  • Only MAC protocol can satisfy the service quality of the request of bandwidth, delay time, and cell loss at the same time and it is because MAC protocol provides mobile terminal an environment to use channel evenly and effectively This Paper has been adapted Mobile ATM Standardization of ETSI in maximum and used not only for practicing in-band signal to a priority order but also to the next reserved slot assignment of the dynamic frame. Also, by accepting VBR traffic more adaptively, the effectiveness of transmission channel has been maximized as well, and these are compared with the old way of it and analyzed to confirm the effectiveness.

  • In this paper we consider the frequency assignment problem (FAP) in a cellular mobile communication system which has a maximal distance of channel interference. This special structure is observed in most cellular systems. To handle the considered FAP, we use the pattern approach which fits naturally to the problem. Based on this approach, we are able to formulate the considered FAP into a manageable optimization problem and propose a two phase heuristic algorithm for the problem. Computational experiments show that our algorithm performs much better in both solution quality and computational time than the recently developed algorithms for FAP. Since the considered FAP well reflects most cellular systems, our algorithm can be applied to many practical situations.

  • This paper introduces a new pilot assignment algorithm for uplink Massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Since the conventional pilot assignment algorithm has the performance degradation compared to the optimal algorithm which performs the exhaustive search, we propose a new pilot assignment algorithm using Pre-determined Interference and Pre-determined Desired-term techniques. The proposed algorithm has the low complexity and guarantees negligible performance loss compared to the optimal algorithm. Simulation result verifies that the proposed algorithm achieves a large performance gain over the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, a fairness scheme is proposed that assigns different number of HS-PDSCH to the service user according to the received SIR of CPICH. Assigned channel number is determined by the SIR level. The highest SIR user gets the number of channels based on the SIR table and the remained channels are assigned to the other SIR users. This scheme can serve the similar maximum service throughput and higher fairness than MAX CIR packet scheduling algorithm. This scheme can also serve the higher service throughput than Proportional Fairness scheme.

  • We used the non-reversible hierarchical scheme and the fixed channel assignment scheme for the strategy of call processing at hierarchical cellular system. We analyzed the performance of system according to the number of channel assigned at macrocell out of the usable channel at global system. Microcell is assigned the channel excepted the channel assigned at macrocell. The more the channel was aigned at macrocell, the more decreased the blocking probability became. The blocking probability of microcell had similar trend.

  • In this paper, we propose a group distributed dynamic address assignment scheme suitable for tactical mobile ad hoc networks(MANET). Efficient address assignment is an important issue in the MANET because a node may frequently leave the current network and join another network owing to the mobility of the node. The conventional schemes do not consider the features of the tactical networks: existence of a leader node and network activity on a group basis. Thus, they may not be suitable for military operations. In our proposed scheme, called grouped units dynamic address assignment protocol(G-DAAP), a leader node maintains the address information for the members in the network and any of the nodes can exploit the information for the assignment or request of the IP address by a simple message exchange procedure. This leads to fast address assignment with small overheads. In addition, G-DAAP based on the modified IEEE 802.11e Enhanced Distributed Channel Access(EDCA) can assign addresses more quickly. We describe the delay performance of the G-DAAP and compare it with conventional schemes by numerical analysis and computer simulations. The results show that the G-DAAP significantly improves the delay performance as compared with the conventional schemes.

  • A major concern in a cellular mobile communication system is how to efficiently utilize the limited amount of frequencies. Various channel assignment methods and traffic sharing schemes have been proposed to improve system performance. However, these approaches suffer from complicated software and hardware requirements due to increased amount of traffic control In this paper, we propose a new method for improving system performance by controlling the powers of the set-up and voice channels of each cell site. We first show that the average number of blocked calls in a system is minimized when the traffic reates are made identical for all cell sites in a system. This result, together with the relationship between the channel powers and the service area, is used to determine the appropriate channel powers of each cell site. We also determine the upper limit on the channel power of each cell site considering co-channel interference and numerically show that the proposed method is effective in reducing the number of blocked calls without an excessive increase in the amount of system control.

  • The design of LAI(Local Area Identifier), the first paging area for searching the mobile terminal has a close relation with the performance of paging channel in CDMA cellular network. This paper discusses the performance of the forward channel of IS-95 CDMA standard, known as the paging through the related messages such as call control message, channel assignment message. Modeling and simulation work were conducted to quantify the performance of paging channel in terms of traffic handling capacity and blocking levels. This result serves as illustrative guidelines for the proper engineering of common control channel, which has a major impact on the overall performance of cellular network.
