Although the coastal area of Jeju has already been developed, it has high pressure and demands for development continually increasing due to the increase of tourism and leisure activities. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to present objective guidance for the planning of the buildings on the seaside road with a view which have the largest impact on coastal landscape in order to enhance its visual quality. The results of this study are as follows : 1) It is chief element to make guidance for the use and planning of buildings in the conservation of the coastal landscape. 2) The D/H ratios which immediately influence an angle of elevation are different one another for the whole street. To ensure a sense of openness for the landscape, it is needed to maintain under $27^{\circ}$ angle of elevation, which demands 1~3 D/H ratio. 3) It is important to make 2.4 visual blockage ratio for whole street, but the actual condition is 4.48 ratio on average. To bring down the visual blockage ratio, the W/D ratio needs to be regulated. 4) Various techniques are also needed for lively building styles going with coastal landscape.
The purpose of this study is for providing a strategic plan of waterfront belt development at the coastal area of Busan city that might enhance the possibility on healthy use of spare time of the residents and demand of tourism, together with raising the potential and the value added effect of coastal space. This study is one of a series of studies for developing waterfront belt at Busan coastal area. In this study we suggest the new concepts of waterfront belt, waterfront cluster and waterfront greenway. And then we present a model of making waterfront belt through waterfront cluster, which is an aggregate of individual waterfront spaces, using waterfront greenway. After that we apply this model to Haeundae coastal area and test the applicability of the model.

Fishery industry is an important part of agricultural industry in coastal countries. The purpose of this study is to use the theory of industrial competitiveness for reference, use Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Delphi method to establish the evaluation index system, and analyze the fishery industry competitiveness of 11 coastal provinces in China. This study data came from China Fishery Statistical Yearbook 2020. The results show that Shandong Province is the most competitive province in fishery industry among the coastal provinces. The inter-provincial differences are great. Not only the resource endowment is the factor that affects the fishery industry competitiveness, but also the long-term profitability is too. The proportion of recreational fishery in the fishery economic output value has become one of the main indicators to measure the competitiveness of the fishery industry. The findings of this study suggest that all regions should adopt measures in accordance with local conditions, promote the integrated development of the fishery industry, enhance the added value of fishery products and enhance the competitiveness of fishery industry. The disadvantage of this study is that the fishery industry competitiveness of China's coastal provinces is only compared and analyzed. The future direction is to carry out a comparative study on the international competitiveness of fishery with other east Asian countries.

This paper suggested the improvement of marine environmental impact assessment in eastern coast as analyzing consultation on the coastal area utilization for development of ports and fishing harbors for 3years in the east coast. The results of survey are only 3cases, 12cases and 16cases each for ocean currents, wave and sounding data. However, for development of ports and fishing harbors in eastern coast, ocean characteristics in eastern coast different than in the West Sea, South Sea is considered to marine environmental impact assessment. For development of ports and fishing harbors in east coast where the influences of ocean currents, wind-driven current and waves are dominant, the effect of the current should be considered to improve the reproducibility of tidal current. The wave should also be considered as an assessment criteria to obtain the validity of project such as harbor tranquility, functionality of breakwaters and stability. In addition, sediment inflow in river and exact water depth data of the ocean should be applied to numerical modeling and set wave-induced current to external force of sediment transport to predict the problems such as the harbor siltation and the coastal erosion considering ocean characteristics in the east coast.
Since 1970's, various satellite remote sensing technology has been developed and accumulation of observational data has been carried out, and coastal environment monitoring research is being conducted through analysis of relationship between satellite remote sensing data and coastal sedimentary environment. However, generation of coastal thematic maps by various national agencies are not included in the production of coastal themes using satellite imagery. In this study, we want to deduct the current problems through survey of marine spatial information provided by the government. The purpose of this study is to investigation the direction of the development of large scale coastal thematic maps by analyzing coastal boundary map, coastal topographic map and coastal sedimentary facies map.
The word 'Saemangeum' indicates an estuarine tidal flat in the southwestern part of the Korean peninsula. The Saemangeum Reclamation Project was launched as a national project in 1991 to reclaim a large coastal area of $401\;km^2$ by constructing a 33-km long dyke. The final dyke enclosure in April 2006 has transformed the tidal flat into lake and land. An integrated oceanographic study has been conducted since 2002 as a part of the Government Action Plan to monitor and assess changes in the marine environment. Prior to the dyke enclosure, the coastal environment in the Saemangeum was a complex system governed by tidal motion, estuarine processes, and coastal circulation of the Yellow Sea. The dyke construction has radically changed not only the estuarine tidal system inside the dyke, but also the coastal marine environment outside the dyke. Post to the dyke enclosure, subsequent changes such as red tide, hypoxia, and coastal erosion/deposition occur successively. Red tides appear almost the year round in the inner area. Even under the condition that the sluice gates are fully open, the water quality does not improve as much as the developers would expect, mainly due to the critical reduction of the hydrodynamic stirring power. We will introduce details of our monitoring program and significant changes in the Saemangeum marine environment, based on observations and model results.
Since being launched for ocean observing in 1997, the SeaWiFS sensor has supplied data on ocean chlorophyll distribution and environmental conditions of the atmosphere. Until now, a lot of SeaWiFS data have been archived and utilized for ocean monitoring and land observation. The SeaWiFS sensor has 1km spatial resolution, therefore, it is difficult to obtain data at the coastal zone. Since atmospheric correction algorithms at the coastal area have not been confirmed for chlorophyll algorithm, the ocean color data analysis for coastal zone is not common. In particular, domestic coastal areas have high suspended sediments concentrations and higher absorption influence of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM), released from in-land, than open-sea. Thus, a useful algorithm for analysis of chlorophyll distribution in domestic coastal areas has not been developed. In this study, empirical algorithms, using data from the ocean color sensor, were developed for monitoring of chlorophyll distribution of coastal areas. In the process of the development of the algorithms, we can find that the red band (665nm) should be used for analyzing of domestic coastal areas near the Yellow Sea.

