The study participants were educated to check their blood sugar before meals every day, and received text messages to help improve general lifestyle habits for blood sugar, diet, and exercise for 12 weeks. There was a sufficient difference in blood sugar, body mass index and blood pressure before and after the intervention. As a result, fasting blood glucose(129.38±1.95 to 123.63±1.82) decreased(P<0.001). Body mass index(26.20±0.29 to 25.81±0.28, P<0.000), diastolic blood pressure(124.60±1.03 to 122.56±1.05, P<0.032), and systolic blood pressure(79.86±0.83 to 78.06±0.79, P<0.017) decreased, which were also statistically significant. It is expected that this study will be used as basic data to develop a self care program by using mobile and apply it to employees with diabetes.
Objectives : A safety culture is the bedrock for all patient safety improvement initiatives; thus, many resources have been invested in measuring hospital culture. However, many of these endeavors have failed to yield meaningful results. This article proposes a practical checklist to ensure successful administration of a safety culture survey and describes current methodologies for analyzing survey results to develop safety improvement programs. Methods : We reviewed currently used safety culture surveys and summarized their strengths and weaknesses. We also reviewed studies using safety culture surveys and found several pitfalls leading to failure in survey administration. With this information, we developed a checklist that covers critical items in the survey process. We also reviewed newly developed methodologies for survey results analysis and application and described them using the Korean version of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire as an example. Results : The checklist consists of three steps: survey preparation, administration, and analysis and application. Each step contains clear action items. The content even describes how to get buy-in from hospital executives and manage communication channels with them. Also, common misunderstandings regarding survey scores are described and possible solutions are suggested. In the analysis section, we demonstrate new methods for obtaining more accurate survey results and how to utilize these methods to develop and implement hospital-wide safety improvement programs. Conclusion : A successful safety culture survey is the foundation of all future safety improvement projects. This review is intended to guide hospitals in enhancing safety.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Medicaid case management (CM) performed by Medicaid case managers on health management and to examine the overall health care utilization with high risk Medicaid beneficiaries. The subjects involved in this research were 113 Medicaid beneficiaries who were recipients CM in Y-gu between October 1st, 2012 and March 31th, 2013. The results show that there were significant differences in 'recognition of own disease', 'understanding of Medicaid policy', 'medication' and 'healthy lifestyle'. Also there were significant differences in 'appropriateness of health utilization', 'number of medical institutions', 'level of social isolation' and 'general health status'. In addition, significant differences were found in Medicaid days, outpatient days, medication days and Medicaid costs. It was found that the Medicaid CM had a positive effect on health care utilization. The study suggests the need of strengthening and diversifying Medicaid CM as well as supporting the management and monitoring after the termination of Medicaid CM.
Objectives : This study was supposed to investigate factors which influence to preference of medical tourism products of Japanese tourists in Seoul, Korea. Methods : Data were collected from 228 Japanese tourists who visited' Seoul Center for Culture & Tourism' in Myeong-dong, Seoul, Korea. We measured factors which influence to preference for medical tourism. The data were analyzed by T-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Results : The major findings were as follows ; Japanese tourists preferred medical products in the order of skin care, oriental medicine treatment, health screening, and scaling & teeth whitening. They considered technical level of medical staff most importantly, followed by safety of medical products, communication during diagnosis and treatment, follow-up service, modernization of medical facilities and equipment, and the reasonable medical expenses. Japanese tourists' preferred medical institutions in the order of a university hospital, a specialty clinic, a special hospital, They said they intend to pay 50,000 to 150,000 yen for medical tourism. The preference to medical tourism products are that single women group in their twenties and thirties for skin care, married people group aged over thirties preferred oriental medicine treatment, and married men aged over forties and high income earners favored health screening. Conclusions : It should be considered carefully that the preference exists on some factors especially for Japanese tourist. Further research about preference on medical tourism products for tourists from the other countries is required appropriately to fulfill the needs.
