자동 선삭 셀에 적합한 인프로세스 측정/ 검사 시스템 (In-process calibration system suitable for unattended turning cells)

  • In a transfer line with mass production capability, calibration systems are included in the process as a separate dedicated station. However, this method is not appropriate in an unattended FMC with flexibility. As the FMC produces vesatile parts with small batch sizes, more flexible calibration systems are required. In this paper, a calibration/inspection system suitable for an unattended turning cell is introduced. The system has functions of dimension calibration of parts by touch probes, tool wear compensation, and quality monitoring of parts. Furthermore, characteristics of errors in the system are identified and corresponding compensation methodology is suggested. An operation software was developed for efficient use of the system.

  • 스마트폰 상에서 현재 연결되어 있는 셀 타워 아이디의 정보는 사용자에게 특화된 서비스를 제공하기 위한 기초적인 정보로 활용이 가능하다. 셀 타워 아이디의 정보는 낮은 수준의 정확도의 위치정보를 얻을 수 있게 해주며 이러한 위치 정보의 계속적인 모니터링을 통해서 사용자의 생활 패턴가지도 유추가 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 안드로이드 플랫폼 상에서 추가적인 에너지의 소모 없이 셀 타워 아이디를 지속적으로 모니터링 하는 방법을 구현 및 실험 하였다.

  • Anticancer drug resistance occasionally occurs in malignant hematologic diseases such as acute myelocytic leukemia (AML) treated with chemotherapy and is a major problem to complete remission. Malignant cells primarily induce intrinsic resistance to treatment of anticancer drug, but gradually obtain acquired resistance to cytotoxic activities of chemotherapy. In this study, we monitored the expression profiles of doxorubicin resistance-related genes in AML-2/DX100, a doxorubicin-resistant human acute myelocytic leukemia cell line. (omitted)

BK polyomavirus-associated nephropathy

  • BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) is a ubiquitous virus residing in the kidney tubules and is clinically significant only in immunocompromised patients. In clinical practice, BKPyV is a causative pathogen of BKPyV-associated nephropathy (BKVAN) in kidney allograft recipients or hemorrhagic cystitis of hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. Currently, there is no effective treatment for BKVAN; therefore, careful monitoring and prudent modification of immunosuppression are necessary to prevent BKVAN. In this article, the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and current management strategies for BKVAN are reviewed.

Long-term monitoring of ground anchor tensile forces by FBG sensors embedded tendon

  • Recently, there has been significant interest in structural health monitoring for civil engineering applications. In this research, a specially designed tendon, proposed by embedding FBG sensors into the center king cable of a 7-wire strand tendon, was applied for long-term health monitoring of tensile forces on a ground anchor. To make temperature independent sensors, the effective temperature compensation of FBG sensors must be considered. The temperature sensitivity coefficient ${\beta}^{\prime}$ of the FBG sensors embedded tendon was successfully determined to be $2.0{\times}10^{-5}^{\circ}C^{-1}$ through calibrated tests in both a model rock body and a laboratory heat chamber. Furthermore, the obtained result for ${\beta}^{\prime}$ was formally verified through the ground temperature measurement test, expectedly. As a result, the ground temperature measured by a thermometer showed good agreement compared to that measured by the proposed FBG sensor, which was calibrated considering to the temperature sensitivity coefficient ${\beta}^{\prime}$. Finally, four prototype ground anchors including two tension ground anchors and two compression ground anchors made by replacing a tendon with the proposed smart tendon were installed into an actual slope at the Yeosu site. Tensile forces, after temperature compensation was taken into account using the verified temperature sensitivity coefficient ${\beta}^{\prime}$ and ground temperature obtained from the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA) have been monitored for over one year, and the results were very consistent to those measured from the load cell, interestingly.

Microchips and their Significance in Isolation of Circulating Tumor Cells and Monitoring of Cancers

  • In micro-fluid systems, fluids are injected into extremely narrow polymer channels in small amounts such as micro-, nano-, or pico-liter scales. These channels themselves are embedded on tiny chips. Various specialized structures in the chips including pumps, valves, and channels allow the chips to accept different types of fluids to be entered the channel and along with flowing through the channels, exert their effects in the framework of different reactions. The chips are generally crystal, silicon, or elastomer in texture. These highly organized structures are equipped with discharging channels through which products as well as wastes of the reactions are secreted out. A particular advantage regarding the use of fluids in micro-scales over macro-scales lies in the fact that these fluids are much better processed in the chips when they applied as micro-scales. When the laboratory is miniaturized as a microchip and solutions are injected on a micro-scale, this combination makes a specialized construction referred to as "lab-on-chip". Taken together, micro-fluids are among the novel technologies which further than declining the costs; enhancing the test repeatability, sensitivity, accuracy, and speed; are emerged as widespread technology in laboratory diagnosis. They can be utilized for monitoring a wide spectrum of biological disorders including different types of cancers. When these microchips are used for cancer monitoring, circulatory tumor cells play a fundamental role.

변형률계를 이용한 강재보의 건전도 평가 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Structural Health Monitoring System for Steel Beams Using Strain Gauges)

  • 이 연구에서는 변형률계를 사용하여 변위를 추정하는 이론식을 제안 및 검증하고 하중 작용점과 크기를 추정하여 강재보의 건전도 평가 시스템을 개발하고자 하였다. 실험결과 160kN(항복하중의 56%)가력시 최대처짐 점에서 변형률계를 사용하여 얻는 처짐과 변위계의 측정처짐과의 오차율이 2%이내로 나타났으며 하중작용점 및 크기의 추정도 오차율1% 이내로 나타났다. 이를 통해 변형률계로 강재보의 변위 및 하중을 계측 할 수 있으며 나아가 변위계와 하중계의 생략으로 경제적인 센서설계를 할 수 있다. Lab VIEW로 구현된 건전도 평가 프로그램은 측정된 데이터가 일정 범위(강도 한계상태, 사용성 한계상태, 항복변형률)를 넘어설 때 단계별 경고를 발생하였고 변형률계 만으로 사용성한계상태와 강도한계상태를 동시에 모니터링 할 수 있었다.

  • To carry out baseline studies on monitoring systems for red tides in Jinhae bay, measurements and analyses were made on seawater samples from 15 sampling stations during 15 months from July, 1979. Water quality parameters studied are temperature, pH, DO, salinity, COD, SS, NO$\sub$3/, NO$\sub$2/, PO$\sub$4/, SiO$\sub$2/, Ca, Mg, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, Chlorophyll ${\alpha}$, diatoms and dinoflagellates. Multiple regression analyses were undertaken with chlorophyll ${\alpha}$, cell numbers of diatoms and dinoflagellates as the dependent variables and water quality parameters as the independent variables. The results showed that biomass, expressed as total cell numbers of diatoms and dinoflagellates, was largely influenced by COD, salinity and nutrients.
