There is a necessity for the communication between intelligent robots and human beings because of wide spread use of them. Gesture recognition is currently being studied in regards to better conversing. On the basis of previous research, however, the gesture recognition algorithms appear to require not only complicated algorisms but also separate training process for high recognition rates. This study suggests a gesture recognition algorithm based on computer vision system, which is relatively simple and more efficient in recognizing various human gestures. After tracing the hand gesture using a marker, direction changes of the gesture trajectory were analyzed to determine the simple gesture code that has minimal information to recognize. A map is developed to recognize the gestures that can be expressed with different gesture codes. Through the use of numerical and geometrical trajectory, the advantages and disadvantages of the suggested algorithm was determined.
In this paper, alternative dynamic features for speech recognition are proposed. The goal of this work is to improve speech recognition accuracy by deriving the representation of distinctive dynamic characteristics from a speech spectrum. This work was inspired by two temporal dynamics of a speech signal. One is the highly non-stationary nature of speech, and the other is the inter-frame change of a speech spectrum. We adopt the use of a sub-frame spectrum analyzer to capture very rapid spectral changes within a speech analysis frame. In addition, we attempt to measure spectral fluctuations of a more complex manner as opposed to traditional dynamic features such as delta or double-delta. To evaluate the proposed features, speech recognition tests over smartphone environments were conducted. The experimental results show that the feature streams simply combined with the proposed features are effective for an improvement in the recognition accuracy of a hidden Markov model-based speech recognizer.

Conventional Color-Based Face Recognition Methods are Sensitive to Illumination Changes, and there are the Possibilities of Forgery and Falsification so that it is Difficult to Apply to Various Industrial Fields. In This Paper, we propose a Face Recognition Method Based on LBP(Local Binary Pattern) using the Depth Images to Solve This Problem. Face Detection Method Using Depth Information and Feature Extraction and Matching Methods for Face Recognition are implemented, the Simulation Results show the Recognition Performance of the Proposed Method.
The Quality of human living depends on the environmental quality of the region sustaining the life. The environmental deterioration of the modern society is due to mechanical environmentalism. For the better quality of the life, The changes of recognition and attitude on the environments are required. These changes of mind are also important in environmental education for teenagers. The 7th national curriculum, officially anounced December 1998, focuses on the change of attitude to environments and practical behavior in real life for “Environments”, the environmental education curriculum in middle school. Basic elements of the curriculum are cultivation of the pro-environmental thinking, multi-levelling of teaching materials and methods, and encouraging of student participating activity. Actually, the curriculum construction is composed of stepped-levelling of teaching and learning, reasonable contents volume, encouraging of student practice, and suggesting of evaluation standards of textbook writing. Three main subjects of environmental education for middle school consist of (1) man and environment, (2) recognition of environmental problem, and (3) protection activity for environment. Methodology of environmental education can include multi-disciplinary approaches, variable teaching methods, and continuing evaluation of student practice and participation attitude. Environmental education for teenagers relating to the 7th national curriculum focuses on recognition of the environmental problems and practice activity in daily life. The recognition includes considering relationship of human life to environment, solving environmental problems in regional context, and development of comprehensive understanding concept of the environments. For the practice education, variable teaching methods, such as field survey and application of multi-media, are needed.

