This study evaluated a shear capacity of confined socket-bolt (CSB) shear connector developed for utilizing cast in placed pile (CIP) as a permanent underground wall. The push-out tests were performed in the specimens with different CIP types, CSB shear connector types, L/d, and concrete compressive strengths of concrete pile, and with or without waterproofing at interfaces between CIP and underground wall. Test results showed that the specimens with a H-shaped pile were fractured in the CSB shear connector, while the fracture concentrated in the concrete part of the specimens with a reinforced concrete pile was alleviated as the compressive strength of the concrete pile increased, resulting in the severe fracture of CSB shear connector. The maximum shear capacities of the specimens with high strength bolts and reinforcing bars used as CSB shear connector were approximately 1.22 and 1.20 times higher than those of the specimens with a H-shaped pile, respectively, and 1.10 and 1.16 times higher than those of the specimens with a reinforced concrete pile, respectively. Meanwhile, the maximum shear capacity was not significantly affected by the embedding length of the CSB shear connector and overlapping length of reinforcing bar. The predicted shear capacities calculated from the KDS standards were lower than the measured values of all specimens tested in this study.

Currently, in the precast concrete construction, Precast Concrete (PC) and Cast-In-Place (CIP) concrete with different concrete strengths are frequently used. However, current design codes do not specifically provide shear design methods for PC-CIP hybrid members using dual concrete strengths. In the present study, simply supported composite beams with shear reinforcement were tested. The test variables were the area ratio of the two concretes, spacing of shear reinforcement, and shear span-to-depth ratio. The shear strengths of the test specimens were evaluated by current design codes on the basis of the test results. The results showed that the shear strength of the composite beams was affected by the concrete strength of the compressive zone and also proportional to the flexural rigidity of un-cracked sections. Furthermore, the contribution of shear reinforcements varied according to the concrete strength of the compressive zone.
Bi-directional pile load test (briefly called 'BDH PLT') cannot be performed at loading levels where ultimate bearing capacity could be assessed in field, it is not possible to precisely determine both ultimate load and yield load and under loading. Since the load is transmitted separately to the skin and the end unlike the static pile load test (briefly called 'SPLT') and the direction of loading on the skin is opposite, such methods could have a result different from actual movements of shafts. In this study, three-dimensional finite element method (briefly called '3D FEM') analysis was conducted from results of the BDH PLT, made with barret piles, which were large-diameter cast-in-place concrete piles, and the calculated design constants were applied to the 3D FEM analysis of the SPLT to interpret them numerically and then, actual behaviors of cast-in-place concrete piles were estimated. First, using the results of the BDH PLT with cast-in-place concrete piles, behaviors of the piles made by loading upwards and downwards were analyzed to calculate load-displacement. Second, the design constants, calculated by the 3D FEM analysis and the back analysis, were applied on the 3D FEM analysis for the SPLT, and from these results, behaviors of the SPLT through the BDH PLT was analyzed. Last, the results of the 3D FEM analysis of the SPLT through the BDH PLT was expressed in relationships as {A ratio of bearing capacity of the SPLT and of the BDH PLT (y)} ~ {A ratio of reference displacement and pile circumference (x)}, and they were all classified by reference displacement at 10.0 mm, 15.0 mm, and 25.4 mm.

In the buildings with long spans and high floors, such as logistics warehouses and semiconductor factories, it is difficult to install supporting posts under beams during construction. Therefore, the size of structural members becomes larger inevitably, resulting in a significant increase in construction costs. Accordingly, a prestressed hybrid wide flange (PHWF) beam with hollowed steel webs was developed, which can reduce construction costs by making multiple openings in the web of the steel member embedded in concrete. However, since multiple openings exist and prestress is introduced only into the bottom flange concrete, it is necessary to identify the shear resistance mechanism of the PHWF beam. This study presents experimental shear tests of PHWF beams with hollowed steel webs. Four PHWF beams with cast-in-place (CIP) concrete were fabricated, with key variables being the width and spacing of the steel webs embedded in the concrete and the presence of shear reinforcing bars, and web-shear tests were conducted. The shear behavior of the PHWF beam, including crack patterns, strain behavior of steel webs, and composite action between the prestressed bottom flange and CIP concrete, were measured and analyzed comprehensively. The test results showed that the steel web resists external shear forces through shear deformation when its width is sufficiently large, but as its width decreased, it exerted its shear contribution through normal deformation in a manner similar to that of shear reinforcing bars. In addition, it was found that stirrups placed on the cross section where the steel web does not exist contribute to improving the shear strength and deformation capacity of the member. Based on the shear behavior of the specimens, a straightforward calculation method was proposed to estimate the web-shear strength of PHWF beams with CIP concrete, and it provided a good estimation of the shear strength of PHWF beams, more accurate than the existing code equations.

