The facial esthetics are much affected by nasal changes due to especially its central position in relation to facial outline and so appropriately evaluated should be the functional and esthetic aspects of the nose associated with the facial appearance. Generally, a maxillary surgical movement is known to induce the changes of nasolabial morphology secondary to the skeletal repositioning accompanied by muscular retraction. These changes can be desirable or undesirable to individuals according to the direction and amount of maxillary repositioning. We investigated the surgical changes of bony maxilla and its effects to nasal morphology through the analysis of the lateral cephalogram in the Le Fort I osteotomy. Subjects were 10 patients(male 2, female 8, mean age 22.3 years) and cephalograms were obtained 2 weeks before surgery(T1) and 6 months after surgery(T2). The surgical maxillary movement was identified through the horizontal and vertical repositioning of point A. Soft-tissue analysis of the nasal profile was performed employing two angles: nasal tip projection(NTP), columellar angle(CA). Also, alar base width(ABW) was assessed directly on the patients with a slide gauge. The results were as follows; 1. Both anterior and superior movement above 2mm of maxilla rotated up nasal tip above 1mm. Either anterior or superior movement above 2mm of maxilla made prediction of the amount & direction of NTP changes difficult. Especially, a correlation between horizontal movement of maxilla and NTP rotated-up was P<0.01. 2. Both much highly anterior and superior movement of maxilla is accompanied by more CA increase than either highly. Especially, the correlation between horizontal movement of maxilla and CA change was P<0.05. 3. Anterior and/or superior movement of maxilla was accompanied by the unpredictable ABW widening. 4. The amount of changes of NTP, CA, and ABW is not in direct proportion to amout of anterior and/or superior movement of maxilla. 5. Nasal morphologic changes following Le Fort I osteotomy are affacted by not merely bony repositioning but other multiple factors.
In the present study, we designed and constructed new microdialysis probe in order to improve the efficacy and accuracy of microdialysis method. In addition, extracellular concentrations of GABA, glutamate, aspartate and glycine were monitored with new designed probe in the lateral portion of the ventrocaudal periaqueductal gray using unanesthetized and unrestrained rats. Furthermore, the effect of opiates on release of these amino acids, especially GABA, was analyzed by measuring their concentration in PAG dialysates following veratridine administration in the presence of systemic morphine. The results were summerized as follow : 1. The damaging rates of 1.0mm or 1.5mm window probe were 12.5% or 42.8%, respectively. In the group using 1.5mm window probe, the damaging area was extended into mesencephalic aqueduct because of microdialyzing pressure. 2. Because of the unique design of our probes with an opening facing one side, dialysis occurs in a hemisphere($600{\mu}m$ in mediolateral direction and $100{\mu}m$ in opposite side of the dialysis probe) around the opening rather than in a spherical shaped configuration which is typical of most commercially available probe designs. 3. Glutamate, taurine and glycine were present in the highest concentration in the dialysate sample obtained before treatment with veratridine, whereas, aspartate and GABA were present in the lowest concentration. 4. The concentration of all 5 amino acids increased significantly following $75{\mu}m$ veratridine perfusion into lateral ventrocaudal PAG. 5. There was no significant difference between basal and peak amino acid concentrations according to window sizes. 6. Morphine had no effect on baseline concentrations of amino acids in dialysates obtained from the lateral PAG as compared to saline treated controls. However, following veratridine treatment, morphine selectively affected GABA release in the lateral ventrocaudal PAG as compared to saline treated controls. These results suggest that GABAergic interneurons in the PAG are inhibited by opioids. Therefore, endogenous enkephalins or endorphins may directly inhibit intrinsic GABAergic intemeurons and block their tonic inhibition of PAG-NMR projection neurons. Moreover, new designed probes demonstrate improved efficiency and accuracy in collecting samples as compared to commercial types of microdialysis probes.

3D reconstruction of a scene structure from un-calibrated image sequences has been long one of the central problems in computer vision. For 3D reconstruction in Euclidean space, projective reconstruction, which is classified into the merging method and the factorization, is needed as a preceding step. By calculating all camera projection matrices and structures at the same time, the factorization method suffers less from dia and error accumulation than the merging. However, the factorization is hard to analyze precisely long sequences because it is based on the assumption that all correspondences must remain in all views from the first frame to the last. This paper presents a new projective reconstruction method for recovery of 3D structure over long sequences. We break a full sequence into sub-sequences based on a quantitative measure considering the number of matching points between frames, the homography error, and the distribution of matching points on the frame. All of the projective reconstructions of sub-sequences are registered into the same coordinate frame for a complete description of the scene. no experimental results showed that the proposed method can recover more precise 3D structure than the merging method.
