting proper uncertainty handling methods in knowledge-based system with respect to characteristics of problem domain and cognitive styles of experts. A schema with strategic/operational and unstructured/structured classification is employed to differenciate domain. And a schema with systematic/intuitive and preceptive/receptive classification is employed to differenciate experts' cognitive style. The characteristics of uncertainty handling methods are compared with characteristics of problem domains and cognitive styles respectively. Then a proper uncertainty handling method is proposed for each category.
