The Carved Buddhist Triad on Rock-cliff in Sinarnri (Treasure No. 680) consists of biotite granodiorite, which were positively carved on fore and west planes of four subvertical cliffs by two joint sets of NE-SW and NNW-SSE directions. The cliffs are $N50^{\circ}E\;85^{\circ}SE$ in fore plane, $N25^{\circ}W\;90^{\circ}$ in west plane, $N40{\sim}50^{\circ}E\; 82{\sim}85^{\circ}NW$, back plane, $N20^{\circ}W\;75^{\circ}SW$ in east plane, which are parallel to two joint sets of NE-SW and NNW-SSE directions in geology around it. The chemical index of alteration ranges 60.3 to 62.0 from the major elements in the rock that was weathered into producing kaolin minerals from alteration of feldspars and biotite. The Buddhist image has been deteriorated into joints, brown rusts, discolorations and granular disintegrations by such deterioration causes as deformation, moisture, temperature variation and microorganic living. The moisture, which leaks from groundwater in the rock, dissolve to decompose minerals.
Mafic microgranular enclaves (MME) occur in the granites from the Bohyunsan area. The host granites are generally of granodioritic and granitic compositions. The MME can be divided into magic mineral clusters, quartz diorite and diorite according to their occurrence. Halter variation diagrams show linear trends between the MME and the host granites. Though the rim compositions of plagioclase in the host granites and the MME are similar the core compositions of plagioclase in some host granites show abnormally high An content. The Mg/(Mg+Fe) ratio of hornblende in the host granites gradually increase from the core to the rim. The chemical composition of minerals in the host granites had been affected by more marc magma composition. The modelling of major elements of the MME and hybrid host granites also indicate that they result from simple mingling/mixing between a dioritic magma and the host granite magma. The MME are thus interpreted to be globules of a more mafic magma which intruded the granite magma. Partial equilibration has been achieved between the MME and the host granites after they were commingled with each other.

The cooling process referred to as Tempcore has been applied to produce a high-strength rebar. Excellent rebar with strength and weldability can be manufactured from mild steel without the addition of alloying elements by using the Tempcore process. However, there are limitations to evaluating the effect of various chemical compositions and cooling conditions within a site facility. In this study, we developed an apparatus to simulate the Tempcore process and obtained microstructures with a hardened surface layer, an intermediate region and a soft inner core. The experimental apparatus has been equipped with a cooler set that is the same as the site facility and consists of a pump line that supplies pressure of 12-13 bar and flow rate of up to $50m^3/h$. In accordance with the simulation result of steel grade SD400 that requires more than 400 MPa of yield strength, both the hardened area ratio and the hardness with respect to each cooling depth were found to agree well with the product.

It was proven that rice straw can serve can serve as a good support medium for trickling filter with livestock wastewater treatment. The efficiency of removal of removal of environmentally undesirable components from the wastewater by the straw medium was no less inferior to other commonly used support materials. The treated straw was also proven to be a source of abundant plant nutrients. The growth of orchard grass was enhanced greatly by the application of large quantity of the support medium. A maximum yield of dry matter was obtained at the rate of 40 ton/ha. Inorganic NPK elements as background fertilizers were highly recommended for better development in an early stage of growth. The nutritional status of the soil was very much improved by the addition of the medium in terms of exchangeable cations(K, Ca, Mg and Na), available phosphate, and organic matter contents. Nutrient uptake by orchard grass such as N, P and cations was enhanced by rice straw medium treatment and that was proportional to the levels of treatment.
Silicon trench etching has been carried out using a magnetically enhanced reactive ion etching system in HBr plasma containing He-$O_2$, $CF_4$. The changes of etch rate and etch profile, the degree of residue formation, and the change of surface chemical state were investigated as a function of additive gas flow rate. A severe lateral etching was observed when pure HBr plasma was used to etch the silicon, resulted in a pot shaped trench. When He-$O_2$, $SiF_4$ additives were added to HBr plasma, the lateral etching was almost eliminated and a better trench etch profile was obtained. The surface etched in HBr/He-$O_2/SiF_4$ plasma showed relatively low contamination and residue elements compared to the surface etched in HBr/He-$O-2/CF_4$plasma. In addition, the etching characteristics including low residue formation and chemically clean etched surface were obtained by using HBr containing He-$O_2$ or $SiF_4$ additive gases instead of $CF_4$ gas, which were confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
To establish the fertilization condition to increase the productivity of Chasanthemum boreale M. with high quality, the effects of three nutrients (N, P, K) on the yields and the effective components were investigated in the pot scale. NPK was applied by chemical fertilizers with $(N-P_2O_5,-K_2O=250-160-160\;kg/ha)$ as a main treatment, and NP $(N-P_2O_5,-K_2O=250-160-160\;kg/ha)$, NK $(N-K_2O =250-160\;kg/ha)$, and PK $(P_2O_5K_2O=160-160\;kg/ha)$ treatments were settled as comparison. Dry yields of C. boreale M. was increased significantly to 4 fold higher by nitrogen. Nitrogen increased apparently plant growth and inorganic nutrient uptake. In the flower, which is most useful and edible part as a herbal medicine, main amino acids were glutamic acid and aspartic acids, and the total content was increased significantly by three elements of application. In addition, the content of cumambrin A, which is known to have the effect of blood-pressure reduction, was increased source to 6.2 times by nitrogen higher than that in PK treatment. Potassium was more effective in biosynthesis of cumambrin A than phosphorus, but the biological pathway was not clear, still.
The $HCO^+$ 1-0 transition line was observed toward the Sgr B2 region in our Galactic center. We found that there exist two large-scale velocity structures of $v_{lsr}\;{\sim}50\;and\;{\sim}100kms^{-1}$, which are thought to interact with each other. A new gas clump 'OF28 Cloud'('Odenwald & Fazio FIR 38' Cloud), showing different chemical and kinematical properties with the Sgr B2(M) cloud, was found in the $50kms^{-1}$ gas component. Toward the core of this component, we derive the $HCO^+$ total column density, $N(HCO^+)=(2-5){\times}10^{14}cm^{-2}$ and the mass $M=1{\times}10^6M_{\odot}$, by estimating its size, ${\sim}15pc$, from the half-power width of this component. We also found that there is a highly turbulent component in this region in the velocity range of about $100kms^{-1}$. The column density of this component is $N(HCO^+)=1{\times}10^{13}cm^{-2}$. The $HCO^+$ in this region may form effectively by the reaction between $C^+$ and OH, which are the elements whose abundances increase rapidly in shocked region.

