The quality of 2D-to-3D conversion depends on the accuracy of the assigned depth to scene objects. Manual depth painting for given objects is labor intensive as each frame is painted. Specifically, a human is one of the most challenging objects for a high-quality conversion, as a human body is an articulated figure and has many degrees of freedom (DOF). In addition, various styles of clothes, accessories, and hair create a very complex silhouette around the 2D human object. We propose an efficient method to estimate visually pleasing depths of a human at every frame in a monocular video. First, a 3D template model is matched to a person in a monocular video with a small number of specified user correspondences. Our pose estimation with sequential joint angular constraints reproduces a various range of human motions (i.e., spine bending) by allowing the utilization of a fully skinned 3D model with a large number of joints and DOFs. The initial depth of the 2D object in the video is assigned from the matched results, and then propagated toward areas where the depth is missing to produce a complete depth map. For the effective handling of the complex silhouettes and appearances, we introduce a partial depth propagation method based on color segmentation to ensure the detail of the results. We compared the result and depth maps painted by experienced artists. The comparison shows that our method produces viable depth maps of humans in monocular videos efficiently.

Small valves including ball valves, gate valves and butterfly valves have been adopted in the fields of steam power generation, petrochemical industry, carriers, and oil tankers. Butterfly valves have normally been applied to fields where in narrow places installing the existing valves such as gate valves and ball valves have proven difficult due to the surrounding area and the heavier of these valves. Butterfly valves are used to control the mass flow of the piping system under low pressure by rotating the circular disk installed inside. The butterfly valve is benefitted by having simpler structure in which the flow is controlled by rotating the disc circular plate along the center axis, whereas the weight of the valve is light compared to the gate valve and ball valve above-mentioned, as there is no additional bracket supporting the valve body. The manufacturing company needs to acquire the performance and life test equipment, in the case of adopting the improving factors to detect leakage and damage on the seat of the valve disc. However, small companies, which are manufacturing the industrial valves, normally sell their products without the life test, which is the reliability test and environment test, because of financial and manpower problems. Furthermore, the failure mode analysis of the products failed in the field is likewise problematic as there is no system collecting the failure data on sites for analyzing the failures of valves. The analyzing and researching process is not arranged systematically because of the financial problem. Therefore this study firstly tried to obtain information about the failure data from the sites, analyzed the failure mode based on the field data collected from the customers, and then obtained field data using measuring equipment. Secondly, we designed and manufactured the performance and life test equipment which also have the real time monitoring system with the naked eye for the butterfly valves. The concept of this equipment can also be adopted by other valves, such as the ball valve, gate valve, and various others. It can be applied to variously sized valves, ranging from 25 mm to large sized valves exceeding 3000 mm. Finally, this study carries out the life test with square wave pressure, using performance and life test equipment. The performance found out that the failures from the real time monitoring system were good. The results of this study can be expanded to the other valves like ball valves, gate valves, and control valves to find out the failure mode using the real time monitoring system for durability and performance tests.
Epoxy resin has superior durability and adhesive strength and proper physical strength so that it is used to diversity materials for multi-purposes. However epoxy resin is hardly removed after hardening specially once it is applied to artefacts, it is difficult to remove them under re-conservation. This paper is an experimental study on removing epoxy resin applied to iron objects using Nd:YAG laser cleaning system. Tests conducted in this study investigated how increasing laser energy and pulses would give effect on samples. The samples were prepared in a way that epoxy resin, itself pure and one which was mixed with pigment and they were applied to iron coupons and corroded iron coupons respectively. As a result of experiment, pure epoxy resin applied to corroded iron coupons was ablated at high laser energy but epoxy resin applied to iron coupons and mixing with pigment were not ablated but discolored and bubbled due to laser-induced heat generation. Results of FT-IR showed no component alteration of shifted resins and no residues on the surfaces ablated by laser irradiation. From SEM-EDS for removed surfaces, the debris from epoxy resin and melting iron was observed. Therefore, this study demonstrated the possibilities and limitations for laser cleaning to remove epoxy resin from iron objects.

Among various clean energy technologies, the solar energy technology has been widely used in various fields such as photovoltaic power generation and solar water/space heating. These days, special attention is drawn on its conversion into acoustic energy along with waste heat as a means to promote clean energy utilization. This work was carried out to investigate the possibility of converting solar energy into acoustic waves, especially, its performance characteristics for a single resonance tube (20.2 mm in ID). Variations are made for the stack length and its position as well as power supply. For a resonance tube of 200mm, an average sound pressure of 114.5 dB was measured with a stack length of 25.6mm at 5cm from the closed end. When the power supply was increased to 35W, an average sound pressure of 117.29 dB was detected with a frequency of 500Hz. There was an increase in frequency, 630 Hz (115.7dB), with a shorter resonance tube of 150mm.

