노년 남성의 의복행동과 신체이미지가 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Clothing Behavior and Body Image on the Quality of Life of Elderly Men)

  • This study investigated factors that contribute to the clothing behavior and body image of elderly men, how these factors vary by demographic characteristics, and how these factors affect quality of life. The subjects were 250 elderly men selected by convenience sampling between the ages of 60 to 80 who lived in Gyeongnam province. They participated in a survey from May-June 2012. Out of the 250 participants only 227 were used to analyze the data due to the completeness of their survey. The results showed that the factors for clothing behavior were social psychological importance, conformity, economic efficiency, fashion interest, and interpersonal intention. For body image, the factors revealed were physical attractiveness, interest in appearance, and concern about weight. Differences in the clothing behavior, body image, and quality of life were indicated by the demographic characteristics of the subjects. Clothing behavior and body image of elderly men were revealed as a contributing factor towards quality of life.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the social values and selected clothing behavior variable for a group of working women in Kwang Ju, Chonnam, Korea. The findings of this study as follows: 1. The were differences in selective clothing variables according to their general characteristics; age, marital status, religion. 2. There were differences in selective clothing variables according to their occupational characteristics; type, length of employment, income. 3. A significant relationship was found between he social values and selected clothing behavior variables; There were significant relationship between the social trend and five clothing behavior variables; social approval, psychological dependence, satisfaction, comfort, interest. There ere significant relationship between the human relation and one clothing variables; management. There were significant relationship between the popularization and three clothing behavior variables; social approval, psychological dependence and management.

지각적 신체이미지, 외모관리행동이 의복행동에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Perceptual Body Image and Appearance Management Behavior on Clothing Behaviors)

  • This study examines the significant relations in clothing behavior according to perceptual body image and appearance management behavior. The sampling method was a convenient sampling of 190 male and 160 female students in Daejeon. The survey was conducted from June to July 2008. The instruments consisted of perceptual body image (Silhouette Task), appearance management behavior (need for plastic surgery and appearance management in ordinary times) and clothing behavior (interest in clothing and fashion, along with conformity and exhibition). The data were analyzed using the frequency analysis, $Cronbach'{\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, and variance analysis. The subjects with normal body size perceptions had a strong need for plastic surgery, revealed more appearance management behavior, and had a high interest in clothing. The subjects who were dissatisfied with body apperance showed high conformity to clothing. The subjects who dissatisfied to their too fat body had high needs for plastic surgery and the subjects dissatisfied with a too thin body type did less appearance management in ordinary times. The subjects who had a high need for plastic surgery performed more appearance management, had a high interest in clothing and fashion, showed a high conformity to clothing, and exhibited a high exhibition of clothing. The subjects who had more appearance management in ordinary times had a high interest in clothing and fashion and showed a high conformity and exhibition of clothing.

대중국 마케팅을 위한 중국 직장여성들의 한국 의류상품 구매집단과 비구매집단의 의복구매행동 비교연구 (A Study on Clothing Purchase Behavior of Chinese Women Based on Experience in Purchasing Korean Clothing for Establishment of Marketing Strategies for China)

  • The purpose of this study was to segment Chinese career women by experience in purchasing Korean clothing and to analyze and compare clothing purchasing behavior between the 2 groups and to provide useful information to Korean manufacturers for establishment of marketing strategies for China. The subjects were 602 career women of middle and high class In their 20's and 30's. A total of 602 questionnaires were analyzed by using frequency, mean, Cronbach's $\alpha$, factor analysis, t-test and $X^2$-analysis. The results were as follows: 1. The demographic variables such as an age, residential city, marriage, and total monthly income were proven to be significantly different between the 2 groups except an academic background. 2. The clothing purchase behavior variables such as purchasing motive, using informants, clothing selection standards, store selection standards, purchasing place, satisfaction after purchasing clothes, shopping time, average monthly expenditure on clothing, purchasing frequency of casual wear, purchasing price, and paying method were proven to be significantly different between the 2 groups. However, the clothing purchase behavior variables such as purchasing frequency of formal wear and purchasing price of fur coat and sweater were proven not to be significantly different between the 2 groups.

다문화가정과 한국가정 청소년의 자아존중감과 신체만족도에 따른 의복행동특성에 관한 비교연구 (A Study of Clothing Behavior According to the Self-Esteem, Body Cathexis Between Multicultural and Korean Family Adolescents)

  • The purpose of this study was to clothing behavior according to the self-esteem, body cathexis in multicultural familie adolescents. The data was collected by using questionnaire survey based on pre-tests, and main survey conducted in Seoul, Gyeonggi province and Chungcheong province. The 236 participants came from 135 multicultural families and 101 Korean Self-esteem, body cathexis, clothing behavior were examined through 5-point likert scale. 3 factors including clothing interest, social approval and clothing conformity were used as clothing behavior. The analysis of the collected data was conducted by using SPSS 18.0. The results of this study is as follows: First, multi-cultural family adolescent showed higher self-esteem, body cathexis, than Korean family adolescent. Second, self-esteem were positively correlated, with body cathexis in both multi-cultural family and Korean family adolescent. Third, in multi-cultural family adolescent, body cathexis were positively correlated with clothing interest, social approval and clothing conformity. In Korean family adolescent, body cathexis were positively correlated with social approval and body cathexis were negatively correlated with clothing conformity.

