콘크리트 건조수축 균열제어를 위한 합리적인 최소철근량 (Reasonable Minimum Reinforcement for Crack Control of Concrete Shrinkage)

  • The crack width of concrete structures subjected to shrinkage depend on a great number of parameters whose effects are restrain condition, the number and spacing of crack and the amounts of reinforcements. Through suitable reinforcement it is possible to make the individual cracks exceedigly small. This paper is to present the amount of reasonable reinforcement for crack control through a rational analysis of forces occuring in significantly restrained concrete structures due to the shrinkage. Also the analysis results from this paper are compared with the provisions for shrinkage and temperture reinforcement in the KCI concrete strucural design code.

  • Current code provisions for the development of positive moment reinforcement is reviewed and criticized in this paper. Both the flexural bond and development length concepts are neccesary to consider anchorage requirement of reinforcement at beam ends. The curent design codes show unconservatism for the detailing of reinforcement at the beam ends. This study proposes a new design formula for the development of positive moment reinforcement.

주철근비에 따른 고강도 콘크리트 보의 휨거동 (The Effect of Longitudinal Steel Ratio on Flexural Behavior of Reinforced High Strength Concrete Beams)

  • Eight singly reinforced high strength concrete beams were tested to investigate their flexural behavior. The variable is tensile steel raio. The test results are presented in terms of load-deformation behavior, ductility indexes, and cracking patterns. The flexural strengths obtained experimentally are compapred to the analytical results, and good agreements are obtained. The flexural design provisions of the ACI Building Code are found to be adequate to predict the strength of reinforced high-strength concrete beams.

  • In this paper, the basic concepts and main characteristics in Eurocode 8, which deals with earthquake-resistant design, are reviewed regarding the design of reinforced concrete structures. Eurocode uses the limit-state design method to satisfy the requirements of safety and serviceability. This kind of information can serve to establish the up-coming Korean seismic code which is comprehensive and appropriate to the moderate seismicity region by constituting an important part in the basic data-pool.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the results of researches which have been conducted throughout the world and in Korea concerning the behavior modes of masonry infill panels and frames. The influence of masonry infill panels on the seismic behavior of RC frames must be considered in the design and evaluation procedure though current code provisions do not generally require explicitly this consideration. However, since the level of the earthquake intensity in Korea is assumed to be moderate, the masonry infill panels may cause the different effect to the structure from those in high seismicity region and this difference should be studied in depth in the future.

  • Rationality of strength models for structural concrete depends on how to treat loads on boundaries and load paths within members. Differentiation between strut-and-tie models and stress fields approaches for shear strength models is discussed in this paper for salient use of current design formula in design code provisions. How to model configuration of loads and stress states along the boundary for the regions under provides a key to realistic construction of stress fields together with STM.

Developing connection design rules in China

  • The new version of Code for Design of Steel Structures (GB50017-2003) and other design standards in China were released over the last two years. Comparing with the previous version (GBJ17-88), many clauses covering the connection design have been revised. A number of additional provisions are supplemented to specify the design requirements for beam-column moment connections, as well as gusset plates for truss joints. In this paper, a summary on the design rules on connections specified in the current Chinese code is presented, and relevant commentary and background information is provided whenever appropriate. The design criteria governing weld and bolt resistance is examined and reviewed. Moreover, several issues such as detailing requirements for stiffeners and end-plate connections are discussed.

  • ACI규준에 의하여 설계된 철근콘크리트 보의 휨보강의 신뢰성을 분석하였다. 분석된 결과를 기존의 연구와 비교하였다. 인장철근비가 변함에 따라 일관된 신뢰성이 보장되지 못하고 부적합하게 변하는 것으로 분석되었다. 규준의 최대철근비 조항에 적합하게 설계된 보라도 취성파괴가 매우 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 국내의 철근콘트리트구조물에서는 이러한 현상이 두드러지는 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 현상의 원인을 규명하였고 그 대책을 제시하였다.

법규적 측면에서 고찰한 고층 건축물 공사현장 화재안전 확보방안 (A Study on the Improvement of Fire Safety in high-rise Building Construction in Legal aspects)

  • High rising of the buildings offers a number of risk factors than ever before with regard to fire prevention. Especially in the construction site of high-rise buildings, people waste golden-time during the evacuation because temporary fire fighting facilities are not installed and transferred to a large fire because of fire suppression failure. In this study, the researcher derives the problems of fire protection in high-rise buildings construction sites and proposed the measures in such the legal aspects as fire building construction code and etc. There are the legal improvements such as orders of construction suspension in the problems of fire safety, appointing fire safety manager, temporary fire protection installation standards, enhancing penalty provisions regarding the use of fire, operating self fire brigade, confirming on-site after completing fire-protection facalities, establishment or strengthening special fire-protection investigations.

콘크리트 용도별 최적배합을 위한 연구 (Optimum Mix Design of Concrete)

  • Strength provisions in Korea Concrete Institute code are more conservative that those in ACI code by increasing load factors and decreasing capacity reduction factors. Cement content of mix design in construction field is usually higher than the modified for standard deviation because of rigorous inspection. Higher cement content increases not only strengths but also heat of hydration, shrinkage and brittleness which are not beneficial. To reduce and optimize the cement content in current mix design of Korean Highway Corporation, properties of fresh and hardened concrete for 16 different mix proportions have been investigated. It is found that the chemical admixture and cement of current mix proportions for highway construction are somewhat higher than the optimum amount. Therefore, the optimum mix design for 16 different purposes has been proposed.