The speech movements are acquired activity, not determined by instincts or by biologic inheritance either. The child listens to the sound from the surrounding persons, observes the speech movement of the people and tried to imitate them. Then the child acquires their specific phonation pattern. We guessed that the parents influences to the child are very important in the developing of the speech movements. Because the parents are first contact person to the baby. The recognition of parents about the voice changes in the child will be important too. And social environments such as kindergarden, school, friends contact with, can influence to the voice of the child. We investigated the state of the voice, parents influence and social environmental factor. In the bases of this study, we knew that the parents recognition about the voice changes of child, faulty vocal habits of child, social environmental factors influenced to the voice of child. And we thought we have to do our best for the early detection of voice changes and proper treatment.
Objectives: To provide necessary information for stable establishment of the national dental scaling reimbursement system. Methods: This study was conducted in 380 adults in their twenties or older for about one month from July 2017. The questionnaires were composed of general characteristics, recognition (awareness) of dental scaling, knowledge of the dental scaling reimbursement program, changes in perception before versus after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program, and interest in oral health. To investigate into any factors affecting changes of interest in oral health care after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program, a multiple regression analysis was performed. Results: The investigation into any factors affecting changes of interest in oral health care after introduction of the dental scaling reimbursement program showed that higher usual interest in oral health (p<0.001) and the consideration that the dental scaling charges have been affordable after introduction of the scaling reimbursement program (p<0.01) led to more changes in interest in oral health care. Conclusions: The above-mentioned results suggest that the dental scaling reimbursement program has brought favorable changes in the perception of dental scaling. It is expected that the said program will contribute significantly to the improved national oral health, and the Government should make constant efforts to develop it as a long-term policy for oral health improvement.
We present an efficient face recognition method that is robust to illumination changes. We named the proposed method as SKKUfaces. We first compute eigenfaces from training images and then apply fisher discriminant analysis using the obtained eigenfaces that exclude eigenfaces correponding to first few largest eigenvalues. This way, SKKUfaces can achieve the maximum class separability without considering eigenfaces that are responsible for illumination changes, facial expressions and eyewear. In addition, we have developed a method that efficiently computes beween-scatter and within-scatter matrices in terms of memory space and computation time. We have tested the performance of SKKUfaces on the YALE and the SKKU face databases. Initial Experimental results show that SKKUfaces performs greatly better over Fisherfaces on the input images of large variations in lighting and eyewear.

The LPR(License plate recognition) system has been developed to efficient control for complex traffic environment and currently be used in many places. However, because of light, noise, background changes, environmental changes, damaged plate, it only works limited environment, so it is difficult to use in real-time. This paper presents a heuristic segmentation algorithm for robust to noise and illumination changes and introduce a real-time license plate recognition system using it. In first step, We detect the plate utilized Haar-like feature and Adaboost. This method is possible to rapid detection used integral image and cascade structure. Second step, we determine the type of license plate with adaptive histogram equalization, bilateral filtering for denoise and segment accurate character based on adaptive threshold, pixel projection and associated with the prior knowledge. The last step is character recognition that used histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) and multi-layer perceptron(MLP) for number recognition and support vector machine(SVM) for number and Korean character classifier respectively. The experimental results show license plate detection rate of 94.29%, license plate false alarm rate of 2.94%. In character segmentation method, character hit rate is 97.23% and character false alarm rate is 1.37%. And in character recognition, the average character recognition rate is 98.38%. Total average running time in our proposed method is 140ms. It is possible to be real-time system with efficiency and robustness.

We introduce a vision-based hand gesture recognition fer understanding musical time and patterns without extra special devices. We suggest a simple and reliable vision-based hand gesture recognition having two features First, the motion-direction code is proposed, which is a quantized code for motion directions. Second, the conducting feature point (CFP) where the point of sudden motion changes is also proposed. The proposed hand gesture recognition system extracts the human hand region by segmenting the depth information generated by stereo matching of image sequences. And then, it follows the motion of the center of the gravity(COG) of the extracted hand region and generates the gesture features such as CFP and the direction-code finally, we obtain the current timing pattern of beat and tempo of the playing music. The experimental results on the test data set show that the musical time pattern and tempo recognition rate is over 86.42% for the motion histogram matching, and 79.75% fer the CFP tracking only.

This paper presents a comparative study of four pattern recognition algorithms which are invariant to translations, rotations, and scale changes of the input object; namely, object shape features (OSF), geometrica fourier mellin transform (GFMT), moment invariants (MI), and centered polar exponential transform (CPET). Pattern description is obviously one of the most important aspects of pattern recognition, which is useful to describe the object shape independently of translation, rotation, or size. We first discuss problems that arise in the conventional invariant pattern recognition algorithms, or size. We first discuss problems that arise in the coventional invariant pattern recognition algorithms, then we analyze their performance using the same criterion. Computer simulations with several distorted images show that the CPET algorithm yields better performance than the other ones.
