상용 의학용 X-ray 필름의 특성곡선 (The Characteristic Curves of Commercial Medical X-ray Films)

  • For the purpose of determining characteristics of widely used commercial medical x-ray films, which are used for obtaining the Linac-grams for radiational treatment of cancers, we placed several commercial x-ray films at a fixed distance form the linear accelerator. After varying the exposed amount of radiation step by step, we could obtain a continually increasing density image for each film whose densities were determined by microdensitometer readings. The characteristic curves of the films were obtained by plotting the densities vs. the exposed radiation amounts, and their ${\gamma}$ values were determined. These values can be used to suggest a minimum necessary amount of exposed radiation to get a useful Linac-gram. The measured ${\gamma}$ values of the characteristic curves of the Kodak-DVP/RA-1 film were 1.73 when used 6MV x-ray, 1.70 when used 15MV of intensity. For the Konica-AX film, ${\gamma}$ values were 1.29 and 1.18 respectively. The result suggests that the effective conditions for high resolution of a L-gram be 6 MV of x-ray intensity and about 3 rad of exposed dose on a Kodak-DVP/RA-1 film.

  • X-ray high-voltage generator is the most important part that can decide the radiation exposure dose affecting a patient or operator according to the characteristic. If decrease of X-ray radiation exposure dose and output characteristic of high-voltage generator is unstable, a patient or operator must be exposed to more radiation. This study measures and analyzes the exposure dose reproducibility and output characteristic according to a change of tube current on the various rectification methods of diagnostic X-ray equipment. It can find that quality bastardize and output is increased if voltage of X-ray tube is increased. Exposure dose reproducibility according to output of X-ray equipment is extremely excellent in inverter type, and is stable in order of following three-phase, a single-phase and condenser method. This study can find that the reply incidence of high-voltage generator is generated due to difference in rectification method, noise occurs in X-ray due to that, quality of an image is decreased due to that, and medical diagnosis can be failed due to that.

다시점 X선 영상을 이용한 3차원 좌표 획득 (3D Coordinates Acquisition by using Multi-view X-ray Images)

  • In this paper, a 3D coordinates acquisition method for a mechanical assembly is developed by using multiview X-ray images. The multi-view X-ray images of an object are obtained by a rotary table. From the rotation transformation, it is possible to obtain the 3D coordinates of corresponding edge points on multi-view X-ray images by triangulation. The edge detection algorithm in this paper is based on the attenuation characteristic of the X-ray. The 3D coordinates of the object points are represented on a graphic display, which is used for the inspection of a mechanical assembly.

X-ray PIV 기법의 개발과 혈액 유동에의 적용연구 (Development of X-ray PIV Technique and its Application to Blood Flow)

  • An x-ray PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique was developed to measure quantitative information on flows inside opaque conduits and on opaque-fluid flows. At first, the developed x-ray PIV technique was applied to flow in an opaque Teflon tube. To acquire x-ray images suitable for PIV velocity field measurements, refraction-based edge enhancement mechanism was employed using detectable tracer particles. The optimal distance between with the sample and detector was experimentally determined. The resulting amassed velocity field data were in reasonable agreement with the theoretical prediction. The x-ray PIV technique was also applied to blood flow in a microchannel. The flow pattern of blood was visualifed by enhancing the diffraction/interference -bas ed characteristic s of blood cells on synchrotron x-rays without any contrast agent or tracer particles. That is, the flow-pattern image of blood was achieved by optimizing the sample (blood) to detector distance and the sample thickness. Quantitative velocity field information was obtained by applying PIV algorithm to the enhanced x-ray flow images. The measured velocity field data show a typical flow structure of flow in a macro-scale channel.

고에너지 방사선을 이용한 의학용 x-ray 필름 특성연구 (Studies on the Characteristics of Medical X-ray Films Using the High Energy Radiation)

  • Two different commercial brand X-ray films are used for examining possible differences caused by different target distances when the patients are examined with highenergy X-rays. 6MV- and 15MV X-rays are tested at four different target distances. The films on which the radiation amounts are gradually increased using H$_2$O phantoms are developed by an automatic developing machine to be analysed in the image densities. Characteristic curves have similar shapes for different conditions but for the 130cm target distance. ${\gamma}$ values and average image densities per the illuminated radiation are used to analyse the differences.

