  • In this study, the applicability of dynamic water quality model to TMDL system was examined, methods for setting of water quality goal and estimation of allocation loads were suggested and results of applying these methods were analyzed. HSPF model was applied for Miho stream basin as a dynamic water quality model. The model was calibrated using measurement data obtained in 2009~2010 and showed satisfactory performance in predicting daily variations of flow rate and BOD concentration. Methods for TMDL application were categorized into 3 cases; water quality management (1) considering low flow condition(Case I), (2) considering entire period of the year (Case II) and (3) considering the worst water quality condition (Case III). BOD water quality goals at the end of Miho stream watershed increased in the order of Case IICase I>Case III. If further researches on base precipitation and method for model input of nonpoint source pollutant were carried out, water quality could be managed more reasonably and scientifically by applying dynamic water quality model to TMDL. The result of this study is expected to be used as primary data for TMDL using dynamic water quality model.

  • This is a case study to analyze the role of technology licensing or transfer office (TLO) as factors of success for the spin-off from government research lab. The case company is a research lab startup, which is a joint venture through technology investment by a government research lab or university in the designated R&D parks and cash investment by the partner company. The case company listed on the stock market in 2015 reaching a market capitalization of US$ 1.2 billion. We confirm the success factors of startups pointed out in many studies: original technology, good understanding of core technology and production technology, technological competitiveness in the market. However, there is an important factor not well discussed in the previous studies, the role of TLO. TLO guided the company ownership, management, technology, and solved problems that pause business itself. The case became the sample of research lab startup and technology investment in Korea.

  • Many researchers have studied the theme on CASE technology. However, there are no many researches which lightened the diffusion of CASE technology and organizational change. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that influence on the diffusion of CASE technology and the way how IS organization changes as a result of the diffusion. We exploited a case study research as a methodology. We selected five software development firms which possessed the leading IS technology abilities as the case companies. We realized that the diffusion of CASE technology proceeded under the three context variables - managerial context of information systems, the intent and behavior of key players and implementation strategy of organization - to enhance the performance of information systems. The contribution of this study is to clarify the change of IS organization as a result of CASE technology diffusion. This study has the limitation that tried to analyze the organizational change only in a direction.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to assess Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) doctors' awareness and utilization of the case report, based on the opinion that careful observation on the case sometimes provides us with the important information as clinical trial especially in the traditional medicine research field. Methods : A questionnaire study was conducted among TKM doctors who participated in the annual continuous maintenance education (CME) held at 5 regions of the Republic of Korea. Results : Almost 60% of the respondents had read case reports published in medical journals and 67% had openly shared their clinical cases with their colleagues. Of the respondents, 18.6% had been educated on reporting cases, and only 16% had the experience of reporting cases on one's own. However, 32.6% of the respondents had the intention to report cases in the future. These results show significant differences between general physicians who holds a license but no hospital training experience and board certified TKM doctors who have training experience. Conclusions : A majority of TKM doctors have read case reports but holds little experience of having been properly trained. Through this research, it has been found that awareness of case reports is rising in hospital training. Thus, the objective of case report education for TKM doctors who have hospital training experience should be set on encouraging them to do more whereas for doctors without hospital training experience, the objective should be set on making them more exposed to case reports to heighten one's awareness.
