  • Calibration capability was evaluated using the reference-grade platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) in the temperature range of $-50^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$ for the national calibration centers. The reference-grade PRT was calibrated at the several fixed points, which was composed by the freezing points of Sn, In, the melting point of Ga and the triple point of water and Hg, before and after the round-robin test (RRT) experiments. The temperature scale of reference-grade PRT was compared to the local standard PRT's using the system of the national calibration centers. $E_{n}$ values was calculated by the temperature difference between the reference-grade PRT and the local standard PRT, and the best measurement capability. Finally, the capability of the national calibration centers was evaluated by the $E_{n}$ values.

  • The world's first geostationary ocean color imager (GOCI) is a three-mirror anastigmat optical system 140 mm in diameter. Designed for 500 m ground sampling distance, this paper deals with on-orbit modulation transfer function (MTF)measurement and analysis for GOCI. First, the knife-edge and point source methods were applied to the 8th band (865 nm) image measured April 5th, 2011. The target details used are the coastlines of the Korean peninsula and of Japan, and an island 400 meters in diameter. The resulting MTFs are 0.35 and 0.34 for the Korean East Coastline and Japanese West Coastline edge targets, respectively, and 0.38 for the island target. The daily and seasonal MTF variations at the Nyquist frequency were also checked, and the result is $0.32{\pm}0.04$ on average. From these results, we confirm that the GOCI on-orbit MTF performance satisfies the design requirements of 0.32 for 865 nm wavelength.

  • This paper investigates the design of coupled inductor for minimum inductor current ripple in rapid traction battery charger systems. Based on the general circuit model of coupled inductor together with the operating principles of dc-dc converter, the relationship between the ripple size of inductor current and the coupling factor is derived under the different duty ratio. The optimal coupling factor which corresponds to a minimum inductor ripple current becomes -1, i.e. a complete inverse coupling without leakage inductance, as the steady-state duty ratio operating point approaches 0.5. In an opposite manner, the optimal coupling factor value of zero, i.e. zero mutual inductance, is required when the steady-state duty ratio operating point approaches either zero or one. Coupled inductors having optimal coupling factor can minimize the ripple current of inductor and battery current resulting in a reliable and efficient operation of battery chargers.

  • The susceptibility of warships denotes the hit probability by anti-ship missiles in a hostile environment. The distribution characteristics of the hit location directly influence the vulnerability. This paper proposes a simulation method to determine the hit location of radar-homing anti-ship missiles by their approach direction. The method uses high-frequency analysis theory to calculate electromagnetic scatterers and determines the equivalent scattering center position corresponding to the hit location. The proposed method was implemented to an in-house software called SCTracer/RCS, which follows the process: importing numerical analysis model, defining calculation condition, calculating electromagnetic wave scattering centers, storing to database, calling scattering center data, estimating equivalent scattering center, and analyzing hit-point distribution. To validate the feasibility and practical applicability of this software, the hit-point distribution is examined for a 90-meter-class virtual warship.

  • This study has been carried out to clarify the characteristics of discharge and pollutant loading according to flow conditions at jiseok stream watershed (JSW). A flow rate and pollutant load in the study watershed were estimated by equation of stage-discharge and discharge-loads rating curve. By using the methods above, I've evaluated the water quality (WQ) of the JSW if it is satisfied with the standard target. I've collected the data of BOD and T-P from the JSW every 8 days for the duration of 12 months. And then, I've schematized the data upon the load duration curve and the results showed me that the WQ of JSW was satisfied with the standard target. I've also collected the same data every each day for the duration of 12 months from JSW and have schematized the data again. And the results showed that it also was satisfied with the standard target. To be concluded, I've determined that point pollution sources of JSW gives more significant impacts to the WQ than non-point pollution sources of JSW and hence, as time goes, point pollution sources will keep depriciating the WQ of JSW. Therefore, further efforts will be required to JSW to maintain the WQ.

  • Piecewise linear (G01-based) tool paths generated by CAM systems lack $G_1$ and $G_2$ continuity. The discontinuity causes vibration and unnecessary hesitation during machining. To ensure efficient high-speed machining, a method to improve the continuity of the tool paths is required, such as B-spline fitting that approximates G01 paths with B-spline curves. Conventional B-spline fitting approaches cannot be directly used for tool path B-spline fitting, because they have shortages such as numerical instability, lack of chord error constraint, and lack of assurance of a usable result. Progressive and Iterative Approximation for Least Squares (LSPIA) is an efficient method for data fitting that solves the numerical instability problem. However, it does not consider chord errors and needs more work to ensure ironclad results for commercial applications. In this paper, we use LSPIA method incorporating Energy term (ELSPIA) to avoid the numerical instability, and lower chord errors by using stretching energy term. We implement several algorithm improvements, including (1) an improved technique for initial control point determination over Dominant Point Method, (2) an algorithm that updates foot point parameters as needed, (3) analysis of the degrees of freedom of control points to insert new control points only when needed, (4) chord error refinement using a similar ELSPIA method with the above enhancements. The proposed approach can generate a shape-preserving B-spline curve. Experiments with data analysis and machining tests are presented for verification of quality and efficiency. Comparisons with other known solutions are included to evaluate the worthiness of the proposed solution.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for improving athletic performances by analyzing the kinematic variables of the Double Backward Somersault on the Parallel Bars through the 3D motion analysis. The subjects in this study were 5 male gymnasts who were ranked as national athletes. The results are as follows. 1. A total time(Mean Time) of performance showed $2.72{\pm}0.82\;sec$. and flight time to landing after releasing was 0.87sec.(mean). In order to perform better stable flying movement, the flight time should be increased. 2. In the change of velocity of the center of mass, when the increasing ascension velocity of the upper point was high, the position in the top point was high on releasing. 3. In the position variable of the center of mass, the mean of upper-bottom position in horizontal posture was $242.1{\pm}6.5cm$, $232.8{\pm}6.4cm$ in releasing, and $265.0{\pm}5.6cm$ in the highest point. This result is explained that the position of center of mass can be raised by using elastic power when wrist raised the bar in the releasing movement. 4. The angle of shoulder joint was $271.1{\pm}14.0$. Such a big angle influences a negative effect on the releasing velocity, because trunk is not a position in the enough vertical direction. 5. The ankle of hip joint in hand-standing was $191.1{\pm}5.9$, $118.8{\pm}5.3$ in releasing, and $122.3{\pm}5.3$ in taking on. Therefore, the result suggests that trunk should be straightly raised in taking on.

  • This paper describes an acoustic analysis of a Jing, Korean percussion instrument, according to different drive point and blow strength, and this analysis is focused on the softening and beat phenomena. Three kinds of blow strength (very strong, strong, and weak) and three locations of drive point (center, up, and right) are applied, and the spectrogram function built in Matlab is utilized to analyzing the softening and beat of target sounds. The stronger blow you drive to the center of the Jing, the more clearly softening is observed. Frequency shifting is increased proportionally to the blow strength and frequency and it is stand out on the harmonics in contrast with that of other partials. Beat of the Jing can be classified into the early beat and late beat. The beats by the outside driven Jing are distributed in wider frequency band than the beats by the center driven Jing. In addition, it is observed that the early beat is affected by few specific partials developed around harmonics for the center driven Jing.
