  • Composite materials are drawing attention as the leading fabrics for casual wear. One reason for this is the shift in fashion trend to more casual apparel. Espectations of further acceleration in this area are so high that woven fabric movement are taking more and more of a new turn away from conventional materials made of fine denier filament to wool-like fabrics by mellange effects.

An Analysis of Trade Areas for Apparel Stores in Seoul - Based on Myeong-dong, Kangnam Station and Myeongil-dong -

  • The purpose of this study is to provide information how to locate a apparel store based on target age, merchandise's type and price. Three trade areas in Seoul are chosen: Myeong-dong which is the biggest trade area in Korea; Kangnam station one of representative Kangnam trade areas; and Myeongil-Dong a neighborhood trade area. This study is mainly performed by analysing the locations of the stores in the given areas. The result shows that the main apparel stores in Myeong-dong are casual wear stores for young people with the range of mid-high price. The stores in Kangnam station trade area also sell the casual wear for young people but they are mostly mid-low priced. In the trade area of Myeongil-dong, however, there are various kinds of mid-priced apparel stores for residents of all ages. Apparel stores for formal wear, casual wear, and formal-casual wear tend to be located side by side. But other kinds do not. These results show that affinity is found in some types of apparel stores by the analysis of the next-door apparel stores.

The Impression Formation of Man's Body Revealing Casual Clothes by Male and Female University Student (신체노출을 달리한 남성 캐주얼 복장에 대한 남.녀대학생의 인상형성)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the constructing factors of impression formation on man's body revealing casual clothes by university students, and to investigate the effect of revealing clothing styles and perceiver's gender on each factors of impression. The stimuli consisted of 12 color photogrphs including various styles of body revealing casual tops and bottoms; subject consisted of 310 male and female university student; subject observed 2 photographs each, ramdomly chosen from a pool of 12 and answered 37 semantic differention questions. Statistics applied for analysis were Factor Analysis, ANOVA and post hoc test. Results were; 1. Important factors constructing the impresstion of a male dressed in body revealing casual clothes were modesty, sexual stimulation and individuality 2. The styles of the body exposure and perceiver's gender had partial significant influence on impression formation.

  • The purpose of this study was to prepare the visual communication tool, which would be used for the interior design consulation to reduce the communication gap between an interior designer and a client. To achieve the study purpose, review of literature, questionnaire survey, qualitative analysis and design research methods were used. The major results of this study were as follows: 1) "Image Cube" was designed as a comprehensive rule to classify interior image types. By this, eight interior image types were classified: SFU(Simple-Formal-Urbane), SFN(Simple-Formal-Natural), SCU(Simple-Casual-Urbane), SCN(Simple-Casual-Natural), DFU(Decorative-Formal-Urbane), DFN(Decorative-Formal-Natural), DCU(Decorative-Casual-Urbane), DCN(Decorative-Casual-Natural). 2) The Interior image collages were composed to present the overall feeling of each interior image type. 3) The Interior image models which would be used as the standard to be modified to various sub-types through the interior design consultation were produced corresponding to interior image types.age types.

  • The purposes of the study are to measure the relative importance of independent variables, to analyze relation between user satisfaction and use, and to improve the level of user satisfaction in using e-Trade system(uTradeHub). The study develops the independent variables in three dimensions(i.e the quality of system, quality of information, and quality of service), estimates the level of satisfaction on a par with these variables, and analyzes the causal relation of these variables. The major findings of the study are as follows. First, there is a significant casual relationship between the quality of system and user satisfaction, thus the hypothesis is accepted. Second, there is a significant casual relationship between the quality of information and user satisfaction, thus the hypothesis is accepted. Third, there is a significant casual relationship between the quality of service and user satisfaction, thus the hypothesis is accepted. Final, there is a significant casual relationship between the user satisfaction and use, thus the hypothesis is accepted.

  • Because of variable factors in construction phase, measurement of carbon emission in construction industry is more difficult than in other industries. To enhance accuracy of the measurement, the impact of variable factors must be considered. In this paper, to understand the influence of variable factors in steel erection work, a carbon emission casual map was developed. The map demonstrates that the considerations of variable factors in measurement of carbon emission improves the accuracy. The results of this paper are expected to contribute to development of carbon emission casual map and carbon emission measurement model for the entire construction phase.

  • Consumers fill up not only their needs but also their own identity through apparel product and company. From this point of view, Brand personality is essential to convey customer's personality through advertizing influencing on buying behavior. This study investigates how personality factors of brand and advertising model and personality congruence influenced upon brand equity in casual apparel brands. The research methodology was questionnaire distributed to individuals who used to buy casual apparel brand. A total of 58 returned questionnaires were analyzed by internal validity, factor analysis and regression analysis with SPSS 12.0. The results of this study are as follows: in casual apparel brands, personality factors of brand and advertising model influence on personality congruence. Personality congruence influences on brand recognition and brand loyalty among brand equity.

Korean speakers hyperarticulate vowels in polite speech

  • In line with recent attention to the multimodal expression of politeness, the present study examined the association between polite speech and acoustic features through the analysis of vowels produced in casual and polite speech contexts in Korean. Fourteen adult native speakers of Seoul Korean produced the utterances in two social conditions to elicit polite (professor) and casual (friend) speech. Vowel duration and the first (F1) and second formants (F2) of seven sentence- and phrase-initial monophthongs were measured. The results showed that polite speech shares acoustic similarities with vowel production in clear speech: speakers showed greater vowel space expansion in polite than casual speech in an effort to enhance perceptual intelligibility. Especially, female speakers hyperarticulated (front) vowels for polite speech, independent of speech rate. The implications for the acoustic encoding of social stance in polite speech are further discussed.

Analysis of the Organization of Trading Area and Fashion Trend in Gumi based on the Observation of Fashion Brand Stores (패션 브랜드 지점 조사를 통한 구미시 상권 구조 및 패션 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the organization of trading area and fashion trend in Gumi based on the observation of fashion brand stores which had been undertaken on a regular basis from July 2001 through July 2004. Gumi has over 1,000 stores located in main trading streets, about $25\%$ of which was fashion retail stores. In July 2004, $64.6\%$ of them was selling branded products, and the number of unisex casual wear stores was the greatest, followed by women's casual wear stores, sportswear stores, and children's wear stores. On the main streets of Gumi, casual attires as well as casual wear stores can be easily observed because the population of eumi is young compared to that of other regions. Among casual wear brands, especially sensory, or trendy casual wear brands such like BNX, A6, Coax, Koolhaas, EXR, and Smex came into Gumi area in large numbers since fall of 2002. From the observation data, dynamic and systemic effects of economic state, population, seasonal elements, product characteristics, etc. on the organizations of trading area were identified.