We investigated the reproductive characteristics of Lycodes tanakae in the coastal waters of the middle East Sea to elucidate the species' population structure. We investigated Lycodes tanakae maturation and spawning based on samples collected by Danish seine and gill nets from January 2012 to December 2013. We analyzed monthly changes in maturity stage, gonadosomatic index (GSI), egg diameter, fecundity, and total length at 50% group maturity. The spawning period was December to February, while fecundity ranged from 1,677 eggs at 57.3 cm (total length;TL) to 6,445 eggs at 75.7 cm. The relationship between TL and fecundity (F) was $F_e=6E-05TL^{3.127}$ ($R^2$ = 0.516), and F increased with increasing TL. We estimated the TL at 50% group maturity as 60.4 cm for females and 59.8 cm for males. This study is the first report of Lycodes tanakae reproductive characteristics in the coastal waters of the middle East Sea.

We review the adaptation strategies of the 21st climate change in an application to sea level rise. For the development of appropriate adaptation strategies on the coast vulnerable to the sea level rise, we have to consider the issues such as where to adapt, how to adapt, and when to adapt. The coastal target needed adaptation can be found by the evaluation of adaptive capacity of the coastal zone which requires the understanding of impacts and adaptive potential of the natural and socioeconomic systems in the coastal zone. Planned adaptation options to sea level rise can be classified into three generic approaches as managed retreat, accommodation, and protection In practice, the implementation of the options requires the analysis of land use, degree of vulnerability, cost and benefit, etc, and may be combination of the options rather than one approach. In terms of the response timing, the adaptation can be grouped as anticipatory and reactive ones. Generally it is more effective to consider both anticipatory and reactive adaptations at the same time for the impacts of future sea level rise. Due to the scientific uncertainty of climate change issues including sea level rise, the adaptation processes have to be designed to deal with a series of processes such as information md awareness establishment, planning and design implementation, and monitoring and evaluation in continuity and long-term period.

Long-term wave observation was carried out near Busan New Port and the major wave characteristics were analyzed. At Busan New Port, waves from south direction were predominant throughout the year, while waves from the west, developed at the north sea of Geoje island, appeared almost the same frequency in winter season, showing apparent seasonal variation. During the observation period, the significant wave height was mostly less than 1 m, but it reached its maximum of 8.0 m when typhoon Maemi passed on September 2003. Also, the seasonal variation was hardly observed except July. In contrast, seasonal variation was apparent for the significant wave period, whose peak ranges 4~5 s in summer whereas about 3 s in winter. The largest significant wave period was 15.56 s, observed on June 2003. Meanwhile, the annual variation was negligible for mean wave direction as well as significant wave height and period. Further analysis of the wave data acquired for 5 years at 4.5 km south, in the south sea of Daejuk island, confirmed high correlation between the two observation points in summer and vice versa in winter.