Isoelectric solubilization/precipitation (ISP) processing allows selective, pH-induced water solubility of proteins with concurrent separation of lipids and removal of materials not intended for human consumption such as bone, scales, skin, etc. Recovered proteins retain functional properties and nutritional value. Four roe protein isolates (RPIs) from yellowfin tuna roe were prepared under different solubilization and precipitation condition (pH 11/4.5, pH 11/5.5, pH 12/4.5 and pH 12/5.5). RPIs contained 2.3-5.0 % moisture, 79.1-87.8 % protein, 5.6-7. 4 % lipid and 3.0-3.8 % ash. Protein content of RPI-1 and RPI-2 precipitated at pH 4.5 and 5.5 after alkaline solubilization at pH 11, was higher than those of RPI-3 and RPI-4 after alkaline solubilization at pH 12 (P < 0.05). Lipid content (5.6-7.4 %) of RPIs was lower than that of freeze-dried concentrate (10.6 %). And leucine and lysine of RPIs were the most abundant amino acids (8.8-9.4 and 8.5-8.9 g/100 g protein, respectively). S, Na, P, K as minerals were the major elements in RPIs. SDS-PAGE of RPIs showed bands at 100, 45, 25 and 15 K. Moisture and protein contents of process water as a 2'nd byproduct were 98.9-99.0 and 1.3-1.8 %, respectively. Therefore, yellowfin tuna roe isolate could be a promising source of valuable nutrients for human food and animal feeds.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the objects excavated from the archaeological site of the Nogye Village in terms of their relationships with the iron production facilities such as 1ho smithing hearth and 2ho smelting furnace. 32 samples including slags, iron ores, and wall were analyzed to identify the mineralogical and chemical characterization. In addition, in the case of the 1ho smithing hearth slag, differing points of the cross-section were analyzed to examine its formation in depth. The analysis results suggest that the slags from the each site adjacent to the 1ho smithing hearth and 2ho furnace are related to smithing and smelting process respectively. Furthermore, it is possible to draw some conclusions that the aspects of the increased contents of nonferrous elements such as CaO in the slags in comparison with those of the iron ores are due to various factors such as charcoal ash and analytical reasons rather than an addition of CaO as flux.
This study is aimed to investigate the provenance of raw materials and firing temperature of jar coffins excavated from the Oryang-dong kiln site and Jeonchon tomb site, Naju, Korea. Most of jar coffin samples shows same range of magnetic susceptibility and have gray color, while 404 and 405 of Jeongchon site are reddish yellow. In some samples fired at high temperature, the water absorption at the mouth rim and body part of same jar coffin were 3.50% and 7.56% respectively. It means that heat transfer and equilibrium in the kiln was not properly continued and the heat energy transferred to the mouth rim and the body part was different. In the petrographic analysis, As a tempering materials, biotite, weathered quartz and feldspar were added in the jar coffins of Oryang-dong site, and biotite, polycrystalline quartz and feldspar in it of Jeongchon site. Tempering materials were found more in the body than in the mouth rim of same jar coffin of Oryang-dong site. It seemed that some samples were fired at over 1,000 to $1,100^{\circ}C$, which showed vitrified texture in the scanning electron images and the rest of samples were fired at below $900^{\circ}C$. Due to similarity of chemical compositions, it is estimated that jar coffins of Jeongchon tomb were produced and supplied from Oryang-dong kiln site. However, the slight difference of some trace elements distribution of samples is attributed to the selection of clay depending on the location.
