Recently produced concrete has a tendency to overcome environmental defects. Porous and planting Eco-concrete requires the neutralization process and enough void in concrete to contain water, to pass air freely, and provides necessary nutrients to vegetation roots. The biological environment in concrete is not suitable for planting because the concrete possesses strong alkali constituent of pH 11-13. This study evaluated the strength and serviceability of concrete as well as the chemical characteristics of concrete mixed by low-grade iron ore left in the abandoned mine and treated by Ammonium monohydrogen phosphate, $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$. Test variables include two kinds of coarse aggregates such as crushed stones and low-grade iron ore, the duration time and the period for neutralization treatment by Ammonium monohydrogen phosphate, $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$, and the proportion ratio of cement, blast furnace slag and silica fume.
Cement acts as the most important component of concrete as it binds and holds the concrete together. But it is one of the major $CO_2$ emitters all over the world, during manufacturing (900 kg of $CO_2$ per 1000 kg). Some of the modern construction methods aim at reducing the amount of usage of cement and came out with numerous solutions for replacement of the same. One such supplement in current trend is the Steel dust or the Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAFD), which is a waste product from the electric arc furnace when the scrap metal is melted. When the concrete containing steel dust is exposed to atmosphere, the environmental oxygen and moisture play role to form rust and ultimately the member becomes harder. As Cement is the binder of conventional concrete, only certain percentage of the same could be replaced by the new material, steel dust. Tests were conducted for the 28 days cube strength of M45 grade (suitable for prestressing) concrete which has 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% steel dust instead cement. From the test, the optimum percentage replacement of steel dust was obtained, for which the beams and overhead poles were cast, prestressed and tested for the failure load and deflections. A conventional concrete beam and overhead pole were also cast, prestressed and tested to compare the results with those of the beam and pole that contained steel dust. The load vs. deflection plot and other results from the test is also discussed.

By applying coarse-grained limestone and unprocessed coal ash as sintering raw materials for cement clinker, the microstructure and distribution of chemical components of cement clinker were compared and examined. Samples using coarse limestone as a raw material for cement clinker showed a decrease in sinterability compared to samples using reagent-grade raw materials. Samples using coal ash showed a tendency for some increase in sinterability. In samples using coarse limestone and coal ash, the formation of Belite was high at 1350 ℃. The conversion rate from Belite to Alite was high in the range of 1350~1450 ℃. Samples using coal ash showed stable formation of interstitial phase in the range of 1350 to 1450 ℃. The microstructure and chemical composition distribution of cement clinker sintered at 1350~1450 ℃ showed that all samples showed a form and composition distribution in which the calcium silicate phase and interstitial phase were clearly distinguished.

This paper proposes a study of cement replacement with rice husk ash (RHA) and eggshell ash (ESA) for enhanced mechanical properties of geopolymer (GP) concrete with and without admixture. The main objective is to investigate the mechanical properties of GP with various replacement levels of Pozzolana Portland cement by RHA and ESA. The GP resistance to durability is examined and impact of ash materials on concrete's durability performance is determined. The environmental benefits of using agricultural waste materials in GP manufacturing minimize cement usage and CO2 emissions. The goal is to assess value of RHA-ESA of building material, paving stones for structures to lessen environmental impact. The novelty lies in use of ESA and RHA as partial replacements for cement and investigation of admixtures to enhance concrete properties, and reduce environmental impact. The research contributes by introducing a novel approach to reducing cement consumption by using ESA and RHA to address environmental concerns. It also explores the potential benefits of admixtures improving concrete performance and reducing environmental pollution. A study is carried with and without impacts of admixture to find compressive strength of GP cubes. The cement has been replaced by RHA and ESA in the range of (2.5%+7.5%, 5%+5%, 7.5%+2.5) by weight of cement for M20 mix. The compressive strength (CS) and split tensile strength (STS) at 7days, 14 days and 28 days is obtained as 21 N/mm2 at 7.5%RHA+2.5%ESA and 2.3 at 7.5%RHA+2.5%ESA, 24 N/mm2 at 7.5%RHA+2.5%ESA and 2.3 at 7.5%RHA+2.5%ESA, 28 N/mm2 at 7.5%RHA+2.5%ESA and 2.8 at 7.5%ESA respectively with normal curing condition.

