  • Macro-porous carbon foams are fabricated using cured spherical phenolic resin particles as a matrix and furfuryl alcohol as a binder through a simple casting molding. Different sizes of the phenolic resin particles from 100-450 ㎛ are used to control the pore size and structure. Ethylene glycol is additionally added as a pore-forming agent and oxalic acid is used as an initiator for polymerization of furfuryl alcohol. The polymerization is performed in two steps; at 80℃ and 200℃ in an ambient atmosphere. The carbonization of the cured body is performed under Nitrogen gas flow (0.8 L/min) at 800℃ for 1 h. Shrinkage rate and residual carbon content are measured by size and weight change after carbonization. The pore structures are observed by both electron and optical microscope and compared with the porosity results achieved by the Archimedes method. The porosity is similar regardless of the size of the phenolic resin particles. On the other hand, the pore size increases in proportion to the phenol resin size, which indicates that the pore structure can be controlled by changing the raw material particle size.

  • Cartesian grid system has mainly been used in the casting simulation even though it does not nicely represent sloped and curved surfaces. These distorted boundaries cause several problems. A special treatment is necessary to clear these problems. In this paper, we propose a new method that can consider the cutting cells which are cut by casting and mold based on the partial cell treatment (PCT). This method provides a better representation of geometry surface and will be used in the computation of velocities that are defined on the cell boundaries in the Cartesian grid system. Various test examples for several casting process were computed and validated. The analysis results of more accurate fluid flow pattern and less momentum loss owing to the stepped boundaries in the Cartesian grid system were confirmed. By using the cut cell method, performance of computation gets better because of reducing the whole number of meshes.

  • The gaps between the die margin worked and the casting body were measured with an optical microscope and compared after making crown prosthetic materials using three kinds of die material - dental stone, extra hard stone, epoxy resin - used in crown prosthesis. The results are as follows : 1. All the gaps between the cast cervical margin and the casting bodies were relatively good regardless of die materials used with the gaps under $50{\mu}m$, the allowable limit. 2. The cervical margin suitability of epoxy resin die was the highest among the three kinds of die material with the suitability value of $30.28{\pm}12.67$. 3. Among the four surfaces(buccal, lingual, mesial, distal) of all the casting bodies, buccal surface was the highest in the cervical margin suitability with the value of $25.93{\pm}15.51$.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to comparative evaluate the marginal and internal gap of three-unit metal frameworks(Co-Cr) fabricated by wax milling method and digital light projection method of CAD/CAM systems. Methods: All the specimens were fabricated by three different fabrication methods: conventional wax up with casting(CWC), milled wax block with casting(MWC), digital light projection with casting(DLPC) (n=10 each). The marginal and internal fits of specimens were examined using a replica technique. The light-body silicone thickness was measured at 8 reference points(each abutment: 16 measurements). All measurements were conducted by a stereomicroscope. Digital photo were taken at $150{\times}$ magnification and then analyzed using a measurement software. The Mann-Whitney test was used for analyzing the results. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the fabrication methods(p<0.001). The mean(SD) is ${\mu}m$ for fabrication methods, the mean marginal fit were recorded respectively, CWC 63(38), MWC group 50(33), DLPC 103(54) and the mean internal fit CWC 96(47), MWC group 116(41), DLPC 138(66). Conclusion : The marginal and internal fit were statistically different according to the fabrication methods(p<0.001). In all fabrication methods, the greatest misfit was found the occlusal area of all specimens.

  • Porous alumina ceramics are involved in many industrial applications due to the exceptional properties of these products. This study addresses the preparation of porous alumina ceramics using hollow microspheres as a pore-forming agent and slip casting as a green-body-forming technique. A uniform distribution of pores is a basic requirement of a porous material. This study investigates three different slurry systems, i.e., as-prepared alumina slurry, alumina slurry electrostatically dispersed by hydrochloric acid (HCl), and slurry dispersed by the commercial dispersant 'Darvan C-N'. At a low viscosity, the hollow microspheres in the slurry tend to float, which causes a non-uniform pore distribution. To avoid this phenomenon, the viscosity of the slurry was increased to the extent that the movement of hollow microspheres ceased in the slurry. As a result, a uniform pore distribution was achieved.

  • In this paper, an effective design procedure was proposed to design the rib of die structure for auto-body member with ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) having ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 1.5 GPa. From analysis results of the die structure, structural safety of the die was evaluated with information such as displacement and von-Mises stress. It was concluded that the casting part could be designed in order to reduce tool deformation. A design guideline of the die structure was proposed, especially for the rib structure in the casting part with an optimization scheme and local reinforcement concept. Simulation result following the design guideline fully explained that stability of the tool structure could be obtained simultaneously with weight minimization.

  • The light aggregates were fabricated by sintering green bodies made form the fly ash-clay alip. The content of fly ashes in the slip could be increased up to 70wt.% due to controlled rheological behavior of the slip, and the green body of uniform microstructure could be obtained by DCC(Direct Coagulation Casting)method. The apparent density, microstructure and compressive strength for sintered bodies fired at 1100∼1200$^{\circ}C$ were evaluated. The properties of light aggregates fabricated depend on slip density, particle behavior in the slip and sintering conditions. The sintered body prepared by firing a green body made from slip of density 1.60 at 1150$^{\circ}C$/2hr satisfied conditions of a light aggregate as apparent density of 1.49${\pm}$0.02 and compressive strength of 584${\pm}$62kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • Currently, The method to produce a brewing body for dentistry supplementation water produces a brewing body by fabrication, burying and it is heat wish in city gas and oxygen. It uses an original judgment found airplane the brewing body uses a spring of the back wait that melting temperature dissolved various alloys in by a blow pipe, and to generate centrifugal force and produces it. In addition, because it uses preheating to dissolve an alloy in general, it is hard to regulate the appropriate melting temperature of the alloy and brewing time and generates a brewing defect hereby same as gas industry and pinhole and shows the defect of the supplementation thing due to the super-heating. In this paper, We developed the high induction heating system which it could set brewing time, temperature and had durability and security,by the kind of the alloy to produce a high quality prosthetic thing brewing body.

  • David Harris argues that mass media suppress counter-hegemonic factors in order to reach audience. According to Harris's theory, the success of the film "Tess" depends on its effective adaptation from Thomas Hardy's novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles (1891). Tess (1979), directed by Roman Polansky, casting Nastassia Kinski for Tess, was acclaimed as a professional and commercial success, awarded with various prizes. Hardy's aim at criticizing Victorian English social and moral standard through Tess appears obscure in Polansky's film which focuses on the aesthetics of human body and capital. Polanski's Tess with urban white beauty does not emerge victimized by poverty, which the late twentieth century audience under the capitalist umbrella may abhor. To examine his use of music, sound effect, visual images by means of camera operation—angles, distances, close-ups and frequent movements—light and color, and mythic elements in the film, show Polansky's sharp perception of his contemporary audience's desire and conscientious work upon it.
