3, 5세 유아의 실행기능과 언어능력의 관계 (Relationship between Preschoolers' Executive Function and Verbal Ability)

  • The aims of this study are to investigate the differences of the preschoolers' executive function and verbal ability according to their age, and to identify whether the preschoolers' executive function is related to their verbal ability. The participants in this study are 151 children, ages 3-and 5-years old from five child-care centers located in a middle-income region of Seoul. Statistical methods used for the data analysis are the frequencies, means, standard deviations, an independent t-test, and Pearson correlation. The major findings are as follows. First, an age difference is found for children's executive function. The 5-year-olds are more likely to succeed on tasks of executive function than the 3-year-olds. Also, age difference is found for children's verbal ability. The 5-year-olds perform better on tests of verbal ability than the 3-year-olds. Last, the 3-year-olds' and 5-year-olds' executive function is related to their verbal ability. Inhibition and cognitive flexibility are significantly correlated with verbal ability. These results suggest that preschoolers' executive function and verbal ability develop during preschool age. These results also suggest that preschoolers' executive function is related to their verbal ability.

유아의 수학학습능력 및 수학학습잠재력에 영향을 미치는 제 변인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Teaching-Learning Methods according to Personal Variables in the Dynamic Assessment of Young Children's Mathematical Learning Abilities)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing their mathematical learning abilities and mathematical learning potential in an attempt to assist their learning at the preschool level. The findings of the study were as follows : First. the female children performed at a much higher level than their male counterparts in terms of mathematical learning ability and mathematical learning potential training. The young children generally improved in their mathematical learning abilities and mathematical learning potential with age. Second, it was found that the participants had higher levels of both mathematical learning ability and mathematical learning potential when their mathematical attitudes and learning motivation were better. Third, there were significant differences in terms training-test and transfer-test scores between the 4 groups based on their relative levels of mathematical abilities and attitudes.

베트남 출신 결혼이주여성들의 이중민족사회화: 위계의 교차가 만들어내는 다섯 가지 실천 유형 (Bi-ethnic Socialization of Marriage Migrant Women from Vietnam: The Five Practices at the Intersection of Hierarchies)

  • This paper explored the marriage migrant mothers' experiences of parenting bi-ethnic children in South Korea based on the concepts of ethnic socialization and intersectionality. We analyzed in-depth interviews of 22 marriage migrant women from Vietnam residing in the capital region of South Korea. They had at least one child whose biological father is Korean. Children were 5 years old or older, attending preschool or elementary school. Five types of bi-ethnic socialization strategies were identified, which provide portraits of different situations in which marriage migrant women were placed. The five strategies that emerged from the data were 1) "Natural practice of bi-ethnic socialization" including two heterogeneous groups, "Coexistence of two cultures" and "Mixture of two cultures", 2) "Active practice of bi-ethnic socialization", 3) "Struggling practice of bi-ethnic socialization", 4) "Silence on bi-ethnic socialization", and 5) "Suppressed bi-ethnic socialization". The strategies of bi-ethnic socialization that marriage migrant women chose to raise their children reflected personal perceptions of Korean society and individual ethnic identity formed within Korean society. This study complements existing research on ethnic socialization by examining how ethnic socialization practices are shaped by multiple contexts marriage migrant women embedded in Korean society.

미숙아로 출생한 학령전기 아동의 비만도 측정과 관련 특성 (Adiposity Measurements and Related Characteristics of Young Children Born Prematurely)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to measure adiposity and to investigate related factors in preschoolers born prematurely. Methods: A longitudinal follow-up study was conducted with 52 preschoolers at 5 years of corrected age among 343 preterm infants. Their adiposity status was evaluated based on measurements of body mass index, subscapular and triceps skin fold thickness (SFT), waist circumference, waist-to-height ratio, and mid-arm circumference at a home visit. Results: The findings showed that SFT measurements, particularly at the triceps, reflected the degree of adiposity more accurately than other conventional measures. A shorter gestation, older maternal age, and the mother having more years of formal education were associated with higher levels of adiposity in the preschoolers. Conclusion: The adiposity of children born prematurely needs to be thoroughly monitored with additional SFT measurements, considering the risk of accelerated growth patterns overriding regular catch-up growth in children born prematurely.