Hybrid Prestressed Precast Concrete System (HPPC system) is a newly developed frame system that can improve the performance of precast concrete (PC) joints by post-tensioning. In particular, the details proposed in this study can reduce the lifting weight of the PC members and eliminate problems caused by cracks in the joints that occur under service loads. This study performed an evaluation on the negative moment performance of full-scaled HPPC girders. The test specimens were cast with or without slabs, with bonded or unbonded tendons, and had different post-tensioned lengths in tensile section. The test results showed that the specimens with slabs had significantly higher stiffness and strength than those without slabs. There were no differences in the flexural behavior between those with bonded or unbonded tendons, and between those with short or long post-tensioned lengths in the negative moment region.
Cracks due to low tensile strength in prestressed concrete (PC) beams may decrease rigidity and structural performance, resulting in excessive deflection. In an effort to solve this problem, in this research, prestressed dual concrete (PDC) has been proposed, consisting of normal strength concrete in compression zone, and high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete(HPSFRC) with a partial depth in tensile zone. Three PDC beams with different depths of HPSFRC and two PC beams were cast for experiments. Analytical models at each stage, i.e., precracking, postcracking, and ultimate, were proposed for analysis of flexural behavior in PDC beams. The experimental results agree well to the analytical ones. Crack formation and its propagation are controlled by the HPSFRC in PDC beams. The initial cracking and service limit loads are increased along with the load carrying capacity and flexural stiffness.
Half-P.C. slab system is the composite structural system which utilizes precast concrete for lower portion and cast in situ concrete for upper portion slab. When the composite slab using Half P.C. slab is deformed by flexural moment, horizontal shear happened at the interface between Half P.C. slab and topping concrete. To resist horizontal shear strength a scratch method has tried. To determine ultimate interface shear strength, shear stress, and shear coefficient, high and normal strength concrete are used for topping concrete. Major variables are compressive strength of topping concrete with or without shear reinforcement, quantitative roughness of the P.C. :surface and tie or untie of the stud with welded deformed wire fabric in the P.C. member. The Icross sectional area on joints is 3,200 $cm^2$ in all specimens. Test results showed that shear stress increased, as the depth of the quantitative roughness increased. The horizontal shear strength could be resisted with safe by the quantitative roughness without shear tie. A shear coefficient determinant equation is proposed such that K = 0.025918 + 0.0068894$\cdot$R – 0.000182354${\cdot}R^2$

Concrete wedge anchor is one of structural components to transfer load of an object attached to a primary structure. Recently, as retrofitting concrete structure is becoming a main issue, mechanical capacity of the anchor should be secured enough. In spite of the structural safety of Cast-in-place anchor, Post-installed anchor is more widely used with ease of placement or change of construction method. However, the post-installed anchors domestically produced have excessive coefficient of variation over 15% of ultimate tensile strength, which yields deteriorated quality in tensile strength. In this research, tensile strength test of anchors, which have improved sleeve and header and produced by a domestic company, was conducted for two variables, concrete strength and effective embedment depth. As a result, enough coefficients of variations were secured in all specimens. Also, in comparison to foreign products, the domestic ones have equal or higher performance.
Maturity is expressed as the integral of time and temperature of concrete above a datum temperature.
The maturity concept proposes that concrete of the same mix at the same maturity
has the same strength, whatever combination of temperature and time makes up that maturity.
In this study, the Nurse-Saul function which was proposed to account for the effects of temperature
and time on strength developrnent is used in computing maturity. After existing various
functions are considered to relate concrete strength to the maturity value, new strength-maturity
function is proposed.
Tests ;ire conducted in order to determine d datum temperature and compare prechction value
with measured concrete strength. The constants in proposed prediction equation are determined
from test results, and the equation is adopted to predict the strength of slab. The slab was cast
in the laboratory from the same batch of mold, and cores are cut from slab in order to estimate
the actual strength. These values are used to compare with predicted value. The present study
allows more realistic determination of early-age strength of concrete and can be efficiently used
to control the quality in actual construction.
Precast prestressed double-tee slab may be designed by the PCI Design Handbook. It is based on the bridge construction and is required for reorganization for the use of buildings in the domestic construction environments. Much enhanced sections are developed from the reforming process on the determined design factors in the previous experimental works on double tees. Pre-determined shape, reinforcement detail, and 5000 psi concrete strength can not be expected as the best solution for the domestic construction requirements because large amount of use on that systems are anticipated. Flexural tests are performed on four full-scale 12.5m proto-type models, "least depth double tee", which are resulted from the optimization process. Domestic superimposed live load regulation, domestic material properties which is available to product, building design requirements and economy in construction are considered as the main factors to establish. the first two sections are double tee section for 1.2 ton/$\m^2$ market live load with straight and one-point depressed strands and the second two are for 0.6 ton/$\m^2$ parking live load with those strand types. All of the specimens tested fully comply with the flexural strength requirements as specified by ACI 318-95. However, the research has shown that following improved considerations are needed for better result in practice. The locations and method of connection for the lowest bottom mild bar, connection method between precast and cast-in-place concrete, and dap-end reinforcement are need to be improved.