PCM 클러스터링을 이용한 X-Ray 영상에서 장폐색 추출 (Extraction of Intestinal Obstruction in X-Ray Images Using PCM)

  • X-ray를 기반으로 하는 장 폐색 진단 방법은 검사자의 주관적인 요소가 포함되기 때문에 객관적 진단에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 허프 변환과 PCM 클러스터링 기법을 적용하여 장폐색 영역을 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 X-ray 장폐색 영상에서 ROI 영역을 추출한 후, 허프 변환 기법을 이용하여 ROI 영역에서 직선을 검출하고, 검출된 직선을 이용하여 공기 액체층의 형태학적 특징을 이용하여 대장 폐색을 추출한다. 그리고 추출된 ROI 영역을 PCM 클러스터링을 적용하여 ROI 영역을 양자화 한다. 양자화된 ROI 영역 중에서 대장 폐색의 특징이 포함된 클러스터의 그룹을 선정하고, 선정된 클러스터의 그룹에서 객체를 탐색하여 소장 장폐색 영역을 추출한다. 장폐색 환자의 X-ray 영상 30개를 대상으로 PCM 클러스터링을 적용한 결과, PCM의 초기 클러스터의 수를 4개로 설정한 경우가 장폐색 검출 성능이 우수하였고 TPR은 81.47%로 나타났다.

다층박막 거울을 이용한 단색 엑스선 획득 (Acquisition of Monochromatic X-ray Using Multilayer Mirror)

  • 나노 공간분해능을 갖는 영상을 얻기 위한 경엑스선 현미경 시스템에서는 단색 엑스선이 요구된다. 엑스선관에서 발생되는 화이트 빔으로부터 8.4 keV의 텅스텐 $L_{\alpha}$ 특성방사선을 84% 이상 반사시킬 수 있는 5.65 nm의 단위막 두께를 가지는 C/W 다층박막 거울을 설계하였고, 이온빔 스파터링 장치를 이용하여 $50{\times}50\;mm$ 크기로 제작하였다. 제작된 C/W 다층박막 거울은 99.5% 이상의 균일도(Uniformity)를 가지며, TEM 사진을 이용해 그 구조를 확인하였다. 8.05 keV의 구리 특성방사선을 광원으로 하는 엑스선 반사율 측정 장치를 이용한 다층박막 거울의 반사율을 측정함으로써 C/W 다층박막 거울의 8.4 keV에서의 반사율을 예상할 수 있었다. 제작된 C/W 다층박막 거울과 엑스선관을 이용하여 8.4 keV의 특성방사선을 획득함으로써 단색 엑스선을 획득하였다. 이때의 반사율은 77.1%였고, 단색 엑스선의 반치폭은 0.21 keV이었다. 엑스선관에서 높은 효율로 단색 엑스선을 획득할 수 있어 실험실 규모의 경엑스선 현미경 장치의 광원으로써 사용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였고, 다층박막 거울의 단위막 두께를 수 나노미터로 제작한다면 17.5 keV의 몰리브덴 특성방사선에 해당하는 단색 엑스선을 얻어 유방촬영에도 적용할 수 있을 것이다.

강내형 X선 튜브 온도 및 선량 분포 특성 (The Characteristic of Temperature and Dose Distribution of intra oral X-ray Tube)

  • 신개념 치과용 X선 촬영장치인 강내형 X선 튜브에 대한 연구가 소개되었다. 이는 초소형의 X-선 튜브를 구강내 삽입하여 외부에서 검출기로 영상을 획득하는 새로운 시스템이다. 본 연구에서는 구내 치근단 촬영을 위해 사용하는 강내형 X선 튜브의 온도분포 및 선량 분포 특성을 조사하였다. X선 튜브의 온도특성을 파악하기 위하여 튜브 표면에 써머커플을 부착하여 튜브 표면에서부터 거리에 대한 온도를 측정하였으며, EBT 필름을 이용하여 튜브표면에서부터 거리에 따른 선량 분포를 측정하였다. 그 결과 냉각장치가 없는 튜브에서 2mm 이상 거리에서 온도는 $27^{\circ}C$로 일정하였으며, 튜브에서 3cm, 5cm일 때 선량분포가 3.14, 1.84mGy로 나타났다. 그 결과 제안한 시스템은 기존 시스템에 비해 낮은 선량에서 안전하게 촬영이 가능한 것으로 향후 구내 치근단 촬영장치에 새로운 변화를 가져올 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Quality evaluation of red ginsengs is determined by outer shape and inner qualities. Especially, the inner qualities are main grading criteria. Currently, red ginsengs are classified into 3-grades; heaven, earth and good. The best heaven grade must not include inner holes and sponge tissues. This study was conducted to develop a red ginseng sorting system using x-ray image processing technique. Because of lens characteristic, gray values of the central region in the x-ray image are higher and gradually decreased towards the edge regions. This difference of gray values gives trouble in segmentation and detection of inner holes in red ginseng image, so preprocessing technique is necessary. The preprocessing was done by subtracting source image from an empty background image. But, simple subtraction was not quite appropriate because of too small contrast between inner holes and sound part. Scaled subtraction images were obtained by multiplying all gray values by some numbers. However this method could not help to set threshold value because the gray values of root part are generally lower than body part when red ginseng is exposed to the x-ray. To determine threshold value for detecting inner holes, an algorithm was developed by increasing overall gray values of less clear images.