Purpose: This qualitative study aimed to develop a substantive theory of the process of adaptation to motherhood in Central Asian-Korean immigrants to Korea. Methods: Individual, in-depth interviews were conducted from July to September 2017, with 18 women who emigrated of Korean ethnicity from Central Asia to Korea, and took care of their baby for at least a year after their first delivery in Korea. The interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data from the transcriptions were analyzed through Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory method, and data analysis was conducted simultaneously with data collection. Results: As a result of categorizing the interview data through the process of open coding, 10 categories, with 31 subcategories and 102 concepts were drawn, and "growth as a Central Asian-Korean mother in an unfamiliar, historical hometown" was found to be the core category of the process of adaptation to motherhood in Central Asian-Korean immigrants to Korea. Conclusion: A characteristic of the process of adaptation to motherhood in Central Asian-Korean immigrants to Korea, drawn from this study, is that it differs according to the level of initiative to carry out interaction strategies, and the use of various supportive social resources. The findings indicate the need for Medicare eligibility adjustment for antenatal care, the extension of the visa renewal period during childbirth, the development of web- or mobile application-based educational programs in Russian language, and the establishment of integrated visiting healthcare services, community service resources, and policy support to enable these women to utilize various supportive social resources.

This exploratory study aimed to explore the perception (knowledge and attitude) and behaviors of medical personnel regarding medical device safety and to identify the differences in results linked with the type of their task. A questionnaire was administered to medical personnel working at a tertiary care hospital with 900 beds in Incheon, Korea, and 220 completed questionnaires were used for analysis. The results revealed that the majority of the medical personnel perceived the potential risk involved in different types of medical devices they use and stated that they need training programs for safe use of medical devices. Concerning the perception regarding medical devices across different positions within the hospital, it was found that the residents had a low awareness about safety issues, although the medical services they handled involve high risks, thereby calling for safety training. Further nationwide studies are needed to improve the quality and validity of data and eventually to provide important information required by policy makers and academicians to manage medical device safety.
The basic idea of IoT(Internet of Things) is interconnection and cooperation with a variety of things in real life such as Radio-Frequency Identification(RFID) tags, sensors, mobile phone, etc, through internet. IoT technologies which applied to these fields consist of sensor network technology and middleware, application. Currently, IoT technology is applied to various fields such as health care, home care, automotive, transportation, construction, agriculture, environment, food, and etc, based on its technologies. This paper focuses on discussion of the IoT development trend in game field. In order to achieve this purpose, first, the IoT technologies for game development based on sensor network technology and middleware, application is mentioned. Second, covers serious game and gamification that is expected to be a growing that is expected to be a growing, by applying IoT technologies to the game field. It can help for game developers by using IoT technologies.
As IoT technology has gained the attention all around the world, the development for various services of healthcare, smart city, agriculture, and defense based on IoT is in progress. However, it is likely that healthcare services based on IoT have a problem of being leaked of patients' biological information by a third party and that risks patients' lives. In this paper, an IoT health care service managing model based on location sensor is proposed, which secures the biological information of a patient and simplifies the procedure to process the treatment and administration steps by using the data resources sensed. Even when an emergency occurs, this proposed model can respond quickly using the location information of the patient, which enables the staff in the hospital to locate the patient in real time. In addition, there is an advantage to minimize the time and the process of care, because the location of the equipment for necessary treatment is possible to be instantaneously located with attached sensors.
Since the elderly voices include a lot of noise caused by physiological changes in respiration, phonation, and resonance, the performance of the convergence health-care equipments such as speech recognition, synthesis, analysis program done by elderly voice is deteriorated. Therefore it is necessary to develop researches to operate health-care instruments with elderly voices. In this study, a voice activity detection using a symmetric higher-order differential energy function (SHODEO) was developed and was compared with auto-correlation function(ACF) and the average magnitude difference function(AMDF). It was confirmed to have a better performance than other methods in the voice interval detection. The voice activity detection will be applied to a voice interface for the elderly to improve the accessibility of the smart devices.
In order to clarify the Gosambaeksunpibokhap-bang(GBBB)'s therapeutic possibility on atopic dermatitis (AD), influences of GBBB on the changes of various immune-related factors and histological changes in NC/Nga mice were evaluated. Experimental results are as follows. Sign of recovery from AD was observed in GBBB treated group with naked eye test. The ratio of white blood cells, neutrophil, lymphocytes, monocyte in blood were decreased to 54%, 63%, 57% and 86% respectively in the GBBB group. IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, Histamine and IgE were significantly decreased to 40%, 80%, 62%, 61% and 57% respectively in the GBBB group. H&E staining showed thickness of epidermis and dermis were decreased by GBBB and inhibited the infiltration of lymphocytes. On the basis of these results, GBBB was confirmed that the possibility as an AD treatment applied externally to the skin. In the further study, immune control mechanism of GBBB will be demonstrated through the additional molecular biological research.
