  • A hybrid performance prediction method is proposed in the present study. A channel diffuser is divided into four subregions: vaneless space, semi-vaneless space, channel, and channel exit region. One-dimensional compressible core flow and boundary layer calculation of each region with an incidence loss model and empirical correlation of residuary pressure recovery coefficient of a channel predict the performance of diffusers. Three channel diffusers are designed and tested for validating the developed prediction method. The pressure distributions from an impeller exit to the channel diffuser exit are measured and discussed for various operating conditions from choke to nearly surge conditions. The strong non-uniform pressure distribution which is caused by impeller-diffuser interaction is obtained over the vaneless and semi-vaneless spaces. The predicted performance shows good agreement with the measured performance of diffusers at a design condition as well as at off-design conditions.

  • This paper suggests the effective channel assignment scheme for mobility prediction handover. For maintaining required quality of service (QoS) during handover, there are handover algorithms these reserve the channel where the movement is predicted. But channel assignment schemes these have been studied are not considered mobility prediction handover. This paper suggests the channel assignment scheme that considers mobility predicted handover. The suggested algorithm maintains dropping probability of handover calls, decreases blocking probability of new calls and increases channel utilization.

  • There are two a approaches for the Cognitive Radio(CR) development. One is 'Full CR', which Joseph Mitola III proposed, and another is 'Spectrum CR', which is currently being standardized. The target approach of this paper is the latter and we develop a Cognitive Engine(CE) and simulated a channel set management(CSM), which is a core function of CE. The Channel set management evaluates channel quality and Incumbent User(IU) vacancy possibility and classifies the channel set, which is performed by using channel state history. Especially, a very important function for the channel set management is a channel state prediction and this paper proposed a Hidden Markov Model(HMM) based channel state prediction and a method for increasing performance. Also, we applied the proposed method into our simulator and simulated channel state prediction. Through the simulation, we verified as we applied our proposed scheme, the performance of channel state prediction gets better and through comparing with RS and SS, we verified the HMM based Channel state prediction is better.

  • Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication may provide high spectral efficiency through the deployment of a very large number of antenna elements at the base stations. The gains from massive MIMO communication come from the use of multi-user MIMO on the uplink and downlink, but with a large excess of antennas at the base station compared to the number of served users. Initial work on massive MIMO did not fully address several practical issues associated with its deployment. This paper considers the impact of channel aging on the performance of massive MIMO systems. The effects of channel variation are characterized as a function of different system parameters assuming a simple model for the channel time variations at the transmitter. Channel prediction is proposed to overcome channel aging effects. The analytical results on aging show how capacity is lost due to time variation in the channel. Numerical results in a multicell network show that massive MIMO works even with some channel variation and that channel prediction could partially overcome channel aging effects.

  • The transmitter requires knowledge of the channel status information in order to adopt the adaptive modulation and coding scheme(AMC) for OFDM system. But in the outdoor environment which the users have high mobility, the channel status information from the users is outdated, so that it induces the degradation of system throughput and packet error rate(PER) performance. To solve this problem, researches about applying channel prediction technique to the AMC scheme have been proceeded. Most channel prediction techniques assume that there is no channel variation in the predefined time duration, e.g., a slot. As a result, those techniques cannot compensate the degradation of PER performance resulting from the rapid variation of channel during the slot duration. This paper introduces a novel channel prediction technique for OFDM/FDD system to support adaptive modulation and coding scheme over rapidly time-varying multipath fading channel. The proposed channel prediction technique considers the time-varying nature of channel during the slot duration. Simulation results show that the AMC scheme of OFDM/FDD system utilizing the proposed channel prediction technique can guarantee the target PER of 1% without any loss of system throughput compared with the case supported by the conventional channel prediction under ITU-R Veh A 30km/h.

  • Cognitive radio (CR) has been recently proposed to dynamically access unused-spectrum. Since the spectrum availability for opportunistic access is determined by spectrum sensing, sensing control is identified as one of the most crucial issues of cognitive radio networks. Out-of-band sensing to find an available channels to sense. Sensing is also required in case of spectrum hand-off. Sensing process needs to be done very fast in order to enhance the quality of service (QoS) of the CR nodes, and transmission not to be cut for longer time. During the sensing, the PU(primary user) detection probability condition should be satisfied. We adopt a channel prediction method to find target channels. Proposed prediction method combines chaotic global method and chaotic local method for channel idle probability prediction. Global method focus on channel history information length and order number of prediction model. Local method focus on local prediction trend. Through making simulation, Proposed method can find an available channel with very high probability, total sensing time is minimized, detection probability of PU's are satisfied.

  • Blind identification and equalization of communication channel is important because it does not need training sequence, nor does it require a priori channel information. So, we can increase the bandwidth efficiency. The linear prediction error method is perhaps the most attractive in practice due to the insensitive to blind channel estimator and equalizer length mismatch as well as for its simple adaptive algorithms. In this paper, we propose method for fractionally spaced blind equalizer with arbitrary delay using one-step forward prediction error filter from second-order statistics of the received signals for SIMO channel. Our algorithm utilizes the forward prediction error as training sequences for data estimation and desired signal for channel estimation.

  • The performances of side channel type regenerative blowers were evaluated by the blower performance test, 1-D performance prediction and CFD. The performance prediction method was modified using the results of the performance test and CFD and applied to the design of the new regenerative blowers. The major geometric parameters such as channel height, channel area and expansion angle were decided from the performance prediction method for the improved models and the predicted results were compared with CFD and experimental data. Both of the modified models showed improved efficiency at the operating condition. Especially, model3 could be possible to reduce operating rotating speed, that is benefit to noise performance, because of the high head performance at the design point. The CFD results showed that the performance of the regenerative blower was influenced by the secondary circulatory flow in the channel.

  • The periphery pump (or regenerative pump) has been generally applied in the automotive fuel pump due to their low specific speed (high heads and small flow rate) with stable performance curves. In this study, the performance prediction of side channel type periphery pumps has been developed. The prediction of the circulatory flow rate is based on the consideration of the centrifugal force field in the side-channel and in the impeller vane grooves. For the determination of performance curve (head-flow rate), momentum exchange theory is used. The effects of various geometric parameters and loss coefficients used in the performance prediction method on the head and efficiency are discussed, and the results were compared with experimental data.