The study uses a regional climate model to check future changes in extreme climate, to calculate extreme indexes presented by STARDEX, and to analyze the trends to predict the continuity and changes in the spatial distribution of extreme climate in the future. An analysis of extreme climate indices showed that they are likely to increase in the Seoul metropolitan area, in Gyeonggi-do, in Yongdong in Gangwon-do, and in the southern shore region of Korea. It is, however, forecasted to diminish in the central inland region. The analysis also showed that the average temperature in Korea will increase because of climate change. On the other hand, an analysis of extreme rainfall indexes showed that the trend of heavy rainfall threshold is 0.229 in Seogwipo, the greatest five-day rainfall is 5.692 in Seogwipo, and the longest dry period is 0.099 in Sokcho. Of extreme temperature indexes, the trend of Hotdays threshold is 0.777 in Incheon and the longest heat wave is 0.162 in Uljin. The Coldnight threshold is 0.075 in Inje and -0.193 in Tongyeong, according to the analysis.
In this research, we describe the method of implementing a 360-degree panorama using one projector, in terms of hardware and in the production of projected pre-distortion images. We propose a method of installing a projector and a reflector on the central ceiling of the space to minimize the shadows generated based on the position of the spectators. We used a virtual camera and virtual space where the projector and hemisphere positions were set to the same as in the exhibition space in Unity. After the image projected on the screen was mapped on the wall of the virtual space, the pre-distortion image was created by the method of capturing from the virtual camera using the ray tracing technique. When the produced pre-distortion image is hemispherical reflected and projected by the projector installed at the same position as the virtual camera, the image is reflected and projected 360 degrees on the panoramic screen.
Chungnam Basin has been known as one of the largest Mesozoic basins in Korea, filled mainly with so-called Daedong Supergroup. The basin has evolved as the Early to Middle Jurassic intra-arc volcano-sedimentary basin developed on top of the Late Triassic to Early Jurassic post-collisional basin in this area, recording evolutionary history of the Mesozoic tectonics in the southwestern Korean Peninsula. This study carries out the geometric interpretations of the Seongjuri syncline and its surroundings in the central part of the Chungnam Basin, based on detailed structural field survey. Based on its doubly-plunging fold geometry, the Seongjuri syncline could be subdivided into the southwestern and northeastern domains. On the down-plunge profiles of the southwestern domain of the Seongjuri syncline as well as the underlying Okma fold, the Okma fault shows typical geometry of a basement-involved reverse fault that propagated up to the sedimentary cover. The profiles illustrate that the Seongjuri syncline occurs in front of the tip of the Okma fault, likely implying its origin as a part of the fault-related fold system. The result of this study will provide better insight into the structural interpretation of the Chungnam Basin, and will further provide useful information for the Mesozoic orgenic events of the southwestern Korean Peninsula.
Background: Supraspinal delivery of neurotensin (NTS), which may contribute to the effect of a systemically administered agonist, has been reported to be either pronociceptive or antinociceptive. Here, we evaluated the effects of systemically administered NTSR1 agonist in a rat model of neuropathic pain and elucidated the underlying supraspinal mechanism. Methods: Neuropathic pain was induced by L5 and L6 spinal nerve ligation in male Sprague-Dawley rats. The effects of intraperitoneally administered NTSR1 agonist PD 149163 was assessed using von Frey filaments. To examine the role of 5-HT neurotransmission, a serotonin (5-HT) receptor antagonist dihydroergocristine was pretreated intrathecally, and spinal microdialysis studies were performed to measure the change in extracellular level of 5-HT in response to PD 149163 administration. To investigate the supraspinal mechanism, NTSR1 antagonist 48692 was microinjected into the rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM) prior to systemic PD 149163. Additionally, the effect of intrathecal DHE on intra-RVM PD 149163 was assessed. Results: Intraperitoneally administered PD 149163 exhibited a dose-dependent attenuation of mechanical allodynia. This effect was partially reversed by intrathecal pretreatment with dihydroergocristine and was accompanied by an increased extracellular level of 5-HT in the spinal cord. The PD 149163-produced antinociception was also blocked by intra-RVM SB 48692. Direct injection of PD 149163 into the RVM mimicked the maximum effect of the same drug delivered intraperitoneally, which was reversed by intrathecal dihydroergocristine. Conclusions: These observations indicate that systemically administered NTSR1 agonist produces antinociception through the NTSR1 in the RVM, activating descending serotonergic projection to release 5-HT into the spinal dorsal horn.

