  • Silica nanoparticles were synthesized with various silane coupling agents to make specific pathway of electrons and anti-recombination system when solidifying liquid electrolytes. In this study, we used an appropriate method of synthesis for activated silica nanoparticles and silane coupling agents with 3-(triethoxysilyl)propionitrile, Trimethoxy[3-(methylamino)propyl]silane, Triethoxyoctylsilane, and octadecyltrimethoxy silane. Dye-sensitized solar cells using solidified electrolytes with silica nanoparticles exhibit comparatively excellent efficiency, ranging from 2.3 to 7.0% under similar conditions.

  • Through quantum chemical means, we inspect the energetics of the singlet oxygen formation with fluorescent proteins in their triplet excited states. By placing an oxygen molecule at varying distances, we discover that the energetic driving force for the singlet oxygen formation does not depend strongly on the chromophore $-O_2$ distance. We also observe that the chromophore vibrations contribute much to the energy gap modulation toward the surface crossing. Based on our computational results, we try to draw a series of rationalizations of different photostabilities of different fluorescent proteins. Most prominently, we argue that the chance of encountering a surface crossing point is higher with a protein with a lower photostability.

  • With the advent of the internet era, web-based virtual training system is gaining its importance in recent years. Because of the fact that the training can take place in any place and at any time, the virtual system is now replacing many of the conventional off-line classes. Hardware environments such as communication bandwidth and computer performance gets fast enough to accommodate the virtual education. Based on the observations on current virtual training system, this paper proposes three critical design rules required when developing a new virtual training system: i) With conceptual mapping, the menu hierarchy can be organized in a clear-cut manner, ii) Extensive use of multimedia tools can help students keep their attention to the lecture materials, and iii) Provision of interaction mechanisms helps students to gain their identity and motivation.

  • The study examines the performance and its relationship with capital structure and agency cost with respect to the industrial configurations and economic groups of Pakistan Economy. The study employs data set of 334 listed joint stock companies from the nonfinancial sectors for the period of 1999-2009 from cotton and textile, engineering, chemical, sugar, cement, fuel and energy, paper and board, transport and communication, and miscellaneous economic groups. Pooled data from the Panel data methodology has been applied to observe the significance of different performance measures through determinant of capital structure and agency costs with special focus on the leverage and cash flows as the direct determinant and interactive variables. The empirical test results using redundant variable tests demonstrate support for agency theory in the context of Pakistan's industrial configurations. The implications of the study point towards more investigations on the subject using industrial configurations as control and moderating variables.

  • A comparative study of bile acid components from four lamprey species revealed that mature male chestnut lamprey Ichthyomyzon castaneus can produce 3 keto petromyzonol sulfate (3kPZS) while mature males of Pacific lamprey Lampetra tridentata, river lamprey Lampetra fluviatilis and American brook lamprey Lethenteron appendix produce petromyzonol sulfate (PZS). Identification of 3kPZS from a group of ancient lamprey species and of PZS from recently derived species led to a speculation that differentiation of bile acid biosynthetic systems has taken place during the course of evolution. Further studies on the biological functions of different bile acids in the adult lampreys are required to understand the evolution of chemical communication in lampreys.

  • The protection system of the nuclear reactor and chemical reactor are representative of PPC(Plant Protection Controller). This PPC must be designed based on reliability as well as concept of safety, which is a failed system go a way of safe. PPC is consist of part of data acquisition, calculator, communication with redundancy, and a voter is important factor of reliability. Because it is serial connected. This paper presents a Design and Analysis of a Voting Mechanism considering Safety for NMR PPC Using EPLD. In the case of digital implementation a coincidence logic(voter) of PPC, it needs CPU and memory, so increase a number of units. Therefore the failure rate and cost is increased. On the contrary when it is designed EPLD or FPGA.

  • Azo dyes containing effluents from different industries pose threats to the environment. Though there are physico-chemical methods to treat such effluents, bioremediation is considered to be the best eco-compatible technique. In this communication, we discuss the decolorization potentiality of five azo dyes by Podoscypha elegans (G. Mey.) Pat., a macro-fungus, found growing on the leaf-litter layer of Bethuadahari Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bengal, India. The fungus exhibited high laccase and very low manganese peroxidase activities under different culture conditions. Decolorization of five high-molecular weight azo dyes, viz., Orange G, Congo Red, Direct Blue 15, Rose Bengal and Direct Yellow 27 by the fungus was found to be positive in all cases. Maximum and minimum mean decolorization percentages were recorded in Rose Bengal (70.41%) and Direct Blue 15 (24.8%), respectively. This is the first record of lignolytic study and dye decolorization by P. elegans.

  • The SiOC films were deposited with the variation of flow rate ratios by chemical vapor deposition. It was researched the reason of decreasing the dielectric constant in SiOC film and the relationship between the dielectric constant and the thickness. The thickness of the deposited films tends to in proportion to the refractive index and the sample with the lowest dielectric constant decreased the thickness. The refractive index was decreased after annealing because of the decreasing of the film's thickness by annealing process.

  • Database as a supporting system for decision-making is one of essential parts for realizing precision farming. Application models on constructing a database for precision farming, including collection of spatial and attribute data, were suggested using a GPS, DXF files, AutoCAD, a Java application program and PostgreSQL DBMS in this study. The constructed spatial database based on the schema design of spatial and attribute data table was evaluated as a supporting system for decision-making by a simulation of a virtual variable-rate chemical applicator. The applicator could extract the values of soil property at its consecutive location in the tested field in communication with the constructed database, and prescribe the corresponding variable-rate of chemicals. The results of the study suggested the possibility that the constructed database can function a supporting system for decision-making for precision farming.

  • Amorphous silicon is a kind of optical to electric conversion material with current or voltage type after generating a numerous free electron and hole when it is injected by light. It is very effective technology to make schottky diode by bonding thin film to use optical diode. In this paper, we have fabricated optical diode device by forming chrome silicide film through thermal processing with thin film($100{\AA}$) having optimal amorphous silicon. The optimal condition is that we make a thin film by using PECVD(Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) to improve reliability and characteristics of optical diode. We have obtained high quality diode by using chrome silicide optical diode from dark current and optical current measurement compared to previous method. It makes a simple process and improves a good reliability.
