This paper proposes a novel crest factor reduction (CFR) algorithm to be deployed on WCDMA basestation. Generally speaking, it is well described that the reduction of peak-to-average ratio (PAR) yields the possibility of using low cost power amplifier such that the basesation becomes economic However, the simple reduction of PAR could degrade the signal quality measured by either peak code domain error (PCDE) or error vector measurement (EVM), and the level of channel interference constrained by adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR). Regarding these imperfections, this paper introduces an effective CFR algorithm in which the function of filter-dependent CFR (FDCFR) incorporated with the histogram-based waterfilling code domain compensation (HBWCDC) carries out. To verify the performance of the proposed CFR technique, substantial simulations including comparative works are conducted with obeying W-CDMA basestation verification specification. To exploit the superiority, the performance of the proposed method is tentatively compared with that associated to the simple memoryless clipping method and the memory-required filter-dependent clipping method.
In this paper vector code correlation(VCC) method and an algorithm to promote the image processing performance in building an effective measurement system using cameras are described for automatically berthing and controlling the ship equipped with side thrusters. In order to realize automatic ship berthing, it is indispensable that the berthing assistant system on the ship should continuously trace a target in the berth to measure the distance to the target and the ship attitude, such that we can make the ship move to the specified location. The considered system is made up of 4 apparatuses compounded from a CCD camera, a camera direction controller, a popular PC with a built in image processing board and a signal conversion unit connected to parallel port of the PC. The object of this paper is to reduce the image processing time so that the berthing system is able to ensure the safety schedule against risks during approaching to the berth. It could be achieved by composing the vector code image to utilize the gradient of an approximated plane found with the brightness of pixels forming a certain region in an image and verifying the effectiveness on a commonly used PC. From experimental results, it is clear that the proposed method can be applied to the measurement system for automatic ship berthing and has the image processing time of fourfold as compared with the typical template matching method.
The randomness and incipient nature of certain faults in reactor systems warrant a robust and dynamic detection mechanism. Existing models and methods for fault diagnosis using different mathematical/statistical inferences lack incipient and novel faults detection capability. To this end, we propose a fault diagnosis method that utilizes the flexibility of data-driven Support Vector Machine (SVM) for component-level fault diagnosis. The technique integrates separately-built, separately-trained, specialized SVM modules capable of component-level fault diagnosis into a coherent intelligent system, with each SVM module monitoring sub-units of the reactor coolant system. To evaluate the model, marginal faults selected from the failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) are simulated in the steam generator and pressure boundary of the Chinese CNP300 PWR (Qinshan I NPP) reactor coolant system, using a best-estimate thermal-hydraulic code, RELAP5/SCDAP Mod4.0. Multiclass SVM model is trained with component level parameters that represent the steady state and selected faults in the components. For optimization purposes, we considered and compared the performances of different multiclass models in MATLAB, using different coding matrices, as well as different kernel functions on the representative data derived from the simulation of Qinshan I NPP. An optimum predictive model - the Error Correcting Output Code (ECOC) with TenaryComplete coding matrix - was obtained from experiments, and utilized to diagnose the incipient faults. Some of the important diagnostic results and heuristic model evaluation methods are presented in this paper.
The goal of postprocessing in automatic speech recognition is to improve recognition performance by utterance verification at the output of recognition stage. It is focused on the effective rejection of out-of vocabulary words based on the confidence score of hypothesized candidate word. We present two methods for computing confidence scores. Both methods are based on the distance between each observation vector and the representative code vector, which is defined by the most likely code vector at each state. While the first method employs simple time normalization, the second one uses a normalization technique based on the concept of on-line garbage mode[1]. According to the speaker independent isolated words recognition experiment with discrete density HMM, the second method outperforms both the first one and conventional likelihood ratio scoring method[2].

In this paper we propose a new structure of the long code MMSE receiver with pilot channel, which maintians excellent symbol detection capability even in the presence of Rayleigh fading. We explain analytically how the stability of the receiver weight vector, which is critical to the system performance, can be achieved by compensating the error signal as well as received signal vector distorted by fading channel. Computer simulation shows while maintaining better performance than the conventional matched filter receiver, the proposed long code MMSE receiver can extend its period up to $16{\times}T_b$ in a fading environment.

The paper presents an algorithm which uses code vectors to represent comer geometry information for searching the similar images from a database. The comers have been extracted by finding the intersections of the detected lines found using Hough transform. Taking the comer as the center coordinate, the angles of the intersecting lines are determined and are represented using code vectors. A code book has been used to code each comer geometry information and indexes to the code book are generated. For similarity measurement, the histogram of the code book indexes is used. This result in a significant small size feature matrix compared to the algorithms using color features. Experimental results show that use of code vectors is computationally efficient in similarity measurement and the comers being noise invariant produce good results in noisy environments.

In IS-95 and IMT-2000 systems using variable code rates and constraint lengths, this paper limits code rate 1/2 and constraint length 3 and realizes forward real-time decoder using Sliding-Window with decoding length 6 and PVSL(Prototype Vector Selecting Logic), LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) in Neural Network. In comparison condition to theoretically constrained AWGN channel environment at $S/(N_{0}/2)=1$ I verified the superiority of forward real-time decoder through hard-decision and soft-decision comparison between Viterbi decoder and forward real-time decoder such as BER and Secure Communication and H/W Structure.

Abstract In this paper, an improved index assignment procedure is proposed to reduce the channel error effect in a communication system employing classified vector quantization(CVQ). The proposed algorithm consists of two parts: inner index assignment (IIA) and cross index assignment (CIA). The II A reduces the distortion resulting from the error in order bits, presenting the identity of each code vector in a subcodebook. The CIA modifies the indexes assigned by the IIA in such a way that the effect of the channel error occurring in class bits, indicating the class information of the code vector, can be minimized. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms enable a reliable communication over noisy channels even without employing the channel encoding. Index Terms Classified vector quantization, index assignment.

In this paper, attempts have been made to code images employing a separating mean vector quantizer(SMVQ). Then we analyzed the performance of the SMVQ experimentally as well as analytically. The results of simulation with natural images are presented. But, conclusively the performance of the SMVQ technique is not better than that of the conventional vector quantizer. In this paper, a brief analysis in which we revealed that the performance, based on the mean square error measure, of the SMVQ is not favorable is favorable is discussed.

This study proposed the composition of a new long-code MMSE detector using the pilot channel that demonstrated the most excellent performance under Rayleigh fading in the previous studies. It analyzed and explained how to maintain the stability of the weight vector(introduction to the course of radio waves) in the receiver. In the operation of the receiver system to remove radio interference, the signal vector distortion received in the channel where fading was present achieved good results by compensating for signal errors. When there was distortion, the response characteristics of the received signals were superior to the common matching filter according to the computer simulation. The long-code MMSE receiver proposed in the study was able to prolong the cycle by $16{\times}T_b$ in the fading environment to fulfill the satisfaction.
