This study investigates the effects of empathy responses towards animated spokes-characters in advertising on brand likability. This study also examines the mediating role of cognitive and affective responses towards character advertising in the effect process of empathy. Statistically, several significant results are found. First, empathy has positive effects on cognitive responses and affective responses. Second, both cognitive and affective responses have positive influence on brand likability, but the effects of cognitive responses show relatively weaker than those of affective responses. Third, empathy has a positive influence on brand likability mediated by cognitive responses, but affective responses as a mediator do not show statistically significant differences. The results of this study indicate consumers can have emotional responses to advertising characters just as they do to human information sources. And the results also imply that enhancement of the empathy intensity should be considered to make effective animated characters in advertising, and that advertising appeals should be practiced to form cognitive responses positively and strongly to strengthen consumers' empathy responses.

This study examined the effects of product recommendation services as an atmosphere for online mass customization shopping sites on consumers' cognitive and affective responses. We conducted a between-subject experimental study using a convenience sample of college students. A total of 196 participants provided usable responses for structural equation modeling analysis. The findings of the study support the S-O-R model for a product recommendation system as an element of the shopping environment with an influence on OMC product evaluations and arousal. The results showed that OMC product recommendation service positively affected cognitive and affective responses. The findings of the study suggest that OMC retailers might pay attention to the affective and cognitive responses of consumers through product recommendation services that can enhance product evaluations and OMC usage intentions.
The purposes of this study were to(a) develop theoretical modifications of the extended gate control theory of pain using Fishbein's model and(b) test the efficacy of these modifications. Attitude, social subjective norm, personal subjective norm, habit and state anxiety were operationalized to represent internal stimuli for the cognitive-evaluative and motivational-affective dimensions of the theory. Pain expression was operationalized as sensory and affective responses to pain, and pain endurance. Sixty-two female nurses from 20 to 50 years of age participated. A semantic differential scale measured attitude and motivations to comply; a Likerty-type scale measured personal and social norms and habit. Spielberger's STAI measured state anxiety, Pain was produced using a modified submaximum effort tourniquet technique. Pair expression was measured using ratio scales of sensory intensity and unpleasantness developed by Gracely and his associates. Pain endurance was measured by subtracting time of pain threshold from pain tolerance. The first hypothesis examining whether pain endurance would be more significantly related to the affective response than to the sensory response was net rejected. Four remaining hypotheses, testing the ability of the five variables to predict the sensory and affective responses were not rejected. However, the habit of pain expression and the attitude toward pain expression contributed to the prediction of both sensory and affective responses to pain. The interaction between the cognitive-evaluative and the sensory-discriminative dimensions and the interaction between the cognitive-evaluative and motivational-affective dimensions were partially supported by the data from these two variables. The interaction between the motivational-affective and the sensory-discriminative dimensions was also supported by the relationship of sensory to affective responses. The variables which did not significantly predict pain expression appeared to have potential for prediction. Revision and testing of the tools for better reliability, validity, and clinical usuability are needed. The study contributed to theory building. The identification of variables which pre-dict pain behavior must occur before effective nursing interventions can be developed.

