Characterization of New Two Parametric Generalized Useful Information Measure

  • In this paper we define a two parametric new generalized useful average code-word length $L_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) and its relationship with two parametric new generalized useful information measure $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) has been discussed. The lower and upper bound of $L_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U), in terms of $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) are derived for a discrete noiseless channel. The measures defined in this communication are not only new but some well known measures are the particular cases of our proposed measures that already exist in the literature of useful information theory. The noiseless coding theorems for discrete channel proved in this paper are verified by considering Huffman and Shannon-Fano coding schemes on taking empirical data. Also we study the monotonic behavior of $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) with respect to parameters ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$. The important properties of $H_{{\alpha}}^{{\beta}}$(P;U) have also been studied.

  • Physical layer security (PLS) can improve the security of both terrestrial and nonterrestrial wireless communication networks. This study proposes a simplified framework for nonterrestrial cyclic prefixed orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF)-encoded multiple-input and multiple-output nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems to ensure complete network security. Various useful methods are implemented, where both improved sine map and multiple parameter-weighted-type fractional Fourier transform encryption schemes are combined to investigate the effects of hybrid PLS. In addition, OVSF coding with power domain NOMA for multi-user interference reduction and peak-toaverage power ratio (PAPR) reduction is introduced. The performance of $\frac{1}{2}$-rated convolutional, turbo, and repeat and accumulate channel coding with regularized zero-forcing signal detection for forward error correction and improved bit error rate (BER) are also investigated. Simulation results ratify the pertinence of the proposed system in terms of PLS and BER performance improvement with reasonable PAPR.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust detection scheme of OSTBCs with channel estimation errors over time-selective fading channels. Channel estimation errors are inevitable over time-selective fading channels and even small channel estimation errors dramatically degrade the performance of space-time block coding schemes. Therefore, it is desired to investigate the effect of channel estimation errors on the performance of the proposed detection scheme compared with the existing detection scheme. The proposed detection scheme minimizes noise enhancement and impact of channel estimation errors which occur in an existing detection scheme. It is shown by simulations that the proposed detection scheme performs better than the existing detection scheme over time-selective fading channels.

  • Spatial Audio Coding 방법 중 하나인 Binaural Cue Coding 방법은 다채널 다객체 오디오 신호를 모노나 스테레오로 다운 믹스한 신호와 spatial 큐를 전송해 디코더에서 복원하는 기술로 작은 비트 율로 다채널 오디오 신호를 전송 복원해 내는 기술이다. 본 논문은 BCC 코딩 방법에서 채널 상관도를 나타내는 ICC 파라메터에 따라 spatial cue 종류를 달리함으로써 전송되는 부가정보의 비트 율을 줄이는 방법을 제안한다.

  • The occurrence of a single bit error in transmission bitstream leads to serious temporal and spatial errors. Because moving picture coding as MPEG-2 based on block coding algorithm uses variable length coding and motion compensation coding algorithm. In this paper, we propose algorithm to conceal occurred error of I-frames in transmission channel using data of the neighboring blocks in decoder. We divide a damaged macroblock of I-frame into four sub blocks and compose new macroblock using the neighboring blocks for each sub block. We estimate the block with minimum difference value through block matching with previous frame for new macroblocks and replace each estimated block with damaged sub block in the same position. Through simulation results, the proposed algorithm will be applied to a characteristic of moving with effect and shows better performance than conventional error concealment algorithms from visual and PSNR of view.

  • In this paper, atmospheric turbulence and absorption under clear weather condition, which affect the optical satellite up-link communication between geo-satellites and earth station, were studied. In case of the up-link communication, the received optical power is weakened by pointing loss caused by beam tilt which is the main effect of turbulent atmosphere. This pointing loss directly has relation to the diameter of optical transmitting antenna. From the inverse proportion of the pointing and spaced loss, it is the regions where the diameter of transmitting antenna increases abruptly and the efficient design of transmitting antenna is impossible. In case of using channel coding, it was shown that the peak value of diameter moved to the lower regions of elevation angle with increasing the coding gain and its width was also decreased. In case of considering both coding gain and transmission rate on the design of transmitting antenna, it was known that more coding gain was necessary as transmission rate was increased.

  • 송신 다이버시티는 무선통신 시스템의 성능을 개선하기 위해 효과적인 다이버시티 기법이다. 이러한 송신 다이버시티를 위해 설계된 부호화 방식이 space-time coding이다. 본 논문에서는 space-time trellis coding을 이용한 송신 다이버시티를 가진 OFDM 시스템에서 효율적인 채널 추정 기법을 제안하였다. 기존의 방식은 채널의 지연 확산에 따라 계산 량이 매우 증가하는데 비해 본 논문에서 제안된 채널 추정 기법은 채널을 추정하는데 필요한 계산 량이 채널의 지연 확산에 무관하다. 또한 Multi-Level 신호에 대해서도 계산 량이 증가를 일으키지 않고 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다. 채널 추정 기법의 성능을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션에 의한 BER을 통해 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, a new improved EREC based error resilient coding in JPEG-2000 standard is proposed, considering the error sensitive wireless environment with limited channel capacity. In order to apply EREC, we use the variable bit-rate by using R-D optimization. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed EREC based error resilient coding is more resilient than the error resilient schemes used in JPEG-2000.

Channel Adaptive RPSS(Reference Picture Segment Selection) Technique for Error-Resilient Video Communication over Wireless Channels (무선 채널에서의 오류에 강인한 비디오 통신을 위한 채널 환경에 적응적인 참조 영상 세그먼트 선택(RPSS)기법)

  • The proposed RPSS(Reference Picture Segment Selection) mode is the RPS mode in picture segment of the ISD mode. The RPS mode has the weakness that it has to change the whole reference picture even if transmission error occurs only in the small part of picture. If the RPS mode is applied only to an error-occurred part and a conventional coding scheme is applied to an error-free part, the higher coding efficiency can be obtained. Simulation results show that there is the optimal number of segment which provides that best performance with given environment such as the BER(Bit Error Rate) of wireless channels, the characteristics of imput sequence, what kind of RPSS mode is used, etc. To apply the channel-adoptive RPSS mode later, the scheme which can change the number of segment without INTRA refresh and spatial error propagation is proposed in this paper.

Evaluation Performance of Speech Coder in Speech Signal Processing

  • We compared CS-ACELP with QCELP speech coder in CDMA cellular under channel error environment and experimented performance with its measured value under channel error environment. Also, we specified the effective coding scheme to overcome. CS-ACELP speech coder using a LSP vector quantizer shows transparent speech quality from the results that SD is 0.92dB and outlier frames over 2dB is 2.9% in the BER 0.10% condition. CS-ACELP speech coder which is utilizing MA predictor shows better results on SVR and SEGSNR than QCELP speech coder(IS-96) adopting DPCM type predictor when bit error occurs from BER 0.01% to 0.50%.