의복 태도 변인들에 대한 연구 (A Study on Clothing Attitude Variables)

  • In the field of psychology of clothing and fashion marketing, there have been many studies on clothing behavior but have been poorly catgorized according to the characteristics of variables. The author reviewed 120 recent studies on clothing varaibles published in Korea and grouped the variables into three categories. They are 1) the clot, ting atitude variables that consistently influence the Personal clothing behavior; 2) the market variables that are inherent to the market itself; and 3) the clothing consumer behavior uapiables that ate most related to the clothing consumer behavior. In this study the author surveyed and found that the following 9 major clothing attitude variables had been most frequently studied, including practicality, economy, modesity, aesthetics, fashionability, conformity and individuality, status symbolism, importance, and satisfaction. Two other categories will be reported in the following papers.

의복처분행동에 관한 연구 -환경보존적 태도, 행동, 정보 접촉 및 인구통계학적 특성과의 관련성을 중심으로- (Some Determinants of Clothing Disposal Behavior -Environmental Attitude, Environmental Behavior, Environmental Information, and Demographic Characteristics-)

  • The purposes of this study was to examine the effects of demographics, environmental attitude, environmental behavior, exposure to environmental information, and motives of clothing disposition on clothing disposal behavior. Data were obtained from questionnaires filled out by 217 women in Taegu and were analyzed by utilizing factor analysis, correlation analysis, and stepwise regression analysis. The results indicated that clothing disposal behavior was influenced by predicted variables such as education, exposure to environmental information, environmental attitude, and environmental behavior. Among predicted variables, the environmental attitude was the most important variable affecting clothing disposal behaivor. However, the proportion of variation in clothing disposal behavior that was explained by predicted variables was relatively low.

한국과 일본여대생의 착의행동 비교 -의복형태별 희망착의행동과 실제착의행동의 관계를 중심으로- (A Comparison of Apparel Behavior between Korean and Japanese Female College Students -Focused on Ideal Clothing and Actual Clothing Behavior-)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare ideal clothing and actual clothing behavior between Korean and Japanese college students. 185 Korean students and 91 Japanese students were used into data analysis from October to December. 2000. The age range was 18 to 28 years. The results were as followed. 1) Japanese students wanted to wear fitted clothing styles with revealing the body, while Koreans wanted to wear not only fitted styles but also relaxed and coved body styles. 2) Korean students wore more loose styles and fitted upper styles and pants than Japanese students. On the other hand, Japanese students wore fitted clothing styles and skirt. 3) Japanese students showed higher correlation between ideal clothing styles and actual clothing styles than Koreans. This means that although Koreans want to wear ideal styles, they don't wear those styles much. 4) Overweight students tended to avoid wearing fitted and revealed body styles, pursuing more loose and coved body styles. This tendency showed stronger to Koreans than Japanese students.

남자대학생의 자기 이미지와 의복행동에 관한 연구 (Self-Image and Clothing Behavior of College Men)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the contents of self-image of college men and to investigate how clothing behavior was influenced by self-image, age, major, and the expenses of clothing. Samples were 342 male students of univer-sity in Seoul. Results of this study were following : 1. Four factors of self-image derived by factor analysis : F. 1‘mature-unmatured’;F. 2‘characteristic-ordinary’; F. 3‘conservative-open’; F. 4‘dominant-submissive’.2. 5 variables of clothing behavior were influenced by real self-image. Fashion was influenced by characteristic, open, dominant image, and the expenses of clothing. The ex-planatory power of the 4 variables was 29.3%. Aesthetics was influenced by characteristic, submissive, conservative image, the expenses of clothing, and age(R2=28.7%). Modesty was influenced by conservative and ordinary im-age(R2=6.5%). Coformity was influenced by ordinary image and the expenses of clothing (R2=5.7%). Comfort was influenced by dominant image and age(R2=5.3%). 3. 5 variables of clothing behavior were influenced by ideal self-image. Fashion was influenced by unmatured, characteristic, sub-missive image, and the expenses of clothing (R2=28.9%). Aesthetics was influenced by characteristic image, the expenses of clothing, and age(R2=23.5%). Modesty was influenced by conservative, mature, and ordinary image (R2=8.3%). Coformity was influenced by ordinary image(R2=1.9%). Comfort was influenced by mature image and age(R2=5.6%). The findings indicated that self-image had a significant effect on fashion and aesthetics, and characteristic image and conservative image were important variables that affected clothing behavior of college men.

자아존중과 의복행동간의 상관연구 -성인 남녀를 대상으로- (A Study on the Relationship between Self-Esteem and Clothing Behavior -For Adult Males and Femalse-)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between self-esteem and demo- graphic variables of adult males and females upon clothing behaviors. The questionnaire were admistered to 249 unmarried females, 202 married females, 228 unmarried males, 179 married males in Pusan. The data was analyzed statisitically using to Pearson's correlation, t-test, Multiple regres-sion. The major findings of this research can be summarized as following; 1. There was significant relationship between the self-esteen and Conformity, Modesty, Management of the clothing behavior subscales. There was significant relationship among the clothing behavior subscales except Interest-Modesty, Conformity-Aesthetics, Conformity- Fashion, Modesty- Psychological dependence and Modesty-Aesthetics. 2. There was significant difference in the self-esteem and all clothing behavior subscales except Conformity according to sex. 3. There was significant difference in Interest, Psychological dependence, Fashion, Conform- ity and Modesty according to marriage status. 4. Sex and school career have significant effect on the self-esteem. Sex have significant effect on Importance, Interest, Modesty, psychological dependence, Aesthetics, Management and Fashion. School career significant effect on Conformity and income effect on Fashion. 5. Sex and school career have significant effect on the self-esteem as intervening variables, the clothing behaviors as dependent variables. Sex, age, school career and income have significant direct effect on the clothing behavior subscales.
