Experimental tests on the high strength self-compacting concrete with light-weight fine aggregate and light-weight coarse aggregate(LHSSC) were performed with slump-flow, reaching time to the slump-flow of 500mm, V-funnel dropping time and U-box difference level and compressive strength. LHSCC with light-weight fine aggregate of 75% and light-weight coarse aggregate of 100% was only satisfied with the property conditions of second self-compacting concrete(SCC), like as flowability, resistance to segregation and filling ability. The 28-day compressive strength of LHSCC indicated above 300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in all concrete mixtures, and it was increased to increase the replacement ratio of light-weight fine aggregate or to decrease the replacement ratio of light-weight coarse aggregate. Therefore, for satisfying the properties of fresh SCC and hardened concrete with above 350kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, it would expected that the replacement ratio of light-weight fine aggregate and light-weight coarse aggregate will be determined with 50~75% and 25~50%, respectively.
The influence of the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate to the unit powder content of concrete and the fine aggregate ratio for the increase of the flowability and segregation resistance of high performance concrete was examined. According to the experimental results, flowability and compacting of concrete presents best states in the S/a which has the smallest 패야 ratio. The coarse aggregate after improvement of grain shape, that has changed from the 0.68 of spherical rate of disk shape to 0.73, led fine aggregate ratio to be down 6% (i.e from 47% to 41%). The improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate also led the lowest unit powder content to be down 60kg/㎥ (ie from 530kg/㎥ to 470kg/㎥). And approximate 10% of unit water content has been reduced as unit powder content was down. However, the compressive strength after the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate decreased to 5% due to decrease of adhesiveness of the aggregate and cement paste.
This research investigates experimentally an effect on the quality performances of the high flowing concrete according to binder types. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix proportion of the high flowing concrete having good flowability, viscosity and no-segregation. For this purpose, two types using belite cement+lime stone powder(LSP) and furnace slag cement+lime stone powder are selected and tested by design factors including water cement ratio, fine and coarse aggregate volume ratio. As test results of this study, the optimum mix proportion for binder types is as followings. 1) One type based belite cement ; water cement ratio $51^{\circ}C$, fine aggregate volume ratio $43^{\circ}C$ and coarse aggregate volume ratio $53^{\circ}C$, replacement ratio of LSP $42.7^{\circ}C$. 2) Another type based slag cement : water cement ratio $41^{\circ}C$, fine aggregate volume ratio $47^{\circ}C$ and coarse aggregate volume ratio $53^{\circ}C$, replacement ratio of LSP $13.5^{\circ}C$.
The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the flowability and the compressive strength of concrete after the improving of grain shape of the coarse aggregate and fine aggregate fineness modulus. According to the experimental results, the coarse aggregate after improvement of grain shape it lead to be down by 6% fine aggregate ratio, from 47% to 41%. The 0.5% increase of fine aggregate fineness modulus lead to 3% increase of concrete slump, and 1% reduction of concrete air content. While compressive strength on fine aggregate fineness modulus, it was increased until fineness modulus 3.0, but after it reached by 3.5 it was decreased. The compressive strength of the coarse aggregate after improving the grain shape was decreased by 6% due to loss of the adhesion of cement paste.
The main objective of this study was to evaluated the physical properties of concrete with substitution ratio of recycled fine aggregate and recycled coarse aggregate made of waste concrete. The replacement ratios of recycled coarse and fine aggregate decided 0%, 30%, 40% and 50% respectively to get the deregulate of floor space Index. The test result showed that compression strength of cylinder mold decrease with the substitution ratio increase but its strength of replaced recycled fine aggregate higher than OPC.
This study aims to examine the influence of the unit powder content of concrete and the fine aggregate ration of high flowing concrete after the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate. According to the experimental results, flowbility and compating of concrete presents the best states in the S/a which has the smallest void ratio. The coarse aggregate after improvement of grain shape has been changed from 0.68 circular ratio of disc shape to 0.73 circular shape. It lead to be down 6% of fine aggregate ratio (from 47% to 41%), which is satisfactory to compacting. Also, the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate lead the lowest unit powder content to be down 60kg/㎥ from (530kg/㎥ to 470kg/㎥). And about 11% unit water content can be reduced as unit powder conent is down.
It was very important to evaluate concrete experimentally at elevated temperature because concrete was filled with aggregate of concrete volume about 70 percent. Concrete exposure to high temperatures produces changes in its internal structure, for instance loss of its strength and deformation capacity, in extreme cases risking the service life of the structure. The work of this paper is performed to evaluate the thermal behavior of ultra-high strength concrete having different water to cement ratio (strength), fine aggregate to aggregate ratio and maximum size of coarse aggregate. For exposure to 500℃ during 1 hour, residual mechanical properties of the ultra-high strength concrete decreased as the s/a ratio decreases and the maximum size of coarse aggregate increases.
This study investigates experimentally into the design factors and quality variations having an effect on the properties of the combined high flowing concrete to be poured in the slurry wall of Inchon LNG in-ground receiving terminal. Especially, high belite cement and lime stone powder as cementitious materials and viscosity agent in order to improve self-compaction and hydration heat are used in this study. Water-cement ratio(W/C), fine aggregate volume ratio(Sr) and coarse aggregate volume ratio(Gv) as design factors of the combined high flowing concrete are applied to determine the optimum mix design proportion. Also quality variations for sensitivity test are selected items as followings. (1)Surface moisture(5cases) and (2)Fineness modulus of fine aggregate(5cases), (3)Concrete temperature(3cases), (4)Specific surface(3cases) and particle size of lime stone powder. As experimental results, water-cement ratio, fine and coarse aggregate volume ratio are shown as the optimum range 51%, 43% and 53% separately considering site condition of slurry wall. Also quality factors by sensitivity test should be controlled in the following ranges. (1) Surface moisture :to.67% and (2)Fineness modulus 2.6$\pm$0.2 of fine aggregate, (3)Concrete temperature l0-20t, (4) Specific surface 6,000$\textrm{cm}^2$/g and particle size 9.7$\pm$1.0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of lime stone powder. Based on the results of this study, the optimum mix design proportion of the combined high flowing concrete are selected and poured successfully in the slurry wall of LNG in-ground tank.
In this study, the experiment was carried out to investigate and analyze the influence of coarse aggregate's mix ratio and maximum size on the properties of concrete. The main experimental variables were water/cement ratio 45% and 65%, coarse aggregate/fine aggregate ratio 90%, 130% and 170%, maximum size of coarse aggregate 15mm, 25mm and 40mm. According to the test results, the principal conclusions are summarized as follows. 1) The slump and flow of fresh concrete were found to be higher in the order of G/S ratio 170%, 130%, 90%, also in the order of maximum size 40mm, 25mm, 15mm. 2) The compressive strength of hardened concrete were found to be higher in the order of G/S ratio 170%, 130%, 90%, also in the order of maximum size 15mm, 25mm, 40mm.