미국 조기헤드스타트의 문헌고찰을 통한 한국의 영아보육에 관한 연구 (Implications of American Early Head Start for the Korean Infant/toddler Care System)

  • Early Head Start (EHS) can provide services to a child and family from pre-birth until the child is three years old. Services are comprehensive, intensive, individualized and flexible according to child and family needs, and integrated with community service delivery systems. The local program designs and operations were developed and carried out within the framework of the Head Start Revised Performance Standards, which included specific provisions for services to pregnant women, infants and toddlers and emphasized prevention, early intervention, safety, and health education. As with preschool Head Start, EHS programs are required to make available 10 percent of their enrollment for infants and toddlers with disabilities as defined by Part C regulations of the state in which the program operated. Quality child care has become a priority for EHS. A majority of EHS children need child care, and the quality is important to their development. An evaluation of EHS in 17 programs selected from the first program cohorts showed that the program had significant and positive impacts on a wide range of parent and child dimensions, some with implications for children's later school success. Among the issues for policy attention identified by American EHS for the Korean system are: - The need to create a comprehensive infant/toddler care system - The need to address access of teachers for young children - The need to improve quality.

연령과 성에 따른 음운인식 탈락과제 수행력 : 학령전기 아동을 위한 음운인식 선별검사 개발 (Performance in a phonological deletion awareness task according to age and gender : Development of a phonological awareness screening test for preschool children)

  • Phonological awareness, or consciousness of speech sounds and operational skill with them, develops in the order word > syllable > phoneme, over the ages of four to seven. Among the various types of phonological awareness tasks, the deletion task has a higher level of difficulty because it requires operation and deletion of sounds within words. This task also has a high correlation with reading proficiency. This study utilized a deletion task with 20 questions to see how operational development depended on age and gender. The deletion task, with 20 questions, was tested on four- to six-year old children developing normally (N = 90). The results showed that phonological awareness performance improved with age. This age effect was not accompanied by a gender effect; age and gender interacted. The study confirmed the development of phonological awareness in four- to six-year-old children who were developing normally. The deletion task can be used to effectively detect the risk of difficulties with phonological awareness in preschoolers with speech, language, and reading problems.

행복한 수업을 찾아가는 유아교사의 이야기 (A Narrative Approach to Helping an Early Childhood Children Teacher Achieve Greater Happiness in their Classes)

  • This study is designed to positively transform a teacher's emotional state whilst teaching their classes and be able to create happier lessons for preschool children. To do this, a teacher needs to reflect upon current problems and take steps to deal with them. The data for this study was collected from participatory observation and in-depth interviews, making use of photos, a reflective teacher's journal and interview records from Mar. 28, 2011 through Oct. 7, 2011. The problems identified were, (1) teacher centered classes, (2) a daily routine filled with large group activities, (3) disruptive students, and (4) repetitiveness. The routes to greater classroom "happiness" are (1) rearranging seats, (2) "story sharing activities" in small groups, (3) making a separate "story sharing activity" area, (4) using small groups instead of large groups, (5) changing the daily routine. The role of the teacher in finding greater "happiness" are (1) meaningful, 'real observation', (2) discovering genuine change from small points, (3) power sharing, and (4) growing and developing with children.

안전교육 경험과 안전교육 실천에 관한 연구 (Study on Experience and Practice of Safety Education)

  • This study is about safety education experience and practice of parents who are raising preschool children and the study results are as the following. For safety education experience state, parents had experience of safety education and mostly received it through communities, TV, Internet, etc. The most common educational content was the traffic safety education. For safety education practice degree according to number of children, safety education practice was mostly done well with 1~2 children. For safety education practice degree according to family type, safety education practice degree within the family was done most in nuclear families while healthy life habit safety education practice degree was done most in nuclear families and reconstituted families. Also, for traffic safety education practice degree, it was done well in nuclear families. For respiratory disease safety education practice degree, nuclear families and reconstituted families were the highest and for first aid safety education practice degree, single-parent families were the highest. For safety knowledge level of parents, safety knowledge of family was the highest, followed by safety knowledge of respiratory disease, and traffic. For safety education practice degree and safety knowledge according to safety education experience of parents, there was a significant difference in practice degree according to safety education experience of parents and there was also difference in practice knowledge according to experience. There was also education effect in healthy life habit safety knowledge and traffic safety knowledge.