The purpose of this study were to identify the types of consumer responses and to investigate the attitude formation process toward the fashion advertising. A consusmer attitude model for the fashion advertising and to select relevant variables. A consumer attitude model was composed of the prior brand attitude, the consumer re, ;posses (affective, cognitive) the advertising attitude, the brand attitude, and the purchase intention paradigm. The result of this study were as follows: 1. Consumer responses on the fashion advertising were distingished between affective response and cognitive responses and the degree of responses differed by the advertising appeals types (emotional advertising, sex appeal advertising and product attribute advertising). 2. The main casual course of the fashion advertising was that the prior brand attitude $\rightarrow$ the consumer responses (affective, congnitive) $\rightarrow$ the advertising attitude $\rightarrow$ the brand attitude $\rightarrow$ the purcha, ie intention. These attitude formation process was differed by the advertising appeals types. Finally, consumer responses on the fashion advertising were disinguished beween affective responses and congitive responses, and were affected to advertising attitude, brand attitude, purchase intention. These consumer attitude formation process was differed by the advertising appeals.
Purpose: This study explores the effect on supply chain agility and logistics performance of building mutual trust between manufacturing companies that have adopted supply chain management. Previous studies have categorized trust into affective and cognitive types, and speed, flexibility, and responsiveness are recognized as subfactors of supply chain agility. Methodology: A survey gathered responses from employees of domestic manufacturing firms with supply chain management implementations. 254 valid responses underwent statistical analysis using structural equation modeling (SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 23.0). Results: Affective trust positively influences speed and responsiveness but not flexibility. Cognitive trust positively affects speed, flexibility, and responsiveness. Supply chain agility positively impacts logistics performance. However, neither affective nor cognitive trust significantly influences logistics performance. Conclusions: The study suggests that cognitive trust based on capabilities is more important than affective trust for flexibility in corporate relationships, a subfactor of supply chain agility. However, trust alone cannot enhance corporate performance. This research is significant as it examines the roles of trust and agility in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has exacerbated the manufacturing business environment.
This study was intended to examine the influence of health consciousness on health/taste inferences, affect-based inferences, and perceived conflict between taste and health in food decision making. Seven hundred and fifty-four participants completed the survey. Structural equation modeling with a maximum likelihood method was used to test the relationships among constructs, following the two-step approach. The results of this study showed that more health-conscious consumers have a higher perceived healthfulness of food items but lower anticipated taste. In addition, this study also found consumers' cognitive responses influenced affective responses. Results suggested that when restaurants promote menu items as both healthy and tasty, consumers' positive hedonic emotions (such as pleasure) increased and negative self-conscious emotions (such as guilt) decreased, and consumers' efforts to balance health and taste were supported. At last, the implications both for academia and marketing were also established and discussed.
After defining the determining factor of an attitude on clothing web-site as cognitive responses and affective responses, this study was to investigate how it affects against web-site attitude, brand attitude and purchase intention. To accomplish research subject, this study had an analysis on web-site attitude, brand attitude and purchase intention after selecting 3 department stores having mega fashion malls which run web-sites. Aad(Attitude toward an advertisement) was defined as cognitive responses and affective responses. This research analyzed it by multiple regression analysis after collecting a date from 265 customers who use 3 department stores selected The findings are as follows. First, Aad had a significance impact on web-site attitude across the department stores. Second, Aad had a significance impact on brand attitude across the department stores. Third, Aad had a significance impact on purchase intentions across the department stores. At the end of this paper, discussion, managerial implications, limitations, and future research directions were suggested.
The use of mobile payment services has recently increased in South Korea. Mobile payments allow consumers to purchase items digitally, using a mobile card in an app affiliated with a payment service. This study explores the predictors of intention to adopt mobile payment services. The study employed an A(affective)-B(behavioral)-C(cognitive) model with two antecedent variables: cognitive (perceived usefulness, perceived risk, perceived ease of use, and perceived herding behavior) and affective (satisfaction with the status quo, innovation resistance) responses. An online survey of 405 non-users of mobile payment services aged 20 to 49 years was conducted. The study used SPSS 23.0 for descriptive analysis and Amos 23.0 for confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. The results are as follows. First, perceived usefulness, perceived risk, and perceived herding behavior significantly influenced innovation resistance. Second, perceived herding behavior significantly influenced subjective norms. Third, innovation resistance and subjective norms significantly influenced the intention to adopt mobile payment services. The findings suggest that the A-B-C model can be useful in understanding consumers' adoption and resistance behaviors and that cognitive and affective responses are important antecedent variables affecting the decision to adopt mobile payment services.

This study aims to clarify the implications of rapidly growing live commerce in China by examining the multifaceted aspects of social presence, in particular to help small commerce operators and platform companies. It examines the effect of cognitive and affective social presence on consumer engagement by evaluating consumption values and trust in streamers. In this survey study, the responses of 221 individuals residing in large cities of China were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results showed that cognitive social presence had a positive effect on consumer engagement by mediating the utilitarian value and trust in streamers. Furthermore, affective social presence had a positive effect on consumer engagement through the hedonic value and trust in streamers. Thus, our research provides a new perspective to approaching a multidimensional social presence and understanding consumer behavior in live commerce. Moreover, it contributes to the application and expansion of social presence theory in this field.
This study examined the effects of social identity (cognitive, affective, and evaluative social identity) on affective commitment and behavioral intention in premium food markets. Data were collected from customers who had visited the premium food markets within three months prior to the time of the survey. A total of 247 responses were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 for Windows. The three attributes of social identity (cognitive, affective, and evaluative social identity) had a significant positive effect on the affective commitment, while affective commitment had a positive effect on the behavioral intention in premium food markets. On the other hand, only evaluative social identity had a significant positive effect on the behavioral intention in premium food markets. These results revealed the mediating effect of affective commitment in the relationship between social identity and customers' behavioral intention. This suggests a positive affective commitment as a key factor for customers in premium food markets. The results would be applied to marketing strategies based on the attributes of premium food market customers.
