위성통신시스템에서 강우감쇠 보상을 위한 적응형 부호화 기법 최적 설계 (The Optimum Design of Adaptive Channel Coding for Rain-Attenuation Compensation in Satellite Communication Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 위성통신에서 강우감쇠에 따라 가변 부호화율을 적용시킬 수 있는 적응형 부호화 기법에 대한 연구를 하였다. 따라서, 3bit 연판정을 적용한 Viterbi 복호기를 이용하여 QPSK와 TC-8PSK 신호를 복호할 수 있는 pragmatic TCM과 LSB 부호화 알고리즘에 대해 여러 부호화율에서 성능분석을 하였다. 또한 구현을 위한 최적의 파라미터를 설정하여 부호화율 2/3를 가지는 pragmatic TCM을 VHDL 모델링 하였다. 구현결과 PLEX10KE100EQC208-1 CPLD 칩으로 구현 가능하였으며, 42.36 Mbps의 복호 속도를 가진다. 실제 ASIC 설계시 CPLD 속도보다 약 5∼6배의 고속화가 가능하므로, 200 MHz 트렌스 폰더를 갖는 Ka 대역 초고속 위성통신 시스템에서 강우 감쇠에 대처하기 위한 적응형 트렐리스 부호화방식에 적용할 수 있다.

A Good Puncturing Scheme for Rate Compatible Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

  • We consider the challenges of finding good puncturing patterns for rate-compatible low-density parity-check code (LDPC) codes over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. Puncturing is a scheme to obtain a series of higher rate codes from a lower rate mother code. It is widely used in channel coding but it causes performance is lost compared to non-punctured LDPC codes at the same rate. Previous work, considered the role of survived check nodes in puncturing patterns. Limitations, such as single survived check node assumption and simulation-based verification, were examined. This paper analyzes the performance according to the role of multiple survived check nodes and multiple dead check nodes. Based on these analyses, we propose new algorithm to find a good puncturing pattern for LDPC codes over AWGN channels.

Performance Analysis of Coded Cooperation based Relayed Transmission under Rayleigh Fading Channels

  • This paper introduces the coded cooperation protocol in wireless relay network. We propose a two relay based coded cooperation protocol with RCPC codes for wireless networks. The proposed two-relay based system can achieve a diversity of order 4 under slow fading environment. Under fast fading, the diversity order is 2 times of the free distance of the convolutional code. We develop upper bounds on BER and FER for the system under both slow and fast fading with Rayleigh distribution. The effect of various channel conditions on the cooperation is also examined in this work.

  • In typical block-based video coding, the objective of RC(Rate Control) is to select the quantization parameters so that the encoder produces bits at the rate of the channel and the overall distortion is minimized. To reduce the huge amount of computations required for offline RC, there have been significant efforts to speed up the process of video encoders. Those efforts have been mainly focused on the modes for bit rate and distortion in types of coders, in terms of the quantization parameters. Because previous works related to model based online RC are based on statistics of previous frame, it occurs the problem such that allocates bits unequally without regard to current frame statistics. In this thesis, an equal bit allocation scheme using current frame statistics is proposed.

Slotted CDMA_ALOHA Protocol with Hybrid ARQ in Wireless Communication Network

  • In this paper, a slotted CDMA_ALOHA protocol with hybrid ARQ is proposed for the wireless CDMA communication networks. The proposed protocol combines the characteristics of the slotted ALOHA, CDMA, and the hybrid ARQ, in order to increase the throughput by reducing the number of retransmissions when the channel experiences heavy traffic. The main feature of the proposed protocol is the utilization of the forward error correction capability to correct errors that appear after the CDMA dispreading of the packets. The base station does not need to ask so often for retransmission of erroneous packets. It will request for retransmission only when the FEC capability is exceeded. The performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed by considering the packet collision probability as well as the bit error probability. The numerical results show that the system throughput is closely related to the bit error rate of the wireless link and the FEC coding rate.

Improved Reliability-Based Iterative Decoding of LDPC Codes Based on Dynamic Threshold

  • A serial concatenated decoding algorithm with dynamic threshold is proposed for low-density parity-check codes with short and medium code lengths. The proposed approach uses a dynamic threshold to select a decoding result from belief propagation decoding and order statistic decoding, which improves the performance of the decoder at a negligible cost. Simulation results show that, under a high SNR region, the proposed concatenated decoder performs better than a serial concatenated decoder without threshold with an Eb/N0 gain of above 0.1 dB.

  • In this paper, we have analyzed transmission time for WAP over CDMA using turbo code scheme. In order for SAR to improve the transfer capability, the transmission of messages have been simulated using a fragmentation that begins with the total package and incremental fragmentation for each layer using the WTP to define tile resultant packet size and the level of fragmentation for each proceeding layer. This turbo code scheme decreases transmission lime of RLP baseband packets. From the results, we arc able to obtain packet transmission time and optimal WTP packet size for WAP over CDMA in a Rician fading channel.

  • 고효율의 d = 3인 6-ary runlength-limited code를 연구하였다. Rate가 6/7일 경우 98.87%의 효율을 얻을 수 있었고 rate가 13/15일 경우 Shannon capacity에 근접하는 무려 99.95%의 효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 6-ary RLL code를 효과적으로 검출하기 위한 partial response mode에 관하여 고찰하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 효율적인 스트리밍 전송을 위한 합성변조 CDMA시스템을 제안하고 전송 채널 환경은 나카가미 페이딩 모델을 도입하고 전자기기에서 방출되는 임펄스 간섭파를 채널 환경으로 모델링하여 합성변조기법을 채용한 CDMA 시스템의 성능을 분석하였다. 또한 MRC 다이버시티 기법과 BCH 코딩 기법을 이용하여 열화된 시스템 성능을 개선하였다.

  • 본 논문은 블록기반 DCT 부호화 영상의 화전 평가 몇 개선에 필수적인 블록화 외곡 정도를 측정하는 새로운 블라인드 측정 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 모델은 원영상을 필요로 하지 않으며 또한 인간시각 특성의 다채널 구조에 따른 주파수 민감도와 마스킹 현상을 반영하여 영상 부호화시 발생하는 블록화 외곡량을 정량적으로 검출, 측정하였으며 실험을 통해 제안된 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다.
