A Study on the Outbuying Behavior of Clothing Products of the Consumers in Local Retail Areas. (중 .소도시 소비자의 비거주지 의류구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influence the outbuying behavior of the consumers reside in middle sized cities adjacent to Kwangju. a metropolitan city of Korea. Data were collected by using questionnaire from 570 female consumers in Suncheon and Yeosu city from 8 September to 16. 1999. Data from 513 respondents were analyzed. Factor analysis. t-text. $x^2$test and cross analysis were used. Respondents were divided by two groups, outbuying group/resident purchasing group, based on the frequency of purchasing and intention of purchasing in local stores. and the differences between two groups were analyzed. The results were as follows : 1. There were significant differences in the residence. levels of education and Income. age. job. automobile possession, numbers of children, clothing expenditure Per month between outbuying group and resident purchasing group(p<.001, respectively) . 2. Outbuying group had significant higher tendency toward pursuing fashionability and pleasure, and symbolism in clothing than resident purchasing group(p<.001. respectively) 3. Outbuying group considered store services. assortments. shopping convenience significantly more important than resident purchasing group(p<.001. respectively) 4. Outbuying group obtained information from media sources and non-media sources significantly more often than resident purchasing group(p<.001, respectively) .

A Study on the Clothing Purchasing Behavior of Elderly Women (노년기 여성의 의복구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • The increasing number of senior citizens, combined with the power of purchasing due to discretionary income have vaulted the elderly into the position of an attractive future target market. Therefore, it would be crucial for marketers to understand elderly's purchasing behavior. The purpose of this study was to identify clothing purchasing behavior of elderly women. For this study, questionnaires were administered to 600 women over 55 years of age. However, the sample that was analyzed fer statistical analysis was involved 418 elderly women. Statistical analysis were majorly descriptives such as frequencies and percentages. The major results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. In relation to problem recognition in purchasing process, motives of purchasing apparel were identified as a happy event in home such as a wedding and a birthday, a change of seasons and a casual discovery of a suitable clothing in shopping, in orders. 2. In relation to information search, important information on apparel and fashionability were thought as display racks in a store, opinion from friends and family and fashionability from others or streets, in orders. 3. In relation to selecting a store in purchasing process, older consumers assessed that attractive price, design suited to my age, variety in one store and apparel product quality were important store attributes, in orders. In terms of a purchase place, older consumers purchased clothing mainly on department stores, wholesale stores such as Namdaemoon or Dongdaemoon market, mainly retail stores located close to home and discount stores of well known brand, in orders. 4. In relation to alternative evaluation in purchasing process, older consumeres considered that style or appearance suited to me, color, design, comfort and fitness were important selection criteria, in orders. 5. In relation to purchase choice, 61.7% of the respondents paid money by themselves and 68.9% paid on cash in purchasing apparel. 6. In relation to outcomes of purchase, older consumers solved their complaint against a unsatisfactory product mainly by returning the unsatisfactory clothing. Also, there were those who took no action against the unsatisfactory product and who altered the clothing for fitness by themselves.

Clothing and Cosmetics Purchasing Behaviors by Gender and Major of University Students (대학생의 성별과 전공에 따른 의복관련 소비행동)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine university students' clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors according to gender and major. For the study, 337 university students living in Chonbuk area participated in this survey research. The data were analyzed utilizing SPSS statistics package. Exploratory factor analysis, reliability test, and t-test were used. Five factors in each clothing and cosmetics purchasing orientation were generated from the factor analysis. According to gender and major, clothing and cosmetics purchasing behavior were significantly different. Female students showed more impulsive, rational, and economical purchasing orientations than male students did. On the contrary, male students showed more independent and convenient purchasing orientations. The students with fashion design major showed higher tendency in impulsive and rational clothing purchasing orientations than non-fashion design major students. Finally, clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors were significantly different by gender and major in terms of information usage and expenditure for clothing and cosmetics.

