A Study on the Career Management for Construction Engineers through the Professional FGI Results: Focused on the Index of Construction Engineer's Competency (전문가 FGI를 통한 건설기술자 경력관리 방안 연구: 건설기술자 역량지수를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the current career management system for construction engineers and propose the developed future plan for the career management system. Especially, this study explores the Index of Construction Engineer's Competency(ICEC) and issues for workplace competency development which is the foundation of the career management system for construction engineers and proposes the advanced strategies for operating the career management system. For the developing the future strategy of the current construction engineer's career management system, a focus group interview was conducted in this study. Total 12 experts participated in the FGI. The study results identify the six key issues for advanced construction engineers' career management system. Those six issues include 1)preparing in the inducement of new human resources, 2)institutional modification of the current job/expertise fields, 3)attaching importance of practical experience in the workplace, 4)consideration of various factors of individual career, and 5)developing the highest level's workplace competency. Based on these research findings, theoretical and practical implication and suggestion for future studies were provided.

Incidence of Cutaneous Injury in Clinical Nurses (병원 간호사의 경피 상해 발생 실태)

  • Purpose: To identify the incidence of cutaneous injury in clinical nurses. Method: From Feb.1 to 28, 2005, 276 clinical nurses were surveyed by questionnaire. Results: 1. Of the nurses, 53.6% had at least one incidence of cutaneous injury, and the mean number of injuries was 1.34. A higher incidence rate for cutaneous injury was found in nurses who were under the age of 25, unmarried and who had less than 3 years career experience. 2. The major causes of injury were syringe needles at 65.0%, and medical instrument were next followed by sharp objects or blades. The injuries occurred when the nurses were rearranging equipment after care (25.2%), taking blood samples (22.8%), separating syringes and needles (17.1%), during surgical operations (14.2%), and distribution of medications, treatments and recapping of needles (5.7% each). The hands were the most common body parts injured, and the most prevalent pathogens contaminating the instruments causing the injury were HBV syphilis, HCV and HIV in that order. 3. Of the injured nurses, 77.9% did not report the accident and 25.8% did not receive any treatment because there were no pathogens, it was a bother or there was difficulty reporting the incident. Conclusion: To reduce cutaneous injuries, intensive training and supervision may be needed for those of nurses under the age of 25, unmarried and with less than 3 years career experience.

  • Flight safety in modern commercial aircraft depends on the ability of pilots to manage overall flight operations. ICAO has made it mandatory for airlines to adhere to Crew Resource Management(CRM) policies to reduce operational safety threats. CRM is a set of techniques designed to effectively manage the human resources, aircraft, and environmental factors in order to promote safety and enhance efficient air operations. When looking at the career backgrounds of new pilots joining the Republic of Korea's commercial airlines, discharged military fighter pilots represent the largest demographic. Fighter pilots are experienced in empowering leadership and directive leadership from their military training and culture. New commercial airline pilots with military fighter pilot training should effectively acquire the required civil aviation CRM skills. The present study has been carried out to determine how the leadership experience of this demographic affects the acquisition of CRM skills for commercial airlines, and it confirms that there is a positive correlation.

Analysis of the State of Science Teaching Anxiety of Elementary Teachers for the Scientifically Gifted according to Their Personal Variables (교사변인에 따른 초등과학 영재교사의 일반학급과 영재학급에서의 과학교수불안 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the state of science teaching anxiety of elementary teachers for the scientifically gifted according to their personal variables such as gender, career in education and gifted education, training course for gifted education, participation in meeting related to gifted education. The subjects in this study were 64 elementary school teachers who were in charge of science gifted education. The instrument to assess their science teaching anxiety was Westerback's S-STAI, modified in this study to be suitable for science gifted education. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS. The findings of the study were as follows: The teachers for gifted felt more teaching anxiety in gifted classes than in normal classes on the whole. There were statistically significant differences in their personal variables such as gender, career in education experience, experience of taking gifted education training courses, and participation in meeting related to gifted education. Implications related to reduce the gifted education teachers' teaching anxiety were discussed in depth.

A Basic Study on the Culture of College Life for International College Students (외국인 학부생 대상 대학 생활 문화 교육을 위한 기초 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the perception and educational needs of international college students regarding the culture of college life. A questionnaire was given to international college students who are studying at universities in Korea. The results showed that international college students need to study about the culture of college life and had a perception that it is desirable to learn this through general education classes or freshman subjects after entering university. Also, the culture of college life can be divided into nine categories: bachelor's system; career and employment; university support centers and systems; interpersonal relations; departmental events; housing and living expenses; freshmen's events; exchange activities and programs; and cultural experience activities. International college students showed higher learning needs in order of career and employment; cultural experience activity; and bachelor's system. In addition, the characteristics of the learners showed different educational needs according to year of study and Korean language proficiency. The significance of this study is to specify the items of the culture of college life required for international college students, to measure the validity and reliability of these items, and to categorize the elements of the culture of college life.