This study is to analyze and evaluate water resource development potential in North Korea. The study was conducted to analyze selected potential hydropower as an indicator to evaluate water resource development potential. Potential hydropower means theoretical value about the potential capacity of river. It is used to evaluate the amount of development through the hydropower generation. For calculating potential hydropower, monthly average and annual average of rainfall for each river basin were calculated by using the data of 27 rainfall stations in North Korea. As a result of the calculation of theoretical potential hydropower by rainfall in the seven major basins in North Korea, the Aprok River basin was analyzed to be the largest with $7,562.2{\times}10^3kW$. The efficiency and utilization rate of theoretical potential hydraulic power in South Korea and North Korea was 42.3% and 36.2%, respectively. The Daedong River basin's potential hydropower utilization rate is 12.3%, which is the lowest in North Korea. In the case of Daedong River basin, more than 40% of the total population is inhabited, so demand for water and electricity is expected to be the largest. Therefore, the Daedong River basin is considered as a priority area for water resource development. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for future water resource development projects and research activities in North Korea.

Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) silicon dioxide thin films have many applications in semiconductor manufacturing such as inter-level dielectric and gate dielectric metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs). Fundamental chemical reaction for the formation of SiO2 includes SiH4 and O2, but mixture of SiH4 and N2O is preferable because of lower hydrogen concentration in the deposited film [1]. It is also known that binding energy of N-N is higher than that of N-O, so the particle generation by molecular reaction can be reduced by reducing reactive nitrogen during the deposition process. However, nitrous oxide (N2O) gives rise to nitric oxide (NO) on reaction with oxygen atoms, which in turn reacts with ozone. NO became a greenhouse gas which is naturally occurred regulating of stratospheric ozone. In fact, it takes global warming effect about 300 times higher than carbon dioxide (CO2). Industries regard that N2O is inevitable for their device fabrication; however, it is worthwhile to develop a marginable nitrous oxide free process for university lab classes considering educational and environmental purpose. In this paper, we developed environmental friendly and material cost efficient SiO2 deposition process by substituting N2O with O2 targeting university hands-on laboratory course. Experiment was performed by two level statistical design of experiment (DOE) with three process parameters including RF power, susceptor temperature, and oxygen gas flow. Responses of interests to optimize the process were deposition rate, film uniformity, surface roughness, and electrical dielectric property. We observed some power like particle formation on wafer in some experiment, and we postulate that the thermal and electrical energy to dissociate gas molecule was relatively lower than other runs. However, we were able to find a marginable process region with less than 3% uniformity requirement in our process optimization goal. Surface roughness measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM) presented some evidence of the agglomeration of silane related particles, and the result was still satisfactory for the purpose of this research. This newly developed SiO2 deposition process is currently under verification with repeated experimental run on 4 inches wafer, and it will be adopted to Semiconductor Material and Process course offered in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Myongji University from spring semester in 2012.

We synthesized novel polyimides with high gas permeability and selectivity for application of on board inert gas generation system (OBIGGS). 2,2-bis(3,4-carboxylphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA) and two kinds of amines with high permeability and solubility were used to prepare the novel polymide. 2,3,5,6-Tetramethyl-1,4-phenylenediamine (TMPD) was used to improve gas permeability and various kinds of diamines were used to improve the gas selectivity respectively. The polyimide copolymers were synthesized by commercial chemical imidization method and their average molecular weights were over 100,000g/mol. The glass temperature ($T_g$) and the thermal degradation temperature were characterized using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The synthesized copolymers showed high $T_g$ over $300^{\circ}C$ and high thermal degradation temperature over $500^{\circ}C$. The gas permeation properties were measured by time-lag equipment. Although general polyimides showed very low gas permeability, synthesized polyimide copolymer showed high $O_2$ permeability of 36.21 barrer with high $O_2/N_2$ selectivity around 4.1. From this result, we confirm that these membranes have possibility to apply to OBIGGS.
Fracture mode and carbide reactions of cast alloy 738LC during thermal exposure and creep at 816$^{\circ}C$/440MPa and 982$^{\circ}C$/152MPa were investigated. Crystallographic transgranular failure was observed in the specimen crept at 816$^{\circ}C$ due to shearing on the slip plane. Because selective oxidation at the grainboundaries which was exposed at the surface leads reduction in surface energy, however, early initiation of crack at the grainboundaries and intergranular failure were observed in the specimen crept at 982$^{\circ}C$/152MPa. As a result of decomposition of MC carbide at the tested temperatures, M(sub)23C(sub)6 carbide precipitated either on the grainboundaries or on the deformation band. The applied stress enhanced decomposition of MC. $\sigma$phase nucleated from Cr(sub)23C(sub)6 then grew to the ${\gamma}$+${\gamma}$\\` matrix. Precipitation of $\sigma$was accelerated by increasing temperature and applied stress.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different feeding level of TDN (Total Digestible Nutrients) on the generation of main greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane in Hanwoo cows. The diet TDN (kg) adjusted to achieve ADG of 0 g/day (Control), 200 g/day (T1), and 400 g/day (T2) of the maintenance level TMR (Total Mixed Ration) delivered twice a day at 08:30 and 17:30. Cow are housed in a respiration chamber and the environmental temperature was maintained at $20^{\circ}C$. The gases were measured for 24 hours using the multi-detector instrument Mamos-300. The analyzed methane emissions of T1 and T2 were 33.5% and 69.6% higher than control, respectively, and the carbon dioxide emissions were 21.1% and 40.6% higher than control. Also, the hourly pattern of carbon dioxide and methane production were showed very similar emission. Gas production showed peak after 1 hour of feeding and this gap was wider in the afternoon than in the morning hours. It is clearly conducted that $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ emissions were different by limited intake levels of feed.
