  • Generally, when Fly-Ash was used as replacement material of cement in concrete, it might occur retardation of setting and hardening. So, it is unable to use a large amount of Fly-Ash as replacement for cement. However, if it is used as replacement material of fine aggregate in concrete, we can use a large amount of Fly-Ash and settle a problem of natural-aggregate exhaustion. Furthermore, engineering properties of High Volume Fly-Ash Concrete Is better than that of plain concrete But, the larger Fly-Ash is replaced, the more fluidity of High Volume Fly-Ash Concrete decrease, because porous organization of Fly-Ash adsorb water and Superplasticizer. In this study, after appending additional water to High Volume Fly-Ash Concrete in proportion to weight of Fly-Ash, we intend to find proper ratio which doesn't affect strength and satisfy fluidity As a result of this study, it was found that fluidity of mortar with 25~28 percentage of additional water was satisfied with fluidity of plain mortar, and compressive strength of that was similar to plain mortar's

  • In this research, the physical properties of self compacting concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash as a part of cement were investigated. Concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash was prepared with various ground granulated blast furnace slag(30-50 volume %) and fly ash(10-20 volume %) replacement for cement. The effect of each of the materals, which have effects on self compacting concrete made by the basic mix proportion used granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash after hardening, has been checked. The workability, flowing characteristics, resistance of segregation of materals, air content, and compressive strength of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash were tested and the results were compared with those of ordinary portland cement concrete. In the experiment, we acquired satisfactory results at the point of flowing characteristics and strengths of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace and slag fly ash within the replacement ratio of 65%

  • According to increase of the waste concrete occurrence, recycling has being important more and more. This study is to recycle the waste concrete powder, which is occurred in dry-process during recycling of construction waste. We have tried the waste concrete powder to apply as the replacement of the silica powder in cement extruding product. As a result, it is satisfied that the autoclave cured pannel of 50% replacement ratio of waste concrete powder staisty the level of the flexural strength of 14MPa stipulated by "KS F 4735 Extruding concrete panel" was the same thermal properties as base specimen.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the properties of hardened mortar with chlorine by-pass system(CBS) in cement production in blast furnace slag(BS) mixed cement. Compressive strength had a tendency to be increased when the CBS Dust was replaced by 10% at the BS replacement rate of 0%. The 65% combination of BS showed a tendency to decrease as the CBS Dust exchange rate increases. Flexural strength was reduced as CBS Dust exchange rate increases in BS replacement ratio of 0%. The use of 5% of CBS dust can contribute to enhance the quality of non reinforced concrete.

  • In this study, the characteristics of strength development on high volume fly ash concrete(HVFAC)with Type 4 cement was experimentally investigated. Three levels of W/B were selected. Four levels of fly ash replacement ratios and two levels of silica fume replacement ratios were adopted. In the concrete mix, the water content of 125kg/m$^3$ was used, which is less than that of usual water content. As a result, it appeared that the compressive strength gradually decreased with increasing fly ash replacement ratio until 91days. However, regarding the compressive strength, the proper replacement ratio is about 20%, which is low compared to Type I cement case. It was observed that the tensile strength is proportional to the 0.72 power of the compressive strength. It appears that the prediction equation presented in Concrete Standard Specification overestimate the tensile strength in the low strength range, underestimate the tensile strength in the hi호 strength range.

  • Partial replacement of cement with blast furnace slag has many advantages such as the reduction of construction fee, the decrease of hydration heat and the increase of long-term strength. Hence, slag is widely used in practice. This study investigates the effect of slag on the rheological properties of cement paste and mortar. Three different types of slag (BS1, BS2 and BS3) with five different contents (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 wt.%) were used to replace the cement. Each type of slag has different fineness. Water to binder ratio was 0.5. Test results showed that the partial replacement of BS1 and BS2 decreased flow and increased O-lot flow time, whereas that of BS3 caused an opposite effect, i.e., increased flow and decreased O-lot flow time. It was found that there was a good corelation between the values of yield stress and flow.

  • The purpose of this study is investigating characteristics of the concrete containing Fly-ash according to different 4 mix design, that is, the first mix design is partial replace Fly-ash of cement, second is partial replace Fly-ash of cement and fine aggregate, third is partial replace Fly-ash of fine aggregate, fourth partial replacement of fine and coarse aggregate. For this purpose, selected test variables were water-binder ratio with two levels of 45%, 50%, and Fly-ash contents with four levels 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, As the result of this study are as follow. 1) The result of mix design of a partial replacement of cement, the slump-flow value was appeared a promotive effect of viscosity. But in case of the over with Fly-ash 10% and the other mix design was not changed slump value. 2) The unit weight of the mixing rate with Fly-ash 0% was $1.875{\sim}1.884t/m^3$, the other mix design 10% over with Fly-ash was $1.846{\sim}1.615t/m^3$, the difference was appeared less about 15% than that. 3) In design, partial replace Fly-ash of fine aggregate, this compressive strength was appeared that the concrete age after 7 days was higher than in partial replacement of cement, therefore, the default of a concrete with Fly-ash, that is the earlier compressive strength was to lessen, was improved. 4) The thermal conductivity of the all mix design was $0.447{\sim}1.144kcal/mh^{\circ}C$, this value was as good as a lightweight aggregate concrete.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the recycling method of reject-ash. The reject-ash, a significant portion of the pulverized fuel ash produced by coal-fired power plants and rejected from the ash classifying process, has remained unused due to its high carbon content and large particle size. This study compared reject-ash with fly-ash by physical properties, the properties of fresh & harden concrete with cement replacement ratio of reject-ash and fly-ash, 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25(wt. %). The loss of ignition of the reject-ash is similar to fly-ash and is suited to the KS L 5405. When the replacement ratio of reject-ash is increasing the air content of reject-ash concrete is lowly decreased. The results of the compressive strength measurement of reject-ash tends to decrease by increasing the replacement ratio.

  • This study is a part of development to improve early-age compressive strength of concrete by using industrial by-products. It tried to investigate the characteristics of early-age compressive strength according to curing temperature and industrial by-product replacement ratio 10, 20, and 30 %. As a result, regardless of industrial by-product replacement ratio and age, early-age compressive strength of concrete was found to be high compared to Plain using 100 % cement.