Objective: To provide reliable prediction models based on dentoskeletal and soft tissue variables for customizing maxillary incisor positions and to optimize digitalized orthodontic treatment planning. Methods: This study included 244 Chinese women (age, 18-40 years old) with esthetic profiles after orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances (133 in group I: 1° ≤ The angle between the nasion [N]-A point [A] plane and the N-B point [B] plane [ANB] ≤ 4°; 111 in group II: 4° < ANB ≤ 7°). Dental, skeletal, and soft tissue measurements were performed on lateral cephalograms of the participants. Correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were used to determine the influence of dentoskeletal and soft tissue variables on maxillary incisor position. Results: The ideal anteroposterior position of the maxillary incisor varied between sagittal skeletal patterns. The position of the maxillary incisor correlated with the sagittal discrepancy between the maxilla and the mandible (ANB), protrusion of the midface, nasal tip projection, development of the chin, and inclination of both the maxillary and mandibular incisors. Distance from the maxillary central incisor to nasion-pogonion plane predicted using multiple linear regression analysis was accurate and could be a practical measurement in orthodontic treatment planning. Conclusions: Instead of using an average value or norm, orthodontists should customize a patient's ideal maxillary incisor position using dentoskeletal and soft tissue evaluations.
The aim of this study is to develop a new software tool for 3D dose verification using $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel dosimeter. The tool included following functions: importing 3D doses from treatment planning systems (TPS), importing 3D optical density (OD), converting ODs to doses, 3D registration between two volumetric data by translational and rotational transformations, and evaluation with 3D gamma index. To acquire correlation between ODs and doses, CT images of a $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel with cylindrical shape was acquired, and a volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plan was designed to give radiation doses from 1 Gy to 6 Gy to six disk-shaped virtual targets along z-axis. After the VMAT plan was delivered to the targets, 3D OD data were reconstructed from 512 projection data from $Vista^{TM}$ optical CT scanner (Modus Medical Devices Inc, Canada) per every 2 hours after irradiation. A curve for converting ODs to doses was derived by comparing TPS dose profile to OD profile along z-axis, and the 3D OD data were converted to the absorbed doses using the curve. Supra-linearity was observed between doses and ODs, and the ODs were decayed about 60% per 24 hours depending on their magnitudes. Measured doses from the $PRESAGE^{REU}$ Gel were well agreed with the TPS doses at central region, but large under-doses were observed at peripheral region at the cylindrical geometry. Gamma passing rate for 3D doses was 70.36% under the gamma criteria of 3% of dose difference and 3 mm of distance to agreement. The low passing rate was resulted from the mismatching of the refractive index between the PRESAGE gel and oil bath in the optical CT scanner. In conclusion, the developed software was useful for 3D dose verification from PRESAGE gel dosimetry, but further improvement of the Gel dosimetry system were required.

This study has its purposes on analyzing specific features of the elements according to scales of 32 main buddhist sancta among wooden temples with gable roof that are nationally designated as cultural assets, and analyzing influences and proportional relations between main and submaterials, so that it could be basic and objective data for restore and repair cultural assets in the future. Results of the study are following. First of all, the average plane proportion of doritong (facade) and yangtong (side) in 3-room building is about 1.31:1, while it is 1.70:1 in 5-room building. Secondly, as a result of analyzing the locational proportion and thickness of pillars at each location, floor room turned out to have wider space between pillars than that of edge room or side room in both cases of 3 and 5-room buildings. In the mean time, for the average thickness of the pillars in 3-room building, it was 491mm for corner pillars, 433mm for general pillars in cases of 3-room building, while it was 595 and 511mm respectively in cases of 5-room building. The reason why corner pillars are 60~80mm thicker than general ones in average, is determined to considered structural stability and optical illusion. For the third, as a result of analyzing the influences on pillar thickness, eaves projection and eaves height according to the scale(dimension) of buildings, 3-room buildings have outstanding correlation as its scale(dimension) goes bigger, while 5-room ones are not very much influenced by its scale(dimension). For the fourth, as a result of the relation between pillars and eaves, both of 3 and 5-room buildings have longer-projected and higher eaves as their pillars go taller; especially height of eaves turns out to have very close relation between length of pillars. In addition to that, both of 3 and 5-room buildings have much projected eaves as the eaves go higher.