Influence of Dental Hygienist's Job Satisfaction, Psychological Ownership, and Job Engagement on Job Performance

  • Background: This study is to identify the factors that affect job satisfaction, psychological ownership, and job engagement of dental hygienists on job performance and use them as basic data for manpower management of dental hygienists. Methods: The survey was conducted by 344 clinical dental hygienists working in dental medical institutions. The collected data is PASW Statistics ver. 20.0 was used to analyze. Results: The job satisfaction level of the dental hygienist was 3.38±0.52, and the question that 'I feel that my ability to solve problems has improved compared to the past.' was 3.92±0.80. There were significant differences in job satisfaction, psychological ownership, and job engagement according to general characteristics in age, marriage, education, career, current work experience, and position. There were significant differences in job performance according to general characteristics in age, marriage, education, career, current work experience, position, and number of dental hygienists. Factors influencing job performance were practical activities, income, patient relations, absorption, vigor, dedication, and the number of dental hygienists. Conclusion: Finding different ways to use psychological ownership and job engagement through the job satisfaction of a dental hygienist, and to and to utilize it as basic data for efficient manpower management through job performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference about cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) willingness to perform and confidence according to job experience of school health teacher. Measuring tools consist of general and job experience characteristics, cardiopulmonary resuscitation willingness to perform and confidence. The results of this study were as follows. Difference of willingness to perform CPR according to job experience of participants have a significant differences in teaching experience career (${\chi}^2=15.991$, p=.000), clinical nursing experience(${\chi}^2=13.808$, p=.003), if you meet someone who meets cardiac arrest(${\chi}^2=8.455$, p=.004). Difference of CPR performance confidence according to job experience of participants have a significant differences in religion(${\chi}^2=18.994$, p=.025), the working school system(p=.000), teaching experience career(.003), number of educated CPR (p=.000), if you meet someone who meets cardiac arrest(p=.036).

A Study on the Positioning Strategy of Wood Cultural Experience Center

  • The increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations is known to be closely associated with climate change and global warming. In this sense, considering that facilities for appropriate education and experience on wood, which is a carbon pool, have been required, this study targets the Wood Cultural Experience Centers, which are in current operation, examines and evaluates their operation status and policy changes, and ultimately derives a successful positioning plan. To this end, it conducts a survey, and the results are as follows. First, as a result of the similarity analysis (KYST: Kruskal-Young-Shepard-Torgerson program) with facilities with leisure activities and educational functions, the Wood Cultural Experience Center have competition with natural recreation forests in terms of naturalness, and it has competition with the career experience center and youth training center in terms of experiential observation. Second, the result of positioning analysis of the attribute space map indicates that the Wood Cultural Experience Center is positively perceived in terms of such attributes as naturalness, experiential learning or recreation, and preservation of natural environment, but is negatively recognized in terms of accessibility, escape from daily life, and things to see.

A Study on Job and Task Satisfaction of Physiotherapist -Focusing on Employees in Orthopedic Manual Therapy Part- (물리치료사의 직업 및 직무만족도에 관한 연구 - 정형도수치료 직무 중심으로 -)

  • Background: The purpose of this survey is to determine the job and task satisfaction of physiotherapists. These are important factors because they are directly connected to both morale and work efficiency. Methods: Data was collected from March 9th, 2013 to April 15th, 2013 using self-administered questionnaires. First, Cronbach Alpha coefficient was used to evaluate date reliability. Further data analysis used mean and standard deviation to determine frequency and satisfaction for each characteristic. To determine the significance of job and task satisfaction, T-test and an analysis of variance were performed. Also, regression analysis was used to find out a relation between job satisfaction of physiotherapist and task satisfaction of orthopaedic physical therapy. Result: This survey includes results from 197 physiotherapists who engage in orthopaedic physical therapy from major, medium and small cities. The general characteristics of survey respondents include: 112 males (56.9%), 85 females (43.1%); 123 in their twenties (62.4%), 56 in their thirties (28.4%), and 18 over forty (9.1%); 156 had less than five years work experience in orthopaedics, 25 had six to ten years, and 16 had more than eleven years work experience. In the physiotherapist's job satisfaction survey (out of 5), males averaged 3.71 and females averaged 3.43. Individuals with less than five years in the career averaged 3.5, 3.69 for between 6 to 10 years in career, 3.87 for over 11 years in career; this showed a significant difference. Results of the sub-factors of job satisfaction were 3.81 for self-esteem and 3.21 for prospect of occupation. Results of task satisfaction in orthopaedic therapy showed a significant difference between 4.03 for males and 3.66 for females. For sub-factors of task satisfaction scores were 3.81 for vision, 4.29 for task adoption, and 3.57 for task recognition. Conclusion: Physiotherapists will be satisfied when their motivation to work and morale are increased by concerns such as improving the education environment, expert physiotherapist adoption issue, and medical law revision.

Attitudes, Stigma, and Moral Sensitivity of Nurses toward HIV and AIDS (간호사의 HIV/AIDS에 대한 태도와 낙인 및 도덕적 민감성)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships of attitudes, stigma, and moral sensitivity of nurses toward HIV/AIDS. Methods: The participants were 530 nurses working in general hospitals in South Korea. A structured questionnaire regarding attitudes, stigma toward HIV/AIDS, and moral sensitivity was used. The data were analyzed using t-tests, ANOVAs, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: Nurses' attitudes toward HIV/AIDS differed by job position; nurses' moral sensitivity toward HIV/AIDS differed by age, marital status, education level, clinical practice career, and job position; and nurses' stigma toward HIV/AIDS differed by age, clinical practice career, subjective economic status, HIV/AIDS education experience, and HIV/AIDS patient care experience. Attitudes of nurses toward HIV/AIDS were more negative when stigma toward HIV/AIDS was higher (r=-0.58, p<.001), these attitudes were not correlated with moral sensitivity. Conclusions: The attitudes of nurses toward HIV/AIDS were more negative when stigma toward HIV was higher, and these attitudes were not correlated with moral sensitivity. Therefore, nurses should be provided education that takes their age, marital status, clinical practice career, and experiences in HIV-related education and caregiving into account.