Segmentation of Middle and High Class Chinese Women in their 20's and 30's based on Clothing Purchasing Motive (의복구매동기에 의한 중국 $20\~30$대 중$\cdot$상류층 여성소비자시장 세분화)

  • The Purposes of this study were to segment Chinese consumers by clothing Purchase motive, and then to analyze and compare the clothing purchasing behavior among the segmented groups. The subjects were 655 career women of middle and high class in their 20's and 30's living in Benjing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Changchun. A total of 655 questionnaires were analyzed by using frequency, mean, factor analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, cluster analysis, and X^2 _ test. The results were as follows: 1. Chinese consumers were segmented into clothing high-involvement group, fashion pursuing group, practicality pursuing group, and characterless group. 2. The clothing purchase behavior variables such as purchasing motive, using informants, clothing selection standards, store selection standards, purchasing place, satisfaction after purchasing clothes, price of purchase, shopping time, shopping companion, and paying method were significantly different among the 4 segmented groups. 3. The demographic variables such as a city, marriage, total monthly income, and average monthly expenditure on clothing were significantly different among the 4 segmented groups.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the differences of internet shopping attitude, shopping behavior, and shopping satisfaction according to purchasing frequency of internet shoppers for children's clothing. Data were collected from 170 female internet users who had purchasing experiences of children's clothing. For data analysis, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test, cross tabulation, regression analysis, t-test, frequency and multi- response analysis were conducted. The results are as follows: The internet shoppers for children's clothing were classified by purchasing frequency. Factors of internet shopping attitude were convenience, reliability, and safety. Significant differences were found on internet usages, internet attitudes, and shopping behaviors between two groups. Heavy purchasers used internet longer, had more positive attitude toward convenience and safety, and paid more money than light purchasers. Significant differences were found on internet attitudes according to age and internet usage. Convenience and safety factors had impact on internet shopping satisfaction.

A Study on Consumer Characteristics, and Clothing Buying Behavior by Clothing Involvement of College Female Students in China (중국 여대생들의 의복관여 수준에 다른 소비자 특성 및 의복구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identity the relationship of clothing involvement, consumer characteristics, and clothing buying behavior of college female students in China. A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing involvement, materialism, conspicuous consumption, reference group influence, clothing purchasing modes, fashion information sources. The questionnaire was administered to 390 college female students in Dandong of china. The data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, factor analysis, and t-test. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Subjects were divided into low clothing involved and high clothing involved groups according to the level of clothing involvement. 2. Three dimensions of materialism were derived by factor analysis such as Happiness-pursuing, Life-centered, and Sucess-symbolic. And three dimensions of conspicuous consumption and reference group influence were derived by factor analysis such as luxury oriented, Status symbolic, Brand-name oriented, and Comparative, Informational, Normative exactly. Clothing purchasing motives and fashion information sources were factor analysed as Social and Individual mole, and Printed & Electric-wave media, Marketer managed, Personal exactly. 3. There were significant differences between high involved and low involved consumers in consumer characteristics and clothing purchasing behavior. The high involved consumers showed more importance than low involved consumers about materialism especially in Happiness-pursuing about conspicuous consumption in status symbolic and about influence of reference group in comparative. The high involved consumers put more importance than low involved consumer individual motive as clothing purchasing motive, and marketer managed in clothing fashion information. The high invoked consumers showed more importance than low invoked consumers about evaluating attributes of product, and about store patronage criterion.

The Effects of Twenties Women's Fashion Color Reception on Clothing Purchase (20대 여성의 유행색 수용도가 의복구매에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study are to examine the relation between twenties women consumer's fashion-color reception and clothing purchase behaviors, and to propose the most effective plans of color-marketing. A questionnaire survey examined 384 persons' opinions in total. First, consumers are classified into 3 groups. according to their preferring colors and the degrees of their concerning : 'type of leading fashion-color', 'type of following fashion-color', and 'type of being indifferent to fashion-color'. Second, this study analyzed the factors of consumers' clothes-purchasing motives. : all consumer groups showed their purchasing motives in the order of 'aesthetic sense'-pursuit factor. 'sensitivity'-pursuit factor, and 'actual profit and sociality'-pursuit factor. Third, the types of consumers' purchasing clothes were divided into 2 groups: type of planned buying. And type of unplanned buying. And the relations between the above 2 groups and purchasing motives were investigated, as a result. it was proved that the consumers who have the purchasing motives of 'sensitivity'-pursuit and 'actual profit and sociality'-pursuit conducted 'planned buying'. Fourth. the relations between motive of clothing purchase and the type of purchase behavior were examined by consumer group : in the consumer group of leading fashion-color, the more did they have the purchasing motives of 'sensitivity'-pursuit or 'actual profit and sociality'-pursuit, the more did they conduct' planned buying'. In the fashion-color following group, the more did they have the purchasing motives of 'sensitivity'-pursuit or 'actual profit and sociality'-pursuit, the more did they conduct 'unplanned buying'.