익산지역 유치원 아동의 이중치와 결손치의 발생빈도에 관한 조사 연구 (THE PREVALENCE OF DOUBLE TEETH AND CONGENITAL MISSING TEETH IN PRESCHOOL CHILDREN OF IKSAN CITY)

  • 이중치는 쌍생치와 융합을 포함한다. 선천적인 결손치는 치아가 하나이상 없는 상태를 의미한다. 이 연구의 목적은 익산시 유치원 어린이에서의 이중치와 선천적 결손치의 유병율을 조사하는 것이다. 조사 인원은 569명의 남아와 462명의 여아로 1,031명의 어린이를 대상으로 하였으며 연령은 17개월에서 84개월의 연령이내였다. 이중치는 다양한 진단학적 치료적 문제를 가진다. 쌍생치는 하나의 치배가 두개의 치관을 형성하는 것으로 정의되며 임상적으로 동일한 두 개의 치관이 나뉘어져 거울상(mirror image)으로 보이게 된다. 융합치는 두 개의 치배가 합쳐져서 형성된 것으로 물리적인 힘이나 압력이 두 개의 정상적으로 분리된 치배를 접촉시켜 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 융합은 두개의 정상치아 사이에서 나타나거나 혹은 정상치아와 과잉치 사이에서 나타나는데 후자의 경우 쌍생치와 구별하기 힘들다. 1,031명중 23명(11명의 남아, 12명의 여아)이 이중치를 보이고 17명(8명 남아, 9명 여아)은 선천적 결손치를 보였다. 이중치의 유병율은 2.2%였다. 선천적 결손치의 유병율은 1.6%였다. 피검자중 1명은 이중치와 결손치를 가지고 있었다. 유치열기의 이중치와 선천적 결손치에서 모두 남녀간에 통계학적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다(p>0.05).

식품알레르기 유경험 미취학아동 양육자의 지식 및 식사관리에 대한 연구 (Knowledge and management of food allergy by parents of preschool children who experience food allergies)

  • 본 연구는 식품알레르기 경험이 있는 미취학아동의 양육자를 대상으로 양육자가 식품알레르기 관리를 위해 필요한 교육이 무엇인지 파악하고자 하였다. 양육자 400명을 대상으로 2022년 7월 온라인 업체를 통해 설문조사를 진행하였으며, 모든 데이터는 SPSS 통계 (ver. 25)를 사용하여 분석되었다. 미취학아동의 식품알레르기 경험에도 불구하고 양육자의 식품알레르기 지식수준은 낮았다. 특히 '원인식품' (74.2%)과 '식품반응' (65.2%) 관련된 문항의 오답률이 높았다. 또한, 식품알레르기 지식수준을 '상', '중', '하'로 구분하여 평가한 결과 미취학아동의 연령에 따라 아동의 나이가 어릴수록 지식수준이 유의하게 높았다 (p < 0.05). 양육자의 식품알레르기 관리여부를 4가지 문항으로 측정한 결과, '식재료 및 조리기기 분리사용' (50.5%), '식품알레르기 유발표시 확인' (34.0%) 관리율이 낮았다. 식품알레기 진단여부에 따라 식재료 및 조리기기를 분리사용 관리에 유의적인 차이가 있었으며, 의사진단을 받은 미취학아동의 양육자 중 59.4%가 분리사용 관리를 하고 있었다 (p < 0.01). 또한, 식품알레르기 지식이 높아질수록 관리의 총점이 높아졌다 (r = 0.137, p < 0.01). 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 살펴볼 때 지식수준이 낮거나, 자녀가 만 4세 이상, 자가진단을 하는 양육자의 경우 식품알레르기 관리율이 낮았다. 따라서 해당 양육자의 지식수준을 높일 수 있는 '유발식품제한', '식품알레르기 유발표시 확인', '식재료 및 조리기기 분리사용' 하는 방법 등 맞춤 교육이 필요하다고 사료된다.
