This study proposed a procedure to improve the error defection of attached cadastral maps using digital map data. In addition, this study also provided the direction for the accuracy improvement of attached cadastral maps by comparing analysis methods. - such as centroid, Lee Sallee shape index, and area index. The analysis is performed as follows. First, by using centroid measurement, the center point of cadastral maps and attached cadastral maps are compared. Secondly by using Lee Sallee shape measurement, the location accuracy of range area is investigated. Thirdly, by using area measurement, the range area within allowable error scope is verified. Based on analysis, the discrepancy between cadastral maps and the attacked cadastral maps are detected as follows; 98.2% from Lee Sallee shape index, 41.8% from centroid, 15.4% from area index in the whole error.

TMHMM(Tied Mixture Hidden Markov Model) is an important approach to reduce the number of free parameters in speech recognition. However, this model suffers from a degradation in recognition accuracy due to its GPDF (Gaussian Probability Density Function) clustering error. This paper proposes a clustering algorithm, called HCNN(Homogeneous Centroid Neural network), to cluster acoustic feature vectors in TMHMM. Moreover, the HCNN uses the heterogeneous distance measure to allocate more code vectors in the heterogeneous areas where probability densities of different states overlap each other. When applied to Korean digit isolated word recognition, the HCNN reduces the error rate by 9.39% over CNN clustering, and 14.63% over the traditional K-means clustering.
Extraction of ocean surface current velocity offers important physical oceanographic parameters especially on understanding ocean environment. Although Remote Sensing techniques were highly developed, the investigation of ocean surface current using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is not an easy task. This paper presents the results of ocean surface current observation using Doppler Centroid of ERS-1 SAR data obtained off the coast of Korea peninsula. We employed the concept, in which Doppler frequency shift and the ocean surface current are closely related, to evaluate ocean surface current. Moving targets cause Doppler frequency shift of the back scattered radar waves of SAR, thus the line-of-sight velocity component of the scatters can be evaluated. The Doppler frequency shift can be measured by estimating the difference between Doppler Centroid of raw SAR data and reference Doppler Centroid. Theoretically, the Doppler Centroid is zero; however, squinted antenna which is affected by several physical factors causes Doppler Centroid to be nonzero. The reference Doppler Centroid can be obtained from measurements of sensor trajectory, attitude and Earth model. The estimated Doppler Centroid was compensated by considering the accurate attitude estimation of ERS-1 SAR. We could verify the correspondence between the estimated ocean surface current and observed in-situ data in the error bound.

It is important to find the random estimation points in wireless sensor network. A link quality indicator (LQI) is part of a network management service that is suitable for a ZigBee network and can be used for localization. The current quality of the received signal is referred as LQI. It is a technique to demodulate the received signal by accumulating the magnitude of the error between ideal constellations and the received signal. This proposed model accepts any number of random estimation point in the network and calculated its nearest anchor centroid node pair. Coordinates of the LQI sphere are calculated from the pair and are added iteratively to the initially estimated point. With the help of the LQI and weighted centroid localization, the proposed system finds the position of target node more accurately than the existing system by solving the problems related to higher error in terms of the distance and the deployment of nodes.

In this paper, we propose an automatic recognition algorithm using the object centroid of a facial image. First, we separate the facial image from the background image using the chroma-key technique and we find the centroid of the separated facial image. Second, we search nose in the facial image based on knowledge of human faces and the coordinate of the object centroid and, we calculate 17 feature parameters automatically. Finally, we recognize the facial image by using feature parameters in the neural networks which are trained through error backpropagation algorithm. It is illustrated by experiments by experiments using the proposed recogniton system that facial images can be recognized in spite of the variation of the size and the position of images.

Researches on indoor localization using the wireless sensor network have been actively carried out to be used for indoor area where GPS signal is not received. Computationally efficient WCL(Weighted Centroid Localization) algorithm is shown to perform relatively well. However, to get the best performance for WCL all the anchor nodes must send signal with power to cover 96% of the network. The fact that outside the transmission range of the fixed nodes drastic localization error occurs results in large mean error and deviation. Due to these problems the WCL algorithm is not easily applied for use in the real indoor environment. In this paper we propose SRS(Succesive Region Setting) algorithm which sequentially reduces the estimated location area using the signal strength from the anchor nodes. The proposed algorithm does not show significant performance degradation corresponding to transmission range of the anchor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed SRS algorithm has mean localization error 5 times lower than that of the WCL under free space propagation environment.

The demand for indoor positioning is increasing day by day. However, the widely used positioning methods today cannot satisfy the requirements of the indoor environment in terms of the positioning accuracy and deployment cost. In the existing research domain, the localization algorithm based on three-dimensional space is less accurate, and its robustness is not high. Visible light communication technology (VLC) combines lighting and positioning to reduce the cost of equipment deployment and improve the positioning accuracy. Further, it has become a popular research topic for telecommunication and positioning in the indoor environment. This paper proposes a surface centroid TOA localization algorithm based on the VLC system. The algorithm uses the multiple solutions estimated by the trilateration method to form the intersecting planes of the spheres. Then, it centers the centroid of the surface area as the position of the unknown node. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional TOA positioning algorithm, the average positioning error of the surface centroid TOA algorithm is reduced by 0.3243 cm and the positioning accuracy is improved by 45%. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has better positioning accuracy than the traditional TOA positioning algorithm, and has certain application value.
A novel adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) strategy based on the Moment-of-Fluid (MOF) method for volume-tracking dynamic interface computation is presented. The Moment-of-Fluid method is a new interface reconstruction and volume advection method using volume fraction as well as material centroid. The mesh refinement is performed based on the error indicator, the deviation of the actual centroid obtained by interface reconstruction from the reference centroid given by moment advection process. Using the AMR-MOF method, the accuracy of volume-tracking computation with evolving interfaces is improved significantly compared to other published results.