A Study on Clothing Shopping Orientation and Cloghin Buying Behavior of female workers (직장여성의 쇼핑성향과 의복구매특성에 관한 연구 - 전라남도 여교사를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the demographics and general clothing buying behavior according to clothing shopping orientation of female workers. A questionnaire was developed to measure clothing shopping orientation, fashion information sources, stores selection criteria, clothing purchasing frequency of a year, purchasing expenditure of clothing, the demographics. The questionnaire was administered to 775 female teacher in Chonnam. The data was analyzed using percentage, frequency, mean, factor analysis, Cluster Analysis, $\chi^2$-_test and ANOVA, Duncan test. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The female teachers were classified into four groups by the cluster analysis; indifferent shopping group, rational shopping group, conspicuous shopping group, recreational shopping group. 2. In the case of fashion information sources, significant differences were found according to shopping orientation subdivision in mass media information, information by consumer, information by marketer. 3. The stores selection criteria were significantly different depending on shopping orientation subdivision in goods and atmosphere of shop, promotion, convenience of shop's location. 4. The clothing purchasing frequency of a year were significantly different depending on shopping orientation subdivision. 5. The significant differences were found according to shopping orientation subdivision in purchasing expenditure of clothing. 7. In the demographic characteristics, significant differences were found according to shopping orientation subdivision in age, marriage, the length of one's work, income.

A Study on Middle Aged Male Consumer' Clothing and Cosmetics Purchasing Behaviors according to Objectified Body Consciousness (중년 남성 소비자의 객체화 신체의식에 따른 의복 및 화장품 구매행동 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors of middle aged male consumers according to objectified body consciousness. The subjects were 329 male adults aged from 40 to 59, and measuring instruments consisted of objectified body consciousness, clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors, and subjects' demographics attributions. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, multiple response analysis, cross tabs analysis, and $x^2$ test using the SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, three factors (body shame, body surveillance, and control belief) emerged on objectified body consciousness. Second, subjects were divided into 2 groups (objectified group and non-objectified group) by objectified body consciousness. Third, these two consumer groups showed many differences regarding clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors. The objectified group showed many more positive clothing and cosmetics purchasing behaviors than the non-objectified group in terms of purchase motives, selection criteria, information source, purchase place, and purchase cost per month. These results show that objectified body consciousness is a useful variable for understanding adult male clothing and cosmetics purchasing behavior and to segment the male consumer market effectively.

Clothing Purchasing Behavior and Clothing Dissatisfaction of the Aged Women in Korea (한국 노인여성들의 의복구매행동과 의복불만)

  • Though the growth rate of the population of aged people in Korea is rapidly rising, research about this age group is relatively scarce compared to those about younger groups. This paper aimed to survey the clothing purchasing behaviors and clothing dissatisfaction of the aged women in Korea. A questionnaire concerning demographic status, clothing purchasing behaviors and clothing dissatisfactions was administered to 430 aged women residing in Seoul. Results showed that the aged women are as much well-planning, logical, and consumer-right-conscious purchasers as they are aesthetically demanding. 9 factors including product quality, design, sales service qualities revealed to be important factors explaining their dissatisfaction. But the strongest clothing dissatisfactions of the aged women were found to be those factors related to high price, lack of exclusive merchandising practices for the aged, and difficulty in the handling of clothing items. Their age and income status had partial influence on their purchasing behaviors and clothing dissatisfaction.