Polycarboxylate type superplasticizers(PC) have got widely used for making not only high performance concrete but low grade concrete as well. It is known that fluidity of cement with PC is affected by the characteristics of cement especially sulphate ion concentration and hydration activity. But the characteristics of PC also affect the fluidity. The fluidity of cement mortar with various types of PC was measured and critical dosage(CD) and dispersing ability(DA) was calculated. CD and DA is strongly dependent on the type of PC. And the variation of fluidity on time was affected by the type of PC also. So, it is advisable to investigate the property of PC before production of concrete and adjust it to meet the requirements of concrete depending on the materials, the time of transport and so on.
China accounts for nearly half of the global steel production. As a waste material or a by-product in the manufacture process, a large amount of blast furnace slag is generated every year. The majority of recycled blast furnace slag is used as an additive in low-grade blended cement in China (equivalent to the UK CEM II or CEM III depending on the slag content). The cost of using ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) in such low-grade applications may not be entirely reimbursed based on market research. This paper reports an on-going project at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) which investigates the feasibility of using GGBS in long-span concrete structures by avoiding/reducing the use of crack control reinforcement. Based on a case study investigation, with up to 50% of CEM I cement replaced with GGBS, a beneficiary effect of reduced thermal contraction is achieved in long-span concrete slabs with no significant detrimental effect on early-age strengths. It is believed that this finding may be transferable from China to other Asian countries with similar climates and economic/environmental concerns.
This study examines the effects of limestone's factors on the fluidity of cement paste when of up to 15%. As the substitution ratio of limestone powder increases, the fluidity of the paste is also improved; however, it has no correlation to the $CaCO_3$ content of the limestone, fineness of the limestone, and fluidity of the pastes. Regardless of clay content of the limestone, it showed a similar mini-slump, so there was no correlation between the clay content and the fluidity of the paste. Also, the total organic carbon content of the limestone and the fluidity of the paste showed no correlation. Regardless of the limestone's grade or fineness, n value of powder gained by using the Rosin-Rammler distribution function showed that the fluidity of the paste increased as the n value reduced. It was also shown that particle size distribution of ordinary Portland cement with limestone powder had a major effect on the fluidity of the paste.

Tailing Material (TM) and Fly Ash (FA) are obtained as waste products from the mining and thermal industries. Studies were carried out to explore the possibility of utilizing TM as a part replacement to fine aggregate and FA as a part replacement to cement, in concrete mixes. The effect of replacing fine aggregate by TM and cement by FA on the standard sized specimen for compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strengths are evaluated in this study. The concrete mix of M40 grade was adopted with water cement ratio equal to 0.40. Concrete mix with 35% TM and 65% natural sand (TM35/S65) has shown superior performance in strength as against (TM0/S100, TM30/S70, TM40/S60, TM50/S50, and TM60/S40). For this composition, studies were performed to propose the optimal replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) by FA (Replacement levels studied were 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%). Replacement level of 20% OPC by FA, has shown about 0-5% more compressive strength as against the control mix, for both 28 day and 56 days of water curing. Interestingly results of split tensile and flexural strengths for 20% OPC replaced by FA, have shown strengths equal to that of no replacement (control mix).
Purpose: This study was peformed to investigate the retrievability of the cemented crown from the cementation type implant abutment. Material and method: The cementation type implant abutments (NEOBIOTECH implant abutment regular, 3 degree taper, 10mm length, 4mm diameter, Ti grade III, machined surface. Hwasung, Kyunggi-do) and cemented crowns were divided into 3 groups, depending on their hole angles formed in the crowns for their retrievability. The abutments and crowns were luted with 4 kinds of cements and separation test using metal wedge was executed with Instron 4465 Universal Testing Machine and the maximum impact force of the modified crown ejector was measured. Results and conclusion : 1. All of the cementation type implant abutments and cemented crowns were separated with relatively small force by metal wedge. 2. The retrieving force was minimum when the metal wedge was applied perpendicular to the axis of abutment. 3. The force for retrieving crowns from abutments was maximum in resin cement group, and reduced in orders of zinc phosphate cement, glass ionomer cement and zinc oxide eugenol cement. 4. The maximum force obtained by the crown ejector was higher than the retrieval force in ZOE and GI cement and lower than that in ZPC and resin cement. 5. If it has similar conditions clinically, the cemented crowns luted with 2 types of cements (ZOE, GI cement) can be safely retrieved from the cementation type implant abutments by the modified crown ejector.
