  • It is known that a right nilpotent congruence $\beta$ on a finite algebra A is also left nilpotent [3]. The question on whether the left nilpotency class of $\beta$ in less than or equal to the right nilpotency class of $\beta$is still open. In this paper we find an upper limit for the left nilpotency class of $\beta$. In addition, under the assumption that 1 $\in$ typ{A}, we show that $(\beta]^k=[\beta)^k$ for all k$\geq$1. Thus the left and right nilpotency classes of $\beta$ are the same in this case.

  • The primary cilium is a non-motile microtubule-based organelle that protrudes from the surface of most human cells and works as a cellular antenna to accept extracellular signals. Primary cilia assemble from the basal body during the resting stage ($G_0$ phase) and simultaneously disassemble with cell cycle re-entry. Defective control of assembly or disassembly causes diverse human diseases including ciliopathy and cancer. To identify the effective compounds for studying primary cilium disassembly, we have screened 297 natural compounds and identified 18 and 17 primary cilium assembly and disassembly inhibitors, respectively. Among them, the application of KY-0120, identified as Brefeldin A, disturbed Dvl2-Plk1-mediated cilium disassembly via repression of the interaction of $CK1{\varepsilon}-Dvl2$ and the expression of Plk1 mRNA. Therefore, our study may suggest useful compounds for studying the cellular mechanism of primary cilium disassembly to prevent ciliopathy and cancer.

  • An international study on Class B AIS for Non-SOLAS vessels is in progress through IMO and IEC. The IEC issued CDV(Committee Draft for Vote) on March 3, 2005, as IEC 62287, which includes operational and performance requirements, methods of test and required test results about Class B AIS. In this paper, we proposed the method of making Class B AIS properly onboard. This research deals with the problems of introducing Class B AIS which is properly applicable on small fishing vessels as well as domestic Non-SOLAS vessels. Moreover, several technical considerations were suggested to develop a national technical standards for Class B AIS.

  • The current research aims to verify whether distance learning can be adopted in practical cooking class for Korean foods in a two-year college. The distance learning education can be a supplementary method to the traditional cooking class. The face-to-face teaching method and the distance learning method were compared in order to determine which of the one is more effective teaching method in the practical cooking class. The results of the present experimental study were analyzed based on the participant's learning expectation and satisfaction, the evaluation of the experimental process, and the academic performance. The results of this study showed that the participants in the face-to-face class evaluated their class experience higher than those in the distance learning class with respect to the participant's learning expectation and satisfaction, and the evaluation of the experimental process. On the contrary, regarding the academic performance, the participants in the distance learning class showed higher scores than those in the face-to-face class. The end result supports the claim that the distance learning method is more effective in the participants for gaining cooking knowledge.

  • In this paper, highly efficient class-F power amplifiers(PAs) with harmonic-controlling transmission lines(TLs) were built for cellular and WLAN applications at 840 MHz and 2.4 GHz each. Also, based on these single-band PAs, a dualband class-F PA was designed after a careful investigation into the harmonics of the two frequencies. The harmonic-controlling TL was designed for the class-F operation at dualband by switching the length of the shunt $\lambda$/4 TL part, while the series $\lambda$/4 TL is optimized for both frequencies. To verify the performance, two class-F PAs optimized at each frequency and a dualband class-F PA at the corresponding frequencies were built with the secondand the third-harmonic control circuits at each frequencies. As a result, the PA#1 at 840 MHz has a peak drain efficiency of 81.2 % with an output power of 24.4 dBm, while the PA#2 at 2.35 GHz shows a drain efficiency of 94.5 % with an output of 22.8 dBm. Finally, the dualband class-F PA#3 showed 60.5 % and 50.9 % drain efficiencies at 840 MHz and 2.4 GHz, with powers of 23.8 dBm and 19.62 dBm, respectively.

  • Purpose: This study evaluated and compared interradicular distances and cortical bone thickness in Thai patients with Class I and Class II skeletal patterns, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Materials and Methods: Pretreatment CBCT images of 24 Thai orthodontic patients with Class I and Class II skeletal patterns were included in the study. Three measurements were chosen for investigation: the mesiodistal distance between the roots, the width of the buccolingual alveolar process, and buccal cortical bone thickness. All distances were recorded at five different levels from the cementoenamel junction (CEJ). Descriptive statistical analysis and t-tests were performed, with the significance level for all tests set at p<0.05. Results: Patients with a Class II skeletal pattern showed significantly greater maxillary mesiodistal distances (between the first and second premolars) and widths of the buccolingual alveolar process (between the first and second molars) than Class I skeletal pattern patients at 10 mm above the CEJ. The maxillary buccal cortical bone thicknesses between the second premolar and first molar at 8 mm above the CEJ in Class II patients were likewise significantly greater than in Class I patients. Patients with a Class I skeletal pattern showed significantly wider mandibular buccolingual alveolar processes than did Class II patients (between the first and second molars) at 4, 6, and 8 mm below the CEJ. Conclusion: In both the maxilla and mandible, the mesiodistal distances, the width of the buccolingual alveolar process, and buccal cortical bone thickness tended to increase from the CEJ to the apex in both Class I and Class II skeletal patterns.

  • In the object-oriented software development, redesigning of classes and reorganizing of class hierarchy structures should be necessary to reduce many of the headaches of object-oriented software design and maintenance. To support this task, in this paper, we propose a theoretical foundation for class hierarchy reorganizations that is relatively complete, correct, formal and easy to understand and use. We introduce the flattened class hierarchy that characterizes the class hierarchy structures in object-oriented software evolution. And we also present an algorithm which transforms a given class hierarchy into the normalized form. The flattened class hierarchy helps us map the inheritance and aggregation paths in a class hierarchy to paths in an object hierarchy that is an instance of the class hierarchy. By applying the algorithm into a given class hierarchy, we can make a new, object-preserved, and flattened class hierarchy that is the cornerstone for reorganization of class hierarchy structure and plays an important role as a bridge on the incremental evolutionary changes and reuse of object-oriented software to reorganize class hierarchies.

  • A new class of life distributions is studied. This class is defined based on comparing the residual life to the whole life in the moment generating function order giving "the new better than used in the moment generating function order ageing class ($NBU_{mgf}$)". Some new results of this class are given including some closere properties and characterizations. Finally testing exponentially against the $NBU_{mgf}$ class is also addressed.

  • In this paper, we readdress a layout design problem, PTL[3], for determining an optimal 3-class-based dedicated linear storage layout in a class of unit load storage systems. Based on some fundamental properties derived, we provide a converging exact algorithm with O(n[logn]), which is more efficient than that of Yang and Kim [8] and can be applied to PTL[K] with $K{\ge}4$ in order to reduce computational execution time. In addition, we prove that the necessary condition suggested by them is also a sufficient condition to PTL[3].

  • The within-class variance of Otsu's method is moderate but improper in expressing class statistical distributions. Otsu's method uses a variance to represent the distribution of each class. The variance utilizes a distance square from the mean to a data. This process is not proper in denoting a real class statistical distribution because of the distance square. In this paper, to express more exact class statistical distributions, the within-class standard deviation as a criterion for threshold selection is proposed and then the optimal threshold is determined by minimizing it. In order to have validity, it is shown through the experimental results that the proposed method was more superior to the counterparts.
